Is this a bit excessive?

This is petty and lighthearted before anyone wades in.

DH thinks IABU but when DS and I are here alone all week we probably use 4 pints of milk in the weekdays (1 big container).

DS is away and DH is here with his 2 teenage DC.

DH and I have 1 cup of coffee in the morning, thats it. His DC have unlimited cups of tea and we are getting through 4 pints of milk a day. IMHO this is excessive and a bit ridiculous.

Am 1?

This is a bit random....but I believe around a pint of milk per day gives you the recommended daily amount of calcium (but I am no scientist so don’t quote me)

Except for my mum, (who is involved in questionnaire studies into ageing and longevity with Cambridge University......well she gets her calcium intake from cream cakes - apparently!) 😂

Hollyhobbi · 05/06/2019 23:43

Tor8181 have you had your blood calcium levels checked? GERD is one of the symptoms of an Endocrine disorder that causes high blood calcium levels. And if you do drink that much milk have you been tested for diabetes and hyperthyroidism? As excessive thirst is a symptom of both these diseases and the Endocrine disease I already mentioned.

It’s their fathers choice to let them drink sugary milk, and his responsibility to replace stuff and to worry about their health. (Or not. Since it sounds like he’s not remotely bothered.) keep some cows milk separate for yourself, or drink coconut milk or whatever, no one else will use it and you won’t have to think about drinking cows milk that’s had someone’s gob suckling from the bottle at the fridge.

*It’s not about that.

It’s about not using anything excessively and exercising restraint. There is absolutely no need to drink so much tea that you are caning 4 pints a day between two of you and 1kg of sugar over 4.5 days.*

Oh my days, you're serious aren't you?

They are teenagers. They are drinking a lot of tea. It's no big deal, get over it. Better tea than pop or energy drinks or alcohol!

I have a feeling that you are one of those people who thinks that any more than 2 squares of toilet paper or one biscuit is excessive too!

Sometimes people like to indulge themselves a little, and when indulging takes the form of tea, its pretty harmless.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 06/06/2019 10:09

I’d buy more milk (and stick it in an ice cube tray in the freezer for your own coffee but don’t let anyone know it’s there)

And hide the sugar. That’s a bonkers amount of sugar to be using. No-one needs that. They must be addicted.

TheSerenDipitY · 06/06/2019 10:45

the husband and son use 2 liters a day here, i dont use any, at all! coffees cereal, milkshakes etc, guess its not soda or juice ( although soda and juice are cheaper than milk here in NZ)

magneticmumbles · 06/06/2019 10:52

DH and 3 year old DS go through 22 pints a week.

BumandChips · 06/06/2019 10:56

This is really quite the opposite of our house where our milk regularly goes out of date! We are just not big milk fans.

RestingBitchFaced · 06/06/2019 11:14

Same Bumandchips I buy a pint a week, and usually end up throwing most of that away as it's gone out of date. Same with sugar, haven't bought a bag in years! Only have it here for visitors
I do work in a coffee shop though so am probably fed up of seeing tea and coffee every day
