Oh no. Is this something you've done before? Does it feel like a one-off 'problem' or just a regrettable decision?

Aquamarine1029 · 06/06/2019 03:40

Why on earth would you do this? It's madness.

Fuckfuckfuck123 · 06/06/2019 03:41

I think hope a one off. I do matched betting and made a few mistakes. Just got carried away trying to chase a bonus round

OP posts:
BitOfFun · 06/06/2019 03:44

Consider it a lesson learned, and don't repeat your mistake. Sometimes it hurts to really wake up to self-destructive behaviour. It's bad, but it's not the end of the world if you take some insight away from the experience.

captaincorellisvaseline · 06/06/2019 03:45

I don't know much about matched betting but I wouldn't have thought it was possible on a slot machine? I thought it was more about playing the odds on things like sports matches etc?

Tavannach · 06/06/2019 03:45

Can you block your access as if you were under 18?

Fuckfuckfuck123 · 06/06/2019 03:47

Your suppossed to go for low risk offers to maximise profit. This was outright gambling

OP posts:
ThroughThickAndThin01 · 06/06/2019 04:29

That’s one of the troubles with matched betting and why I’m not a huge fan of enthusing so much on here about it. It can go wrong.

Mummadeeze · 06/06/2019 05:12

If you make money from casino offers along side matched betting (as I do) it is very easy to get into this situation. I have been there and know how awful you feel afterwards. The slots are designed so cleverly to trick you into thinking a bonus round is just round the corner and get you to carry on. Just take a day off. Do not chase your losses today whatever you do. Go back to basics and do some easy low risk sports offers. There should be some international footie ones on the weekend. If you just remind yourself of all the rules and stick to them rigidly, that money will be back in your account very soon. In terms of not doing it again, only you will know if you can stay disciplined. I will not do casino offers anymore will a large bank in my account. I will only deposit the minimum to do the offer. And I know which kind of offers trigger my lack of control so I avoid them. And whatever you do, do not play randomly outside an offer. There are plenty around to do if you get the urge. Don’t beat yourself up though. We have all been there at one time or another. Hope you feel a bit better soon.

Fuckfuckfuck123 · 06/06/2019 06:08

Thabks mumma. I feel rotten about it. MB has been really profitable for me but i do enjoy playing the slots.

Your right. Back to basics and stick to the rules. Its such a horrible feeling having spent that money on nothing

pictish · 06/06/2019 06:31

Absolute mug’s game. You have already lost a significant sum and will undoubtedly lose more.
However, if this is your bag, there’s nothing anyone can say to stop you. Personally I wouldn’t touch online gambling or slot machines with someone else’s barge pole because I think it’s a glaring and obvious waste of money but if you enjoy that...well.

Do try not to lose your head or any more cash.

pictish · 06/06/2019 06:35

“Don’t beat yourself up though. We have all been there at one time or another.”

Disagree. I’ve never ‘been there’. You’ve had a warning about where you’re heading. Heed it.

Mumofone1593 · 06/06/2019 06:36

I realised I was having to play at least one game every day to keep myself happy so have clicked the button that bans myself for 3 months. Honestly you might think an addiction means you have no money at all but for me I put £10 in, won £50, spent it all in one sitting and knew I must have a problem. I'm 2 months in and still miss it. Maybe try self banning so you can see how reliant you are on it as £200 is alot go realise you haven't spent

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/06/2019 06:42

I do matched betting, spending £200 to chase a bonus isn’t advised. Ban yourself from the low risk casino offers.

There’s plenty of other offers to make money on.

Please stay away from casino offers.

I do matched betting and I stay away from these because I am the same.

The good news is you can recoup the £200 soon

You're all mad !Shock
Stop gambling!
It's a mugs game!

Deathraystare · 06/06/2019 07:18

I think it is best if you stay away from these things completely. You seem a bit vulnerable. Some people can get online and do an occasional bet and I guess it can be fun. You have proved you cannot do it so stay completely away from it. Get your fun somewhere else that does not involve gambling I have a friend with an addictive personality and in the end it is never fun as she goes too too far.

pictish · 06/06/2019 07:19

Fair enough. Sounds stressful, upsetting and like a complete waste of money though.

Looobyloo · 06/06/2019 07:20

I have a friend who put on facebook she's won a couple of thousand on online slot machines (is that possible?!) So I went on luckily stopped at £10, but how many more did the same and lost loads?
I'm still dubious as to whether she won all that. Next day she'd won another £800! (So she said)

LakieLady · 06/06/2019 07:25

Just got carried away trying to chase a bonus round

"Chasing losses" is one of the indicators for gambling addiction, OP, so you may have a problem.

If you find yourself "carried away" like this again, please get help. I've seen a couple of lives ruined because of this addiction. One client lost £7k in one evening playing online bingo - maxed out every card she had.

It cost her a lot more though: her home, her marriage and she almost lost her children, too.

Looobyloo She may well be telling the truth, but what she won't be posting on Facebook is all her losses.
