I've just deleted another 7166 unread emails... I'm overwhelmed. I think they are breeding.

I had around that many - when I was locked out of my email for 6 months!

I check them every day. These are the useless boring ones and the self-explanatory ones like 'Fred Bloggs commented on a photo you were tagged in on Facebook' or 'Your Argos order has been despatched'.

Setting my notification parameters and unsubscribing from anything that is "fluff" has helped me a bunch. I HATE unread emails, so managing them helps me pretend that I am a functional adult.

@10percentbatteryremaining ooh thank you! I feel so much better!

I have 6079 unread on my gmail account. Feeling better seeing 10percent’s figure though! Mind you that cavalier attitude to battery remaining is worrying! Grin

Nalaking · 28/05/2019 04:10

I currently have 51,503 unread emails. Wink

Slapdasherie · 28/05/2019 04:12

I have 49,902 emails. I’m waiting for the magic 50k, then I’ll wipe the whole lot.

I have over 50k unread emails... luckily Outlook now has the 'Focused' mailbox which appears to filter the important emails (your Just Eat order is on its way).

RainbowWaffles · 28/05/2019 05:03

I have had similar amounts in the past. Can you sweep delete every email from the same sender? That can help clear lots. Plus I unsubscribed from loads of the junk emails as I just couldn’t bear getting so much crap every day.

RaymondReddington · 28/05/2019 05:14

You're all giving me anxiety with these declarations GrinConfused do none of you find things chaotic when it comes to managing life? I wouldn't be able to sleep with more than 3 unread mails

I have 5 email addresses: 1 professional, 1 for signing up for things, 1 work, 1 in my birth name (hardly used) and a recent governor one for DC's school. There are less than 20 active emails over all of them. I use folders and unsubscribe to all marketing tripe.

What comes in is relevant.

Skittlesandbeer · 28/05/2019 05:14

I wait until I’m home sick then spend the day mass deleting 1000’s of emails. Unsubscribing from bastard mailing lists I never asked to be on, and updating my notification preferences on regular-use websites.

It is boring, but a necessary part of modern life. Very satisfying when it’s done. Also helps that when I’m sick, I don’t overthink the deleting. I just plow on...

cantfindname · 28/05/2019 05:23

You are being very very unreasonable!!

What about all those foreigners waiting to deposit vast sums of money in your account? Think how they feel .

What about all the chances you are missing to buy cut price Viagra?

Or penis extensions.

Really, get your act together and answer every single one Grin Grin

Cantthinkofausername1990 · 28/05/2019 06:34

I have thousands too, last time I remember noticing the number it was 11,000. That was last year.
Emails are checked every day in case something comes in that I need to read, I just leave the other emails unread that I don't need to read.
Never occurred to me to go deleting them!

PianoTuner567 · 28/05/2019 07:23

Just get into the habit of left swiping when you see one you don’t need or once you’ve read. Takes less than a second.

cheesenpickles · 28/05/2019 07:36

I'm not organised at many things in life but all three on my inboxes have no unread emails. The thought of there being a little red mark on my iPhone screen gives me anxiety. I also clear out my Junk boxes daily too.

Do have trouble putting my phone down though. ConfusedBlush

DreamsOfDownUnder · 28/05/2019 07:58

In one box I have 69,790 then 481 junk and in my other box I have 48,595 😁

No idea what is in my gmail accounts as it just says 99+ in all 3 in the app and I can't be bothered logging into the website.

I have yahoo and an old hotmail too that I haven't used in years upon years.

Emojina · 28/05/2019 07:59

I have over 100,000 unread... and it doesn’t bother me at all... Smile

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 28/05/2019 08:02

This is why I love my gmail account: it sorts them for me and only tells me the unread number in my inbox - both gmail and I ignore whatever number goes into my "Social" and "Promotions" folders Grin
