To approach a man I see running?

I go for a run every Saturday morning and I quite regularly see a man who is also running. A few weeks ago he was wearing shorts and I admit I probably did look him up and down when we passed each other and I think he saw this. I then gave him a little smile, which most people do when they pass each other. When we passed each other a second time I think he wiped his sweat off and adjusted himself just before we got to each other.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and when I saw him next I looked down as I was a bit embarrassed to be honest but just as we passed, I looked up at him and he was smiling at me.

Anyway, he is good looking and for some reason I am really drawn to him. Obviously I know nothing about him or his relationship status but AIBU to try and flirt, or say something to him, try and attract his attention etc? What should I do?

You could causally say. "Morning!, I'm putting in an extra lap today..." as you run past. See if he hangs around too.
If he does = probably interested
If he doesn't = tells you nothing if he cant understand subtle!

Good luck for tomorrow OP.

I’ve got one. It was a very long time ago. I’ve always been shy and it was a “now or never” situation and I went for it.
It was the last day of YTS (told you it was long ago) training induction before we went off on placement. I was infatuated with this lad. A group of us had all got on well together and starting meeting up but he never joined us once in those four weeks. Although, we’d have day-release training for the duration of the scheme, I couldn’t be sure if he (or I) would stick it out.

Deacon Blue were a favourite band of mine back then. I went and bought their previous single (showing age again) called “when will you make my phone ring?” on my lunch hour and scribbled our house telephone number on the sleeve.
I presented it to him as he was getting his bus home and quickly walked off to my bus stop. He rang that evening and we were inseparable for two years.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work out but that was because we were so young for such an intense relationship and lack of employment and other pressures.

But if a cripplingly shy 16 year old can manage it, eh OP Wink

What time do you usually get back from running on a Saturday OP? Not that I will be setting my alarm to check this thread for updates, noooo not me

messychocolate · 24/05/2019 21:45

I should be back about 9.30 tomorrow. I'm actually scared now! I'm a shy person by the way.

But eye contact, a smile and a "hi" is what I will try... while trying to spot a ring!

Good luck! Beautiful morning tomorrow. We WILL be expecting an update....

WhiskeyJarro · 24/05/2019 21:53

Can't wait for tomorrow now! Don't just do a "hello" OP, you need to pretend you've hurt yourself so you can properly engage in a chat, and then he will ask you for a coffee Smile

AuntieStella · 24/05/2019 22:01

Usually, in Saturday morning, the runners of MN can be found in the Parkrun thread. It'll be a bit different this week.....
