Do you snuggle in front of the TV with DC/DP and go out for brunch

Or do you watch telly and go out to eat?

I never here anyone in rl talk about snuggling or describe a meal as brunch.

Is it just a cringey MN thing?

Brunch is Really popular near where I live - all the restaurants have cottoned on the fact that there’s yet another meal they can make money from! The queues are long on the weekend. And the variety of what is considered brunch food is vast. There’s at least 5 restaurants within 100m of my flat that offer interesting and varied brunch and it’s great for people watching!

TheTitOfTheIceberg · 23/05/2019 14:22

I call it brunch if it is literally brunch, i.e. a replacement for both breakfast and lunch.

MaMisled · 23/05/2019 14:22

DC are grown up but, at every opportunity, we get snuggly buggly. We regularly go out for a nitpick brunch and we go on holibobs. Would never ever ever let anyone outside family hear us say these this in RL though!!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 23/05/2019 14:24

Ha ha, just about to say we cwtch. Brunch is something we normally do on a weekend away after a late start. I know my grown up daughters do a lot of boozey brunching with friends though.

BossAssBitch · 23/05/2019 14:24

My DH often whatsapps me that he can't wait to 'get hygge' later. We are definitely snugglers. We also go out for brunch at the weekends too. Not sure why its cringe, the word has been around for many many years, a combination of breakfast and lunch eaten during mid morning. Very widely used in London.

Afreet · 23/05/2019 14:25

Why wouldn't you say brunch, if that was what it was, a sort of composite late morning meal, usually at the weekend? I wouldn't call it brunch if it was six pm.

And I kind of hate television, so no.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 23/05/2019 14:25

We are a household of snugglers, especially on cooler days because snuggling requires the sharing of a blanket. Otherwise you are just sharing a sofa.

ElizaPancakes · 23/05/2019 14:27

Yes and yes. I’m not one for cutesy language normally but we do indulge in those activities!

ElizaPancakes · 23/05/2019 14:27

We also snuggle under blankets.

I think the most cringey MN thing is picking apart any turn of phrase that isn't used in your personal tiny corner of the world - don't be so myopic. I don't personally but of course people say "snuggle". Who cares if it's not the particular word you use. There are different turns of phrase among different people and in different parts of the country. Yes some people say they're going out for brunch, if they're going out between breakfast and lunch for some food. Surely you know what they mean so what exactly is the problem?

DontTouchMyCurls · 23/05/2019 14:30

DP works 7.30 till 4.30 so no brunch here. On an evening I put my feet on him so he can tickle my legs

NowlistenhereHelenArcher · 23/05/2019 14:31

Do you chuck a sickie or have a "duvet day"
Do you watch a film or have a "family movie night"
Do you go out with your DH or have a "date night"

OP posts:
ChicCroissant · 23/05/2019 14:31

We haven't done it for a while but we used to have Friday film nights where we'd make popcorn and the three of us (me, DD and DH) would snuggle on the sofa and watch a film. Happy days!

Femalebornandbreed · 23/05/2019 14:32

We have ‘mummy cuddles’ on the couch

😂😂😂

And don't you be so sensitive- it's just a chat forum.

DS used to ask his dad for a hairy snuggle when he was younger. His dad's very hairy and he used to love snuggling into it so.hed be summoned to remove his t-shirt.

Don't say brunch tho........and Ds is known as my beautiful boy. Poor old dd gets my beautiful, precious first born as a.call of affection.

They both run these days for some bizarre reason. Hmm

Femalebornandbreed · 23/05/2019 14:33

Oh yes we have date night & duvet day

Normally when I’m hung over..

PCohle · 23/05/2019 14:34

Weird things to be snobby about. What does it matter to you if people go out for brunch? You sound quite narrow minded.

Ewwwwwwwwww 😂😂😂

Cluelessbeetroot · 23/05/2019 14:34

We snuggle and have brunch.
The patio will be calling if he ever suggests “date night” though.

OKBobble · 23/05/2019 14:34

Could this not just have been added to either of the other 2 current posts that slag off what people say on MN?

Ninkaninus · 23/05/2019 14:34

I snuggle with my OH every evening and I describe it as such IRL. I also have been known to go out for brunch with him and, again, I would certainly describe it as such IRL, since that is, in fact, what it is.

I don’t find either of those cringeworthy.

Cluelessbeetroot · 23/05/2019 14:35

We also tell Ddog he’s teddy tired eyes and ask him if he wants to go beddy byes

I’ll get my coat.

Maybe OP wanted her voice heard. These threads are so busy...

Are you not a native English speaker, OP? You seem puzzled by notions like idiolect and dialect.
