How does everyone handle bathroom towels? Does everyone in family have their own towel? Or do you all share whatever towels are in the bathroom?

Each has own towel, easily identifiable as one person's, eg my son always had white, husband a horrible green of which we had two, they've long since worn out thankfully. I had whatever else was available.

Honeybee85 · 07/06/2019 11:39

Me and DH each have our own towel. I read somewhere online that you should change it after using it 3 times. So after 3 showers, it goes into the laundry basket.

Pascha · 07/06/2019 11:39

We share. Still alive. 🤷‍♀️

Fresh hand towel on the rack every morning. I change the big towels every couple of days, people help themselves if they want a fresh one. It's all there in the airing cupboard. Nobody stresses about it.

Japonicaflower2 · 07/06/2019 11:41

Dh and I each have our own, laundered every 4 or 5 days and hung separately on towel rails. We share a hand towel that I change a couple of times a week, more frequently if DH is around more because somehow he seems to make hand towels filthy 😡, if he's away then changed weekly.
Guests obviously have fresh towels.
We've never shared towels, the DCs each had there own too.

blushmelikeyou · 07/06/2019 11:41

Couldn't imagine sharing a big towel with anyone including my kids.

LoafofSellotape · 07/06/2019 11:41

Big basket of towels on the bathroom and people help themselves. Used ones dry on the radiator or banister and then get washed every couple days or so.

FlamingGalar · 07/06/2019 11:42

Shared towels in our house but once used they are then used a couple times by the same person ( dried in that persons bedroom and then bought back to bathroom for subsequent uses if that makes sense). I have a basket of rolled up clean towels in each bathroom for everyone to help themselves to when needed.

Deadringer · 07/06/2019 11:43

We all have our own bath towels, different colours and they are hung on a clothes horse to dry after use. I wash them when I think they need it, nothing like weekly though. I change the shared hand towel about twice a week.

Why not?

WhoWasIt · 07/06/2019 11:44

We have our own towels, always have done.

Pascha · 07/06/2019 11:45

I don't actually wash all the used towels til the weekend when they go in with DH's gym towels and the teatowels in one 60° wash at the weekend.

Gatehouse77 · 07/06/2019 11:45

Everyone has their own bath towel and head towel/flannel as wanted.

All towels get washed at 60º once a week unless needed before that.

In the kitchen we have a tea towel for drying up and a hand towel for hands. These, and the dishcloth, get washed/replaced as needed.

MrsD28 · 07/06/2019 11:46

We (DH, toddler DS and I) each have our own towel each week - we know whose is whose by where they are hung up, as they are all just white towels. Washed weekly, unless they get unexpectedly dirty / soggy (e.g. DS drying his hands after he has not-quite-washed-off his washable markers). We don't often get overnight visitors but they would get their own towels.

EmeraldShamrock · 07/06/2019 11:47

We all have a colour towel. I used to wash after every use, from MN and a pain in my ass with the washing towels, we now hang them for a 2nd day use. never a 3rd

Shodan · 07/06/2019 11:50

We have a towel each and it's kept in our bedrooms. Changed once a week or so. Used to keep them in the bathroom until I realised that ds1 was using them, taking them to his bedroom and leaving them wet on the floor and not replacing them in the bathroom Angry. Still have that issue a bit with the hand towels but I've compensated by having loads of hand towels that are kept in the bathroom.

It was lovely when he was at uni - towel washing dropped by a million per cent and there was always a clean, fresh towel available Grin

WatchingFromTheSidelines · 07/06/2019 11:52

Hang on. When people say they share, do they mean everyone uses the same towel on the same day? So Dad has a shower, uses towel, then Mum uses the same towel, then teenager, then toddler... You all use the same one? Don't they get wet? And very dirty?

I have never heard of this before and I am in my 40s!

Or do you mean all your towels are white, so there are not specific towels allocated to each person? Anyone could end up with any white towel from the cupboard?

Floralnomad · 07/06/2019 11:52

Each bathroom has a towel / flannel selection out and each morning I go round and collect anything that needs changing and put back fresh ones . I do a towel wash 2 or 3 times a week . There was a huge thread about this a few weeks ago with people going on about how minging it is to towel share with their husband , which makes me wonder how they share beds , have sex or indeed have any intimate relations when you consider that a towel is used for drying a clean body .

SmilingThroughIt · 07/06/2019 11:54

We each have our own and gets washed every 2 days. It's a bit gross to share, wiping private parts?

Twickerhun · 07/06/2019 11:55

Gosh some of you must spend far too much of your life washing towels

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 07/06/2019 11:56

Bath towel per person (colour coded to make it easier). Shared hand towels. Kitchen hand towels are smaller and a different colour to bathroom hand towels. I do a towel wash about once per week, but often change the hand towels more frequently.

NunoGoncalves · 07/06/2019 11:57

Well, with a partner you're usually quite well acquainted with their private parts anyway, aren't you? Certainly I wouldn't describe mine as gross!

Also after having a shower, your privates should be clean. If they're not, you didn't wash properly!

ThinkPinkStink · 07/06/2019 12:01

Ooo I love a towel thread.

DD has her own due to her (small) size.

DH and I share from the towel selection. My preference is the thinner older towels (which don't make it to the towel shelf in the bathroom, rather living in the airing cupboard). DH prefers the bouncier posher towels.

We each wash our towels after a few uses (maybe 3 days), I am better at drying mine than DH is, so I am the unofficial Towel Monitor.

Guests get fresh towels etc.

Hand towels are washed at the same frequency, but always fresh for guests, and washed after guests.

ThinkPinkStink · 07/06/2019 12:03

Washing towels that have been used to dry a clean body every 2-3 days is completely unnecessary. this would be true if the towels are dried properly between uses, which is easy if we remember to plonk them outside in the sunshine/hang them somewhere sensible. But a damp towel is no one's friend.

Sockworkshop · 07/06/2019 12:04

Everyone has their own towels mine are the fluffiest
How does towel sharing work?
DH and DC all shower and so are using constantly damp towels ? brrrr yuck.
I air mine on the hot airer and they place on heated towel rail .
Nice dry towels.
Wash weekly on 60 degree wash.

CatG85 · 07/06/2019 12:08

Individual bath towels changed 1 to 2 times a week and all share hand towels which I change every other day.
