@seaviewbliss the website is called Postcrossing 📮

You can send as many or as few as you like, I don't do it regularly but have had 60 odd over a couple of years.
Also I buy Stamps online (Philatelink or Ebay) as it's a bit cheaper.

Girls School stories - in particular those from the first half of the twentieth century.

And of course I have a specific shelf for mY Chalet School books.

JaffaCakesAreAMealInABite · 22/05/2019 19:57

2 whole shelves dedicated to Joey, Madame, Jem and Bill in this house Matilda. They are actually in DD1’s bedroom and she’s not convinced it’s a good use of the space... I am considering writing her out of the will.

Widdendream77 · 22/05/2019 19:59

I collect dead thingsShockGrin. My friends and Dh laugh about my dead collection and my best friend got me a display case for them. My best thing is a mummified bat I found about 15 years ago in a Roman ruin in Cumbria, followed by a scarab beetle a friend found me when we were in holiday in Egypt as 18 yr olds some 23 yrs ago. But I only tell people when I know them very wellGrinGrinGrin

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 22/05/2019 20:02

I haven’t managed to persuade any of my dds that the Chalet School is an important landmark in early twentieth century fiction. Dd1, however does enjoy Antonia Forrest, thus ensuring her the title of favourite daughter.

frugalkitty · 22/05/2019 20:02

I collect sea glass and interesting pebbles from the beach. As a child I collected all sorts of things, but my kids aren't impressed by my thimbles (months of the year, it took ages to find an April one) or my......whispers.....train ticket collection! Blush

babyno5 · 22/05/2019 20:08

Oh god @frugalkitty we have boxes of bus tickets and bus timetables in the loft 😂

Ratbagratty · 22/05/2019 20:18

Toot toots! Animal ones and I let the kids play with them begrudgingly!

vampirethriller · 22/05/2019 20:22

Antique jelly moulds, especially pineapple shaped ones. Nobody understands but they're beautiful.

Jonsnowsghost · 22/05/2019 20:22

Fridge magnets from all around the world, when someone goes away they get me one. The tackier the better!

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 22/05/2019 20:25

I''ve a massive Super Mario collection from my childhood that has somehow continued to grow as I've gotten older...

vampirethriller · 22/05/2019 20:25

@Widdendream77 I used to collect dead things. I had a sea horse, skulls, snakeskins, a dried bat and a pterosaur tooth. I lost the box they were in whilst moving house. Devastated.

krustykittens · 22/05/2019 20:32

Ball jointed dolls. I have loads of monster high and also resin ball jointed dolls in very elaborate costumes, fairies, vampires, demons etc. DH is terrified of them, especially the one who has jointed fingers and her grip feels real! Grin

frami · 22/05/2019 20:41

Ladybird books (old ones)
Shepherd and Sheep china and other "sheepy" stuff
Bulldogs
Fridge magnets (but only from places I've been)
Doll House stuff

babyno5 · 22/05/2019 20:44

I am loving this thread!!

Starbucks mugs. Especially the 'You are here' collection.
Manga/Anime figures - mainly the ones that are given away in Shonen Jump as prizes.
I pick up WDW maps whenever I go and save them.
I also have a horde of stationary, and I WILL notice if a pen has been nabbed.

MotherOfTheNoise · 22/05/2019 20:50

Thimbles and little tea spoons 😂 I even have special display cabinets for them on the walls. I am an old lady at heart and I'm not even 30!

Justsocross · 22/05/2019 20:59

Note books !!! I’ve collected them for years and have hundreds. My children think I’m so odd as I rarely use the money Blush

ReapersHowler · 22/05/2019 21:02

@KrustyKittens I'm very jealous of your collection! I'd love to collect more BJD but can't justify the prices right now so I customize my own MH dolls.

NCB2019 · 22/05/2019 21:06

Souvenir pennies that you squash through a penny press at tourist attractions.

SeaViewBliss · 22/05/2019 21:27

Thanks Haribo - I'll have a look.

grumpyyetgorgeous · 22/05/2019 21:31

Unicorns, but my collection dates back well before they became popular with 8 year old girls...... nobody believes me though!

rslsys · 22/05/2019 21:32

Tractors - not toy ones!

EileenAlanna · 22/05/2019 21:46

When I was 13/14 my bestest friend & I realised we needed to become collectors in order to be fully rounded interesting members of society. We decided on blotting paper. Every day we went to the school repository (convent school girls) & on an alternating basis 1 of us bought 2 sheets for 1d. Our superb, possibly unique, collection ended when we were summoned to the headmistresses office & interrogated on what exactly our motives were. Not only were we banned from ever buying blotting paper again, she subsequently enforced a school-wide ban - she probably resented that others began buying them on our behalf. Sadly, I've been too traumatised by the experience to ever consider collecting anything else. When you start with the crème de la crème nothing else can ever fill that void.

Sleepybumble · 22/05/2019 21:48

I collect sachets of sugar. Ive collected them since I was about 9. Used to be sugar cubes but you never get them anymore.
