I collect vintage toys (particularly Barbie, dollhouses etc)... luckily my kids are young enough that I can pass it off as their collection 😁 I don’t know what I will do when they outgrow toys! My ideal job would be being a toy designer!

Decormad38 · 23/05/2019 05:00

Fridge magnets from holidays

Zoflorabore · 23/05/2019 05:21

When I was a child I collected rubbers ( erasers lol ) and had an amazing collection but do not know what happened to them all.

As an adult, I seemingly am obsessed with cleaning products and was diagnosed with OCD 2 years ago after suffering my whole life ( I'm 41 ) and it centres around smells, cleaning and order. I also have a large Zoflora collection, hence my username!

Here is a pic of one of my cleaning cupboards.

@DoneAdulting Any coin collecting tips? I've not found any A-Z 10p coins, it's driving me insane. Started to use cash everywhere but not seen one.

Having said that really get any collecting coins in my change. This year only got a 50p & £2 so far and that was at a weekend in Wales.

I thought these 10p would be easier to find being 26 off them!

HariboLectar · 23/05/2019 07:33

madder one of my colleagues gets his local Post Office to save him any special coins they come across (I'm guessing he knows them quite well).

I forgot I collect coins too (50p & £2) and did end up buying the Beatrix Potter 50p from a coin website Blush

ImpracticalCape · 23/05/2019 07:39

A bunch of us stayed at a friends house years ago in our 20's and the only thing we could find to eat in her house once she'd gone to bed drunk was a shit load of out of date cans of novelty kids spaghetti shapes in tomato sauce (e.g Postman Pat, Tweenies, Eastenders themed).

We were drunk-hungry so we opened them all and shared them between us.

She only collected the fucking things! She went beserk!

SuperPixie247 · 23/05/2019 07:42

Donald Ducks Smile

My DM is also an avid collector of Chalet School books and regualrly keeps her eye out for first editions. I am a Great Disappointment that, although I adore books, I have never taken to the Chalet School.

Not sure some of these are worthy of poking fun at! To the poster who collects Vinyl, check out the documentary on Sound it Out Records in Stockton, I think its on Youtube. Some of their punters have INSANE collections.

TurquoiseAndPurple · 23/05/2019 07:57

Bonds wondersuits apparently 😂

Bloodybridget · 23/05/2019 08:08

Honestly, I don't think collecting old children's books could possibly be considered ridiculous! Oh . . could it?
I also have a dolls house. Not a perfect, everything to scale, exquisitely decorated and furnished one; it's an old Triang house, inexpertly painted, with non-functioning electric lights (I put them in myself, but they keep fusing), with furniture and bits and pieces in various scales, and over-populated by a tribe of little people from ELC - this kind of thing, but mine are older and look less gendered!

MrsMonkeyBear · 23/05/2019 08:13

Balls of wool, fabric, colouring books, buttons and knives (don't be alarmed, I'm a chef and have about 100 for different things)

Soubriquet · 23/05/2019 08:14

Nemesis Now ornanments
Santoro Gorjuss things
Disney things

And LOL dolls Blush

DuchessAnnogovia · 23/05/2019 08:17

I collect Discworld stuff. My favourite is a plushie of Greebo the cat.

Soubriquet · 23/05/2019 08:18

My dh has an impressive collection of Jurassic park comics. Some of them worth a lot of money now

He also collects Jurassic park memobillia

AngeloMysterioso · 23/05/2019 08:23

Haribo I ended up with a Peter Rabbit 50p completely by luck- it’s now saved in the “money I can’t spend” part of my purse next to the old fiver someone folded into an origami heart for me.

Steamfan · 23/05/2019 08:26

Barbie and her family. I have rather a lot, also Barbie books. I also love vintage china, and that's beginning to take over

DoneAdulting · 23/05/2019 08:26

@madderthenaboxofffrogs I work in a bank so I cheat and look through all the bags of coin. I must have shifted through thousands of pounds worth of 10ps to find the ones I have.

TitchyP · 23/05/2019 08:34

Lego! Unfortunately it takes up a lot of room so a bit restricted in what I can have. Also shoes and handbags Blush

SamanthaJayne4 · 23/05/2019 08:43

Jewellery, real or fake. Also have a dolls house which I buy bits for rarely now. I also have the dolls house basement awaiting painting and putting together. I have had it for 15 years!

Busybusybust · 23/05/2019 09:13

I have quite a large flock of sheep of various shapes and sizes.

I now collect dollshouse miniatures.

DesperadoDan · 23/05/2019 09:40

Minions. I am far too old to collect them but I adore them!

Orangesox · 23/05/2019 09:58

Hello Kitty plushies and related items. I even have one that I have in bed with me, but that’s mostly because her deformed head is squished to precisely the right shape to support my damaged shoulder. That weird, greying Hello Kitty goes all over the world with us GrinBlush

And crockery, mostly Denby but I have a massive selection of mismatched but loosely coordinating items - came in handy when I had a vintage themed wedding in my back garden at least... apparently this makes me a hoarding grandma according to DH.

madderthenaboxofffrogs · 23/05/2019 10:07

@DoneAdulting damn thought it would be something like that! and if you haven't got a full collection working in a bank, just proves how difficult it is to find them. I just want one little 10p to start my collection!

Have gone in the bank a few times and got bags off change but only £10 worth! Have got a few 50p doing this and I'll scream if I see one more 2017 Peter Rabbit 50p I have 10 off them.

I blame Peter Rabbit who got me into collecting coins in 2016 when I got one in my change and then discovered all these coins out there, Could cry how many 50p and £2 I've probably spent over the years that could now be in my collection.

Got Paddington 50p recently on weekend in Llandudno the same place I got that Peter Rabbit, not same shop and the shop assistant looked at me gone out how excited I was.

I drive DH mad as he is a delivery driver all over the UK and nag him to check his change but I know he doesn't and just rolls his eyes at me, when I make him empty his pockets.

One little 50p caused all this, off to get a job in a bank!

animaginativeusername · 23/05/2019 10:09

Books, fabric/textiles and beads. I willl eventually make myself something to wear and actually read the books

madderthenaboxofffrogs · 23/05/2019 10:18

@HariboLectar I'm not brave enough to do that! I know I need to befriended someone who works in a bank or post office.

I sometimes think off asking shop assistants but can never pluck up courage, maybe if no one is behind me in queue but there is always someone.

Damn u Peter Rabbit, was only going to collect Beatrix Potter 50p but no it's escalated.

Soubriquet · 23/05/2019 10:28

I’ve got a Benjamin Bunny and Miss Tiggywinkle 50p.

I don’t even collect them but I can’t bring myself to spend them either Confused
