Go back to sports offers and avoid casino for a bit. I know how tempting it is, I do a lot of the low risk casino and you have to be SO disciplined

Betting of any kind is never profitable in the long term.
Short term gains are soon wiped out but by that time you’re hooked.
Stop betting now and move on.

You’ve had a warning about where you’re heading. Heed it

^this. I have a friend who is a gambling addict. Started out with matched betting. Now addicted for years.

You just have to be disciplined about it and then it makes it risk free ( on sports)
Yes but the OP wasn't disciplined and that's the point. You start of being disciplined but the thrill of a risk gets to you. Before you know it you are addicted and can't live without it.

rookiemere · 06/06/2019 07:45

A better option than sticking to the rules would be to not online gamble. Try a week without it see how you feel, it's a mugs game and you're highly unlikely to end up in profit.

Lovemusic33 · 06/06/2019 07:46

Learn from it.
I do the offers. Won quite a bit from depositing £10 and getting x amount of free spins but after the £10 is gone I don’t put anymore in (just play the free games). Luckily I have a lot of self control. I think it’s ok to put £10 in occasionally, I don’t go out so £10 for a evening playing slots is cheaper than a night out? But if you have no control it’s best not to play at all?

The safest thing to do would be to not do any kind of betting or gambling. Why not find a more constructive hobby?

NoSauce · 06/06/2019 07:51

Gambling is an addiction.

Gilbert1A maybe people are taking you with a pinch of salt because you protecst too much... You should be busy enjoying your tax free cash, not mingling with us uneducated peasants.

Gilbert1A if the op was making £30k a year I doubt she would care about £200. Not every one is immune to the risk of being drawn in to actual gambling through this. Its designed to lure you in. After seeing my friend and what she's been through I would choose being happy over the possibility of profit any day.

MonkeyfaceThereturn · 06/06/2019 08:01

People here have no idea what matched betting is, do they 😂😂

OP keep away from casino. Otherwise keep going with the bookies sports offers.

It's not a risk. The bookies won't win. If you calculate correctly and stay within the rules you can only win. It's not rocket science 🙈

NoSauce · 06/06/2019 08:02

Gilbert my FIL has lost so much money in his life through gambling. Must be thousands and thousands, 50k? Maybe more.

Gambling is not a fucking hobby!

janetforpresident · 06/06/2019 08:02

It's not rocket science🙈

No but it's addictive

MarshaBradyo · 06/06/2019 08:04

Why is it tax free?

Thank you for your responses.

I broke the number one rule of matched betting - do not gamble. This has served as a very harsh lesson, one that i will be sticking to.

I have some sign ups i can still do which will make back the cash. Thereafter i think a break will do me good anyway. I mostly bet on football and occassionally horses, so i would like to remain consistent in that approach as i wouldnt want to risk my accounts on betting on things i dont usually. With football finished (mostly) now's a good time for a break.

I know i posted in a panic that i lost £200. Since MB for past 3 months ive made £3k. This is the first (and last time) ive gambled. Lost £300 due to an error in a lay bet so it is profitable and not gambling - if you follow the rules which i know i didnt. I Started with £40.

It would be wrong of me not to be aware of the possibility of becoming addicted so i will take that on board. Staying away from low risk and high risk casino would be a good move for the time being.

There is no way on earth if you stick to risk free offers that you can fail to make a profit.
I do know what matched betting is. I am a mathematician. I also know that the op didn't stick to the rules in this instance. My friend did exactly that but she won. She then gradually took more and more risks and became a gambling addict. She has lost thousands although I know she sometimes makes money too.

Some people are more inclined to become addicted than others. I personally wouldn't take the risk because I have seen how horrendous the addiction is.
