someone starts a word or expression and many mners start using it, it comes a fad, then after a while i=someone will say it's a tossy expression and everyone else agrees then said expression thankfully disappears from mn
said 'getting ducks in a row' is not often seen.
banging on about prosecco,
anyone think of any others ?

Ghastly" Have I wandered into an Enid Blyton boarding school?

I feel the same when I see ‘horrid’ or ‘gosh’. Do 21st Century adult women really use these words?

Yep and "Oh my goodness" "Goodness Me" "For Goodness Sake" "Heavens to Betsy"

I'm sure there are gazillions more equally horrendous expressions I use that you'd absolute loathe and detest.

Some of us are nearing our dotage don't you know 👀

Alsohuman · 27/05/2019 11:11

Thanks @Moonbeam. Goady much?

MyBlueMoonbeam · 27/05/2019 11:36

Thanks@Moonbeam. Goady much?

@Alsohuman
In what way is that goady FFS?
I am nearing my dotage 🙄

Alsohuman · 27/05/2019 11:57

Clearly. And disingenuous too.

radioactiveimagination · 27/05/2019 12:13

'I'm not woo' when talking about spooky stuff. Irritates the fuck out of me, not even sure why.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 27/05/2019 12:28

@Alsohuman

I'm 56 I use the expressions I quoted - now please fuck the fucking fuck off - we middle aged can also swear when necessary

Pgqio · 27/05/2019 12:50

I don't understand the weird argument that's broken out here.

Alsohuman · 27/05/2019 12:57

I’m 65 and can swear you under the table any day of the week. But l don’t do it because it’s not big and it’s not clever.

@pgqio, the weird argument resulted from the childish silly face response immediately after two people have said how much they piss them off.

Pgqio · 27/05/2019 13:00

Ah, thanks for explaining.

Theimpossiblegirl · 27/05/2019 13:12

I saw it as a joke.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 27/05/2019 13:31

The one that annoys me is "each to their own". It's meant to sound really reasonable on the part of the poster but actually means exactly the opposite: they are judging like mad.

For example: "Oh, I would never allow MY child to drink apple juice but each to their own!" The implication is that you may as well have given your child apple juice laced with crack cocaine, that's how much you're being judged.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 27/05/2019 14:16

@Theimpossiblegirl

I saw it as a joke.

It was

MyBlueMoonbeam · 27/05/2019 14:17

@Alsohuman

Give it a rest please

MyBlueMoonbeam · 27/05/2019 14:21

@pgqio, the weird argument resulted from the childish silly face response immediately after two people have said how much they piss them off.

No the argument was caused by the poster with no sense of humour and a very short fuse 😏

Alsohuman · 27/05/2019 14:28

Whatever.

Mythreefavouritethings · 27/05/2019 14:44

(After a Ripper-esque description of heinous behaviours) ‘...but other than that he’s an amazing husband/father...’ seems somewhat prevalent. This one makes me sad and cross.

Mythreefavouritethings · 27/05/2019 14:45

And of course the obligatory row....

DarlingNikita · 27/05/2019 16:41

(After a Ripper-esque description of heinous behaviours) ‘...but other than that he’s an amazing husband/father...’ Grin Grin

ThinThighsPlease · 27/05/2019 16:48

"said no one ever". Fuck off.

MissLadyM · 27/05/2019 16:57

Toms, sanpro, hubby, holibobs, outing, posters with juicy gossip etc who end up saying fuck all because it's 'outing', picky bits, little ones, safeguarding...many more I'm sure!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 27/05/2019 17:30

'Calling out', reminds me of one Regency buck slapping another one across the face with a gauntlet, calling him out for a duel.

The similar phrase "pull them up on it" too.
It's just so completely superior-sounding. The poster saying thinks they know so much better than the other person and is correcting them in the most patronising way.
