To approach a man I see running?

I go for a run every Saturday morning and I quite regularly see a man who is also running. A few weeks ago he was wearing shorts and I admit I probably did look him up and down when we passed each other and I think he saw this. I then gave him a little smile, which most people do when they pass each other. When we passed each other a second time I think he wiped his sweat off and adjusted himself just before we got to each other.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and when I saw him next I looked down as I was a bit embarrassed to be honest but just as we passed, I looked up at him and he was smiling at me.

Anyway, he is good looking and for some reason I am really drawn to him. Obviously I know nothing about him or his relationship status but AIBU to try and flirt, or say something to him, try and attract his attention etc? What should I do?

Hopefully you don't live near Edinburgh as it's the emf and he might be running in that. But if not Good Luck!

Butternutsqoosh · 25/05/2019 08:12

Good Luck OP!! 🏃🏼‍♀️

MyGastIsFlabbered · 25/05/2019 08:26

Checking in! My boyfriend is just off to do a Parkrun so I'm fairly sure it's not him!

OhioOhioOhio · 25/05/2019 08:45

Omg. I forgot about this. Shamelessly placemarking.

jpclarke · 25/05/2019 08:48

I hope this has a happy ending

MollyHuaCha · 25/05/2019 08:54

Hope he was there OP!

messychocolate · 25/05/2019 09:34

So... I saw him twice. First time was just around a bend so didn't get much warning, but I smiled and kinda muttered hi. Bearing in mind we both wear headphones, I'm not really sure if anything came out of my mouth and even if it did, I'm sure he didn't hear it! He gave me a bit of a smile back.

Second time was along a long straight section so I saw him coming. I can confirm he wasn't wearing a wedding ring. Again I just looked at him and smiled. He literally just stared at me!! Is he a weirdo?!

Excellent Smile

MyOtherProfile · 25/05/2019 09:46

Fantastic progress.

We have to speed things up though or at a rate of one word a week it's going to take some time to even get coffee together!

SummerWhisper · 25/05/2019 09:51

His wife might be on mumsnet and he's RTFT.

Next time, stop for a stretch just AFTER you have passed him. If he comes to check that you are OK, you know that he has given you the look-back. Game on.

Macca84 · 25/05/2019 09:52

Maybe HE'S on MN and was wondering why you weren't twerking? Grin

3luckystars · 25/05/2019 10:02

Imagine next week you wore the cheerleader outfit like Rachel did in Friends.

SummerWhisper · 25/05/2019 10:09

He gave you a bit of a smile back so maybe he was surprised at your sudden friendliness, which is normal to you because he has become a talking point on here...I think we need to know the type of stare he gave you...

IncrediblySadToo · 25/05/2019 10:16

Hmm. Maybe he is strange. See what happens next week, maybe it’s time to start doing Park Run instead, lots more blokes there!

coffeehabit · 25/05/2019 10:30

Go one better and run like Phoebe. That'll get his attention....Wink

P.S

Thanks for keeping us posted! How many of us were refreshing this post to see what happened...

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 25/05/2019 10:52

If he's running then I think a bit of a smile is as much as you can hope for. Fingers crossed you bump into him somewhere else and can then easily strike up a conversation about your Saturday morning runs.

MRex · 25/05/2019 10:53

Can you run during the week too? This'll take ever so long if not.

Peachesandcream14 · 25/05/2019 10:57

You'll have to up the ante next Saturday OP to get a more definitive result

rritchie44 · 25/05/2019 11:31

Does your run become self conscious and change when you see him coming? Like that awkward walk all children do when trying on new shoes.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 25/05/2019 13:11

He literally just stared at me!! Is he a weirdo?!

This made me chuckle! Erm, have you read this thread, OP? And you think he's the weirdo?? 😂

EastRiver · 25/05/2019 13:15

He had probably just let out a fart OP and wasn't expecting you 😂

Aintnon · 25/05/2019 13:21

I can tell you where you went wrong:

You forgot to bend and snap!!!

BuntyBonus · 25/05/2019 13:23

managed mis
Your comment really tickled me!

Justaboy · 25/05/2019 14:47

Bearing in mind we both wear headphones, I'm not really sure if anything came out of my mouth and even if it did, I'm sure he didn't hear it

This is a problem these days once upon a time a lot of romances and come togethers happened on trains, now every sod has got phones on so now no one can talk to anyone any more:-(
