Do you snuggle in front of the TV with DC/DP and go out for brunch

Or do you watch telly and go out to eat?

I never here anyone in rl talk about snuggling or describe a meal as brunch.

Is it just a cringey MN thing?

I go out to brunch with my mum... isn't that just what the name of the meal you can have between breakfast and lunch?
I don't snuggle down and watch tv with my mum though hahahaha!
I would say I use the word snuggle occasionally to my partner, for example if I'm at work a text saying I would must prefer to be snuggled at home with him instead.
Only been on mumsnet a week so I guess I'm lame all on my own! Wink

kandykane77 · 23/05/2019 13:57

No, my DS and I snuggle in front of the tv or with a book and we eat brunch but we cook it at home.

SentientPotato · 23/05/2019 13:58

Ugh god no! No snuggling. No use of 'DC'. No brunch.

Happyspud · 23/05/2019 14:00

I do both. And my 3 yr old says oooh lovely, snuggley-buggley as she ‘snuggles’ in.

MustardScreams · 23/05/2019 14:01

I snuggle dd and take her out for brunch at the weekend.

It’s fine. Why does someone using those terms have to be mocked or pointed out? People live differently, shockingly.

OhMsBeliever · 23/05/2019 14:02

Yes, I snuggle with my youngest. And we have brunch on Saturdays.

SmellbowSmellbow123 · 23/05/2019 14:03

The word ‘snuggle’ is a bit twee for me.

Pinkvoid · 23/05/2019 14:03

I use DP as a foot rest in the evening while we watch Netflix if that counts? Wink

MindyStClaire · 23/05/2019 14:05

I don't snuggle. We go out for brunch every Sunday we're home.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 23/05/2019 14:06

I never snuggle, it’s watching even if we are under a blanket together. But I do go out for brunch.

iklboo · 23/05/2019 14:06

DS(13) loves coming into our room for hugs & snuggling. Usually while we watch something we all like on tv.

We occasionally go out for brunch, but usually call it 'summat to eat' Grin

Cariadne · 23/05/2019 14:06

I go out to brunch if it’s brunch, which is a specific thing and different to breakfast or lunch. I probably do describe things as snuggling as well. Sorry!

mindutopia · 23/05/2019 14:08

I don’t think I’ve ever snuggled in front of the tv with anyone, maybe my husband when we were young and dating. Now if we ever get to watch tv it’s usually while working on our laptops simultaneously. No snuggles involved.

I used to go out for brunch every weekend. It’s just breakfast with heavy pre-noon drinking. I don’t do that anymore because most people frown on 11am drinking with kids in tow. If I want prosecco before noon on a Sunday, I’m resigned to doing it at home now.

Zoflorabore · 23/05/2019 14:09

I don't watch the tele anymore but even when I did I was never a snuggler!

I do use the word brunch if it describes food being eaten in the place of breakfast/lunch or a late breakfast/early lunch.

Each to their own though. I don't worry about what others do so don't expect them to be bothered about me. Case in point- lunatic NDN asked if I had watched a certain programme ( she knows I don't watch tv, everyone else in my house does though ) and when I told her for the millionth time she was all faux shocked and couldn't beleive that anyone could survive without neighbours/hollyoaks/eastenders etc.

This is a person who is upset that JK show has finished so you see what I'm dealing with Grin

Areyoufree · 23/05/2019 14:09

What's wrong with brunch? I frikkin' love brunch! It's my favourite meal!

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 23/05/2019 14:11

I snuggle with dp on the sofa. If I’m doing food etc, he’ll say ‘come and give me a snuggle’, then when we watch tv we do snuggle, until I get too warm and go to the opposite end of the sofa. After a while he’ll say ‘come back and snuggle’.

Ds19 watches tv with us. Ds14 never ever watches tv. He’s always on the Xbox or PC with his headset attached.

We go out for lunch and dinner. Never breakfast or brunch (I’m not a morning person!).

amusedbush · 23/05/2019 14:11

I bloody love brunch, it's the best!

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/05/2019 14:13

I use 'snuggle' with DD. Not in public though and certainly not on social media. Heaven forfend.

arethereanyleftatall · 23/05/2019 14:13

Yes, I snuggle and have brunch, if I haven't had breakfast and I'm hungry and it's 11am, since that's what the word means.

twirlypoo · 23/05/2019 14:15

I snuggle AND do brunch. Both are fricking amazing!

LaDameAuxLicornes · 23/05/2019 14:16

I don't snuggle or watch tv, but brunch has been around for decades so isn't very unusual is it? We'd more usually have it at home, though - brunch out usually expensive and dull.

TheVanguardSix · 23/05/2019 14:17

DH and I fall asleep on the sofa to back-to-back Rick and Morty episodes. I drool.

HennyPennyHorror · 23/05/2019 14:18

I do have brunch with friends....but no to "snuggling" "snuggles" and even "cuddles".

Hugs are what we have.

ItsAllGone19 · 23/05/2019 14:19

No snuggling here, we're Welsh so we cwtch.

My husband doesn't eat until after 2pm most days no reason he's just delightfully weird and we don't like eating out so I wouldn't dream of using that language on here...it's not remotely connected to my reality.

WorriedMami · 23/05/2019 14:21

I snuggle with the DC, also on the sofa watching tv if they are ill. Else they watch tv when I need to get something done. They are up before 6, so I wouldn't last until "brunch" time. I did use the word pre-DC.
Also use DH as a foot rest whilst watching Netflix, we rarely watch the same thing.
