Fridge magnets from wherever we visit on holiday/trips. Dh and the dcs mock me incessantly, but they always remind me to get another when we're away, and also help me choose unusual and whacky ones. No boring rectangular photos for us! They're a nice reminder of everywhere we've been.

MissBridgetJones · 26/05/2019 14:13

Antique cutlery - I know, I know! 😂
I have a Pickle fork that is my pride and joy!!!
And don't start me on the Brie spoon....

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 26/05/2019 14:18

Ooh! A pickle fork? I just found one of those when clearing out my late mother's sideboard drawers! Didn't think they still existed.

Emma Bridgwater here too although I haven’t bought any this year . I tend to only buy in the sales for maximum value . My best purchase was a discontinued teapot for £15. I also love Lego minifigures and have all the recent series . I do tell people the kids collect them but it’s really me. I have the Harry Potter ones formed in my downstairs loo and want to get one of the frames from red square frames for the other series .

Purpletigers · 26/05/2019 15:05

Framed not formed

Umbrellas, proper ones, not collapsible ones. I love a good umbrella and recently bought a beauty in Japan. It cost about £38 and then I had to have it shipped home and that cost about as much again. I love it, keep opening it up just to look at it. My previous favourite is a plain black one but when you open it up it has Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' on a second skin inside. It brightens my day whenever I use it. I've got about a dozen - my husband doesn't get it at all.

I also collect tippy-up pens that you buy as souvenirs - I must have over 100. The best one is from Lourdes - when you tip it up the blessed virgin Mary drops into the grotto in front of Bernadette.

riotlady · 26/05/2019 15:21

@DavetheCat2001 that’s a beautiful collection! I love Pyrex. Do you hunt them down at car boot sales and eBay?

Dowser · 26/05/2019 15:26

Crystals and pendulums
Loads of crystals but only about 50 pendulums

FlorenceKettle · 26/05/2019 15:38

Lalique - have maybe 25 pieces plus jewellery

Lipsticks - have around 400

Handbags.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 26/05/2019 15:38

Love this thread. I seem to collect books.

I do consciously collect Agatha Christie books and Catherine Cookson. The older the better as I love the front covers. I used to collect dolls in national costume but DH relegated them to a cupboard. We do magnets. DS1 is the real collector. He collects statues of famous people, coins - the Peter Rabbit ones plus he has a number of Shakespeare coins too.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 26/05/2019 15:38

I do also keep all of my theatre tickets.

madcatladyforever · 26/05/2019 15:40

Adult collector dollshouses, they really are fabulous but people keep asking me why I play with childrens toys arghhhhhh.
They are not kids toys, they are works of art and I don't play with them.

RozHuntleysIncineratedHand · 26/05/2019 15:50

Anything Harry Potter. I have an unopened original chocolate frog from 2001 and Bertie Botts Beans from the same year.
DP's dad collects toby jugs- they're all over the front room in the house.

doodlejump1980 · 26/05/2019 15:56

I collect ice-cube trays. Got about 30 🤓

Dowser · 26/05/2019 16:10

Oh and semi precious gem stone beads and seed beads for all the jewellery I still haven’t got round to making
Also in the loft is my daughters collection of pot pouri pomanders
And my collection of play me pencil sharpeners that you can still get.. saw some in Whitby recently

I loved a collection of tea pots of the tv recently in someone’s house.. would love those
I have quite a collection of semi precious silver rings which I didn’t realise was a collection until now
Probably 50-70

DavetheCat2001 · 26/05/2019 19:07

@riotlady thank you!

Most of it came from eBay as it's tge US stuff I particularly love.

The shipping/customs duty is horrendous though 😩

StringyPotatoes · 27/05/2019 22:03

I collect pyjamas (specifically pyjama bottoms). Didn't really think of it as a collection until I read this thread. Seeing the fun, pretty patterns and the comfort I get wearing them brings me much joy!

I might have to stop collecting for a while as my pyjama drawer is bursting at the seams but realising that it is a "collection" rather than a case of "owning more pyjamas than necessary" makes me feel justified in continuing....

WhiteWavingCat · 27/05/2019 22:29

Fridge Magnets, my mum finds it hilarious, says I'm a bit old (27 Shock) for a magnet. I have loads

Purpletigers · 27/05/2019 22:33

Babyno - have you discovered Nicholas Mosse?

CorBlimeyGovenor · 27/05/2019 22:38

My father used to collect sugar cubes. He had quite the collection (they were wrapped and not plain, should you wonder). You don't see them like that anymore. Anyway, my poor mother walked in on him one day in bed shagging a young man. He insisted that he was doing no such thing, but that he was merely showing the chap his sugar lump collection. Her solicitor spat out his coffee when she cited the incident in her reason for divorce. It's become a bit of a euthermism on her side of the family.

CorBlimeyGovenor · 27/05/2019 22:48

Sleepybumble
My father collected sugar sachets too. Mostly from abroad. Whenever we went to France as a child, we came back with various floral patterned ones. You don't get them like that anymore!

CorBlimeyGovenor · 27/05/2019 22:50

Anyway, I didn't follow in my father's footsteps. I branched out. I collect bad amateurish paintings of cats!!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 28/05/2019 08:25

I just realised I also collect Osh Kosh dungarees for the kids - have 10 pairs at the mo from 0-3 month to 4years. I’m sure people do make fun of me when they’re both out and about wearing a pair 😄
