Do you snuggle in front of the TV with DC/DP and go out for brunch

Or do you watch telly and go out to eat?

I never here anyone in rl talk about snuggling or describe a meal as brunch.

Is it just a cringey MN thing?

I still snuggle in front of the TV on occasion with dh - but not with ds any more. At 18, he thinks he is too big Grin

We do make ourselves brunch on special occasions: New Year's Day, birthdays (if we're at home) and anniversaries, bank holiday weekends Smile

DD12 and I snuggle a lot.

We also call it "brunch" if that is what we're having!

PollyShelby · 23/05/2019 14:38

What do you mean by snuggling? Lounging on each other?

NowlistenhereHelenArcher · 23/05/2019 14:38

Could this not just have been added to either of the other 2 current posts that slag off what people say on MN?

No because I've not seen them but please feel free to press the 'hide' button.

Snuggle with my DH yes, DC no. I've never been for brunch. Sounds very posh though 😁

riotlady · 23/05/2019 14:38

We snuggle on the sofa, yes!
I don’t ever have brunch really as I’m usually up at 7 so couldn’t last that long, but I don’t think it’s a weird word to use?

Bluerussian · 23/05/2019 14:41

Always used the word, "brunch". It's not a new, trendy or a mumsnet word.

BIgBagofJelly · 23/05/2019 14:42

And don't you be so sensitive- it's just a chat forum.

Why do you need sensitivity when calling people "cringey". I didn't realise brunch or snuggling was such an emotionally charged issue for you!

Out of interest what do you say if you're going out for brunch? Or do you only eat at rigidly determined meal times coinciding with either breakfast or lunch but nothing in between?

Haisuli · 23/05/2019 14:44

I've never had brunch.
Snuggling is not for this time of year.
Watch a LOT of telly.

crochetmonkey74 · 23/05/2019 14:44

I cwtch or snuggle and yes Brunch is my fave meal to eat out!

Drogosnextwife · 23/05/2019 14:44

No snuggling, just lying on the couch. Never had brunch in my life just late breakfast Grin

Calloway · 23/05/2019 14:44

Brunch is a specific thing, not a cutsie word. I bloody love a good brunch.

I sometimes do some snuggling action but I'd never say the word out loud. Way too twee for me.

misskatamari · 23/05/2019 14:45

i don't snuggle with dh on the sofa - i'm usually surrounded by a mound of yarn so he's no chance of getting near :D I'd snuggle with the kids, under a blanket, to watch a film tho

Don't go to brunch either but I'd love to, mmm tasty food between breakfast and lunch

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 23/05/2019 14:47

no snuggling and though I never go for brunch these days I have done and very delicious it is too.

DesparateDino · 23/05/2019 14:47

I don't think I have ever been to brunch.

I am not a cuddly person so we don't really snuggle. I always have a child sat right next to me usually though.

I really hate "curl up on the sofa" just imagine loads of people in the fetal position.

NowlistenhereHelenArcher · 23/05/2019 14:48

Are you not a native English speaker, OP? You seem puzzled by notions like idiolect and dialect

Definitely a native English speaker but I'm off to look up "idiolect" Smile

BigBagofJelly - you're so touchy - come and have a snuggle and unclench!

JonSnowsFurCoat · 23/05/2019 14:53

I snuggle up with dc when dh is on a late shift or if they’re home sick from school. Sometimes when it’s really wet outside we’ll snuggle and watch a movie. Not with dh though.

I do brunch with friends occasionally.

AryaStarkWolf · 23/05/2019 14:59

Big girl pants is the most cringey annoying phrase I've come across on MN

InACheeseAndPickle · 23/05/2019 15:00

come and have a snuggle and unclench!

Says the OP who started a thread about two totally normal words!

Maybe OP can provide a MN friendly thesaurus which lists the vocabulary which would be acceptable to her! Excuse me why I snuggle with the cat in sunshine (I'm still full from a big brunch).

DarlingNikita · 23/05/2019 15:00

I don't use the word snuggle but yes, I do go for brunch (and make it at home too). Frankly, anyone still sneering at the word or activity 'brunch' is stuck about fifteen years ago, when I would concede it probably was a bit of a niche/pretentious thing to do; it's so mainstream these days that I can't imagine it would raise any eyebrows.

AryaStarkWolf · 23/05/2019 15:02

Oh and those you mentioned I would say schnuggle(no snuggle) irl but not brunch

Hedgehogblues · 23/05/2019 15:03

I live in Wales so I cwtch

AlyssasBackRolls · 23/05/2019 15:04

Definitely brunch on a Sunday here. I do something nice like boiled eggs or bagels and scramble around 10 or 11 o clock and usually put it on trays so we all have it lounging in our respective beds!

I do sometimes snuggle on couch with youngest watching some nonsense on netflix or britains got talent etc.

Afreet · 23/05/2019 15:05

Big girl pants is the most cringey annoying phrase I've come across on MN

I have a beloved American friend who says 'Pull on your big girl panties'. Which always gives me a vision of someone in hurry, trying desperately to hop into a pair of giant knickers with polkadots while looking for their keys and bag.
