To say breastfeeding does ruin your boobs?

When I was pregnant, everywhere said ‘breastfeeding doesn’t change your boobs, pregnancy does’ now pregnancy did change my boobs everytime however, the child I did breastfeed - once I weaned, my boobs pretty much disappeared like someone had deflated a balloon on a completely different level. I went from an E to barely filling a B cup once milk dried up.

Speaking to other mums, I was certainly not alone.

So AIBU to call bullshit on the popular advice ‘breastfeeding doesn’t ruin your boobs, pregnancy does’

I understand this is probably said so people aren’t put off breastfeeding but there is no need to treat woman like idiots. Informed choices is important. I struggle so much with body image and confidence and it’s been shattered. I wish people were honest with woman from the beginning.

I breastfed for four years. I'm now nearly 50, boobs are a D cup and very perky.

When I get my mammograms they comment on the fact that I have dense breast tissue.

My boobs were fine after pregnancy, but after breastfeeding they were temporarily awful! Thank God they went back to normal in the end as I was getting really down about it. 100% it was breastfeeding and not pregnancy that was responsible, I don't care what anyone says!

I went from a 30E pre-pregnancy to a 32G now, one year post-weaning. I wish mine had shrunk! Weight hasn't changed, I'm back in all my pre-pregnancy jeans but none of my tops. I look matronly now.

I breastfed my three daughters, I was a 32b in those days (my children are now adults themselves)
I’m now a very voluptuous 38dd and my boobs look great, even undressed they still sit in the right place, no sagging, no bagging.

It does take time for them to ‘re-plump’ once breastfeeding has finished, not months but years later they should look great again.

Yours have done the job they were designed to do, so don’t place to much on how they look now. I know Fanny’s and wombs change after childbirth, most people have a different shape, tummy’s never quite the same etc.

Give yourself time to return to as near your pre pregnancy body.

mine are exactly the same before/after 2 breastfed children. 32 B if you need details

tealandteal · 27/05/2019 07:02

How recently did you stop? Mine were an E, got bigger during early bf and settled down as I bf for 18 months. They looked a bit sad when I first stopped feeding. Nearly 6 months later they look pretty much normal.

b0bb1n · 27/05/2019 07:07

I sometimes wonder what effect EPing will have on mine. I use some powerful suction settings Confused

whereonearth · 27/05/2019 07:10

Mine are exactly the same

Iggly · 27/05/2019 07:11

They changed while I was pregnant- I remember!

Then I lost a lot of weight and breastfed - more changes.

So I don’t think it’s solely breastfeeding.

And even if it did, so what. They fed my babies - bloody important!

NauseousMum · 27/05/2019 07:19

b0bb1n i bf and expressed (very strong) suction and my breasts were fine then. Nipples a lot bigger but breasts the same.

It's my tummy i could never get rid of. Always looked pregnant despite slimming down the pouch stayed.

Airbiscuits · 27/05/2019 07:28

Mine are better. 32a/b pre bf, 34C now. And still perky.
Stomach looks like porridge though.

RedSheep73 · 27/05/2019 07:50

Can't say I noticed any difference from bf, to be honest. When I lost 4 stone, my boobs were awful, but now I've put it all back on again, they're great. So I reckon it's weight loss rather than bf that's the problem.
