Is Donald Trump ill? Otherwise what would explain such imbecility?

Has he missed some 💊 on his international flight? Who visits someone and promptly pisses on the doorstep? His comments about Sadiq Khan are beyond disgraceful. Disgusting creature.

I am proud of these young people. After all, children are our future.
Teach them well and let them lead the way. Wink

greenlloon · 04/06/2019 09:34

what he said was right about kahn london is a failing city.

escapade1234 · 04/06/2019 09:35

I’m all for peaceful protest Bertrand but this feels different. It’s just so immature. I think it only reflects badly on the protesters.

greenlloon · 04/06/2019 09:39

Obama did attract a huge amount of vitriol in the US. Not the least by a certain Donald J. Trump.
Obama was intelligent, articulate, kind, knowledgeable, a gentleman.
obama thought there is 58 states in his country thought there is such thing as an Austrian language

NoBaggyPants · 04/06/2019 09:49

@greenlloon What part of that is down to Kahn? If you're talking about police cuts, he doesn't set the funding. What are your other concerns about London?

user1495390685 · 04/06/2019 09:49

Both Khan and Trump were elected in a democratic election. (The latter provides more comedy.) I don't like either of them, but we have to live with it and vote them out in the next election if we want rid.

NoBaggyPants · 04/06/2019 09:49
  • Khan!

I disagree. Trump only understands immature. Subtlety is not strong on that one.

Lweji · 04/06/2019 10:13

You understand that the electorate is not the same, no? There's no "we".

And protest against sitting officers is an old tradition. Nothing new. Governments have fallen because of protests. Democracy is not only based on elections. It's also based on freedom to protest.

derxa · 04/06/2019 10:13

someone somewhere thought having a blimp of the US President was a mature and diplomatic response and a great representation of British diplomacy hmm Compare it to how other European countries have acted on US visits. Yes.

Lizzie48 · 04/06/2019 10:14

Both Khan and Trump were elected in a democratic election.

Except for the fact that Hillary Clinton had more votes and the Russians hacked into her emails. (We'll never know the full story about that affair.)

justarandomtricycle · 04/06/2019 10:15

I mean, Sadiq Khan made a "you're a cunt" video initially.

Trump seems to have seen it on the plane, when he was looking forward to apparently a high point of his life with the state visit to the queen.

Mystery solved really.

PerkingFaintly · 04/06/2019 10:17

I've looked up the forecast for Portsmouth.

Light rain today, but should be dry tomorrow. There will be a moderate breeze though.

So, do we reckon the orange one will actually turn up to the commemoration? Or will the breeze be too scary for him?

BillGiggeloe · 04/06/2019 10:25

We're expecting him...everything is locked down, roads are closed already.

Apparently an anagram for Portsmouth is Shoot Trump.

I'm staying well away, wish he wasn't coming.

EleanorReally · 04/06/2019 10:40

Khan's tweet was quite thoughtful imo, but ill timed.

PerkingFaintly · 04/06/2019 10:43

Shock OMG, the Q-Anoners will get in a frenzy about that. Anagrams and numerology are like catnip to a certain type of conspiracy theorist.

Frankiestein402 · 04/06/2019 10:56

To emphasise an earlier post, the previous London mayor probably summed up trump better than Khan but then again he was equally blonde. mobile.twitter.com/ByDonkeys/status/1135436716683272192

Hellomatey001 · 04/06/2019 11:01

People complaining about the Trump blimp forget there was a Sadiq Khan blimp that flew over London too (a bikini clad one no less). Both got permission to fly. So if you complain about the Trump one, I suppose you'd be unhappy with the Khan one too......

Lweji · 04/06/2019 11:02

but ill timed.

Grin

It was timed for maximum impact. You say it as if it was an accident.

Helmetbymidnight · 04/06/2019 11:03

“The young people who are doing this might want to read a history book or two and then learn something about diplomacy and politics.”

What is it exactly you think the young protesters need to learn?

Lweji · 04/06/2019 11:07

I'm well into my 40s and have an interest in politics and history.
I think the youngsters do well to challenge Trump, even if by less than mature means.
I'd also like to know what I should learn about diplomacy.

PerkingFaintly · 04/06/2019 11:23

Hah, that Led By Donkey clip is amazing.Grin

It's Boris Johnson in 2015 saying:

I think Donald Trump is clearly out of his mind if he thinks that’s a sensible way to proceed.
You can’t ban people going into the United States in that way or indeed to any country, and what he is doing is playing the game of the terrorists and those who seek to divide us.

That is exactly the kind of reaction they hope to produce.

And I have to say, when Donald Trump says there are parts of London that are no-go areas I think he is displaying a quite stupefying ignorance that makes him frankly unfit to hold the office of President of the United States.

I would invite him to come and see the whole of London and take him round the city, except I wouldn’t want to expose Londoners to unnecessary risk of meeting Donald Trump.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 04/06/2019 11:26

Diplomacy = if you are leader of a strong country you get to say whatever you like about anyone and if anyone should be unhappy about it, tough shit. Also you get to deny that you said it. Even if it's on record. Because Fake News, init.

PerkingFaintly · 04/06/2019 11:26

Oops, Donkeys not Donkey.

Anyway, they're projecting Johnson onto the Big Ben tower...

People who think they can ingratiate their way into Trump's books by flattering him are mistaken. Trump is out for Trump first and foremost, and then right wing white America second. The UK comes a long way down the list. Their will be absolutely no sentiment on the US negotiators part when it comes to negotiating a trade deal if/when Brexit happens. The UK will be desperate for a deal and will have absolutely no bargaining power.
