To request people don’t use my toilet at house viewings?

Just that really ...

As obviously it has been used today and it’s grossed me out.

AllOverIt · 28/05/2019 17:12

Um. That's gross.

Were you present at the viewing? The estate agent should have done a check before they left.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 28/05/2019 17:12

If you want to piss them off and put them off the house, go ahead.

floraloctopus · 28/05/2019 17:13

Go out when there are viewings and let the estate agent do them and then you won't have to know.

SmellbowSmellbow123 · 28/05/2019 17:13

I agree with you wholeheartedly!

LarryGreysonsDoor · 28/05/2019 17:13

Would you rather they pissed on the hall carpet?

Toilets are for using. Unless they left it smeared with shit you are being extremely unreasonable.

RitaTheBeater · 28/05/2019 17:13

I think half the time people just want to check the plumbing. They don’t actually need the toilet.

Lazypuppy · 28/05/2019 17:13

Why has it grossed you out?

opheliasknickers · 28/05/2019 17:15

they`re checking the plumbing.

Teddybear45 · 28/05/2019 17:16

Unless you’re selling privately you can’t say no as it would cause the estate agent to discriminate against disabled people - some estate agents will often offer you (paid for) cleaning services after a series of viewings.

Conks · 28/05/2019 17:16

Very weird that it grosses you out.

mintich · 28/05/2019 17:17

That is so odd!

HoldingTheDoor · 28/05/2019 17:17

Would you rather they shit on your lawn or rug?

I've never encountered people who are so precious about their toilets as on MN. So long as they don't leave a mess I don't see the issue. It's a receptacle designed for the very purpose of defecating and urinating. I'm assuming that unlike the rest of the population you shit fairydust and rainbows?

LouiseMiltonSpatula · 28/05/2019 17:17

Did they leave it in a mess? If so yanbu but if they just used it like normal I wouldn’t be too cut up about it. Bear in mind that if someone asks and you say no you may put them off the house!

happyhillock · 28/05/2019 17:17

You are joking, people can't time when they need to go to the toilet.

Skittlesss · 28/05/2019 17:18

I flushed the toilet when I was at house viewings. Also turned taps on and off.

Drum2018 · 28/05/2019 17:19

I'm assuming there is evidence that it was used while you were not there - yes that's gross. I wouldn't like it either.

DirtyDennis · 28/05/2019 17:19

YANBU.

Vulpine · 28/05/2019 17:20

If they can't clean up after themselves then yes it's gross

LarryGreysonsDoor · 28/05/2019 17:21

It depends what the evidence is.

Skid marks - gross.
Not leaving the paper in a little triangle - get a grip.

DeadButDelicious · 28/05/2019 17:21

I will never understand the preciousness some people seem to have over their toilet. If someone visiting/viewing my home needed to relive themselves they are more than welcome to use the facilities available. That's what it's for.

Unless there is a massive drip feed coming that they've left a massive floater or done it on the floor or something then yes, YABU.

RussianSpamBot · 28/05/2019 17:21

Viewers are going to assume you're trying to hide something about the plumbing, at best. If you have a highly sought after and/or extremely competitively priced property it might be ok because enough people will want it that you can afford to put some off. But otherwise I wouldn't.

DeadButDelicious · 28/05/2019 17:23

Relieve not relive.

IceCreamFace · 28/05/2019 17:24

Everyone will assume there's something wrong with the plumbing. I think in general if someone comes into your home you have to let them use the toilet otherwise you come across as massively odd. It's gross if people leave a mess though!

Honeybee85 · 28/05/2019 17:24

I understand you OP.
I also do not like it. My mum would clean the toilet at home after a birthday, not that it was particulary dirty but she didnt like the idea of sharing her toilet with people who are outside her household. I disagree with my mum 99% of the times but regarding this I feel the same way.

For example some men stand up whilst peeing - I always asked everyone to sit down since I don’t like scrubbing other people’s pee of my bathroom floor. You cant control that when viewers come with a real estate agent. Plus I dont like the idea of strangers sitting with their bum on my toilet seat - at home I want the freedom of not having to cover the seat with toiletpaper as I do in public toilets. YANBU at all.
