How does everyone handle bathroom towels? Does everyone in family have their own towel? Or do you all share whatever towels are in the bathroom?

Six in household, we all have different coloured towels. We don't share towels, or use each other's.

I've been in the care of dermatologists since I was 6 months old. I have had a chronic skin condition all of my life, I am now 58. Not once, in any place I have ever lived or at any hospital I have ever been to, has any dermatologist said that I should to share towels.

nokidshere · 09/06/2019 19:16

Should NOT

HoldOnToHope · 09/06/2019 19:21

Towels are all shared, but used once and then they go in the wash! So I would use a towel after a shower, put it in the washing machine and then my partner uses another towel after his shower and put that in the washing machine. Once towels are washed and dried, they go in the airing cupboard for anyone to use.

maimainomai · 09/06/2019 19:41

No, I don't share towels.

I wouldn't mind (too much) with my DH but I don't think I would have wanted to share a towel with my brothers when we were teens....

Or are you talking after washing? No, there are no designated towels after washing..so . That does sound like a huge hassel.

lboogy · 09/06/2019 19:55

We all have our own, I don't want to inadvertently dry my face with the bit DH used to dry his balls/arse. He says it's important to get right between the cheeks, like bum flossing 🤢 (not envy)

Same in my house. I'd never share DH's towels

woodhill · 09/06/2019 20:18

We have our own towel then washed weekly. I don't share bath towels but once towels are washed it doeskin matter which new one you use.

MyOtherProfile · 09/06/2019 20:21

Sharing towels is seriously grim.

Gmom · 15/06/2019 04:20

I come down on the side of being disgusted that families would use the same used bath towel. Why??? I don’t get it. Especially if you’re washing them every three days. Isn’t it easier to have 4 towels and wash them once a week than to have 2 towels and wash twice a week? It’s a pleasure to have one’s own towel when one gets out of the shower. I do not want to dry my face on something my teenaged son has dried his balls with. )Yes even if his balls are freshly showered. ) My kids each have a bath towel from Land’s End USA with their names stitched on them (They can be ordered that way - monogramming is 3 dollars or something) and my husband and I have our own towels (different colours). We share hand towels except when there is a flu or cold going around. An excellent GP I know said not to share hand towels when unwell. Even freshly washed hands can spread viruses.

herculepoirot2 · 15/06/2019 07:22

This is all a bit nuts, isn’t it? Unless you take your own towels to hotels, spas and holiday rentals, you will probably be using a towel someone else has used at some point.

MyOtherProfile · 15/06/2019 07:27

But in hotels the towels get washed before they are handed on to the next guest.

herculepoirot2 · 15/06/2019 07:29

MN is famously germophobic, though. Everyone moaning about the environment and then buying and washing mountains of flannels and towels on the off chance they’re going to catch a skin complaint. No wonder people are developing more allergies.

Well, yes, but I am talking about the people who have their own colour coded towels because they couldn’t possibly share. Unless the towels are white and fluffy and accompanied by one use pool slippers

EmmaGrundyForPM · 15/06/2019 07:33

We all have our own bath towels. I have a towel for my hair. Shared hand towel

Dh and I wash the towels from our bathroom every 5 days or so.

I have no idea how often ds washes his towel but suspect it's not very often.

brownbeauty · 15/06/2019 07:34

We all have 2 colour coded towels each and dd n I have patterned ones for when we have our monthlies which we keep in our bedrooms
the regular ones just stay on the towel radiator

MyOtherProfile · 15/06/2019 08:10

@herculepoirot2 Grin

PlaymobilPirate · 15/06/2019 08:28

We just have a few towels on the go and share. We just use whatever is dry. I do not have a structured washing system so just chuck them on a 40 when I get round to it.

I've just got out of bed (it's my lie in) to sniff the ones on the go at the minute and they smell lovely!
