And if so, how will you vote?
I want to vote tactically against the Brexit Party so I am thinking LibDems. But knowing mn and it’s very politically engaged (not to mention intelligent) posters, I thought I would put this out there Wink

I am voting for my independent candidate. I have accepted the brexit vote but am appalled by the contempt shown by Westminster towards the millions who voted whichever way in 2016.

Tavannach · 20/05/2019 14:56

Voted LibDems. But feel frustrated that the remain votes will be shared between parties like Change etc

It's not first past the post, it's PR, so an extent it doesn't matter who "wins" as other views will be represented. The important thing is to vote for Remain supporting parties, and to ensure that the votes are used wisely so that Farage gets as bloody s nose as possible.

Anniegetyourgun · 20/05/2019 14:57

To remind everyone again, this is an election for membership of the European Parliament, not for the next government. Who you'd prefer to run this country, or for that matter the local council, is not the issue on Thursday.

Branleuse · 20/05/2019 15:13

green party

pigsDOfly · 20/05/2019 15:16

Absolutely Annie. During the recent local elections I think a lot of people voted for the party they want in Government, which is not always best when it comes to local issues.

I voted Conservative at the local elections because they've been running the local area for years and, imo, doing a good job.

I'm voting Green in the European elections, which I did at the last European elections because I'm happy with their policies in that area and of course they're remainers, as am I.

And I'd vote LIB DEM in a general election.

I've never understood the blind loyalty that many voters have towards political parties. But maybe that's just me.

Tavannach · 20/05/2019 15:18

I genuinely am lost about what's the point of voting in this election (aside from out of principle that we should vote) - aren't we leaving the EU at some point and at that point all these euro MPs will be out on their ears - probably by Christmas latest? What's the point???

Because if a clear majority of people are seen to be supporting Remain parties, taking votes from Tory and Labour, there is a chance that a confirmatory or even second referendum will be held.

Treaclepie19 · 20/05/2019 15:19

West Midlands and will be voting green.

iolaus · 20/05/2019 15:19

Plaid for me

QuizzlyBear · 20/05/2019 15:25

LibDem! We're in an area where it could actually make a difference and I'm horrified at the damage a Brexit Party MEP could do to our international reputation...

thefairyfellersmasterstroke · 20/05/2019 15:26

If he very wary voting SNP unless you want Scottish independence. It might only be the European elections but a strong swing to the SNP will be interpreted as pro-Indy rather than anti-brexit

Nonsense. There are thousands of SNP voters who support them for their polices but don't want independence. And not every SNP supporter is pro-EU. This vote is about the EU, nothing more, and the SNP are best placed for that in Scotland.

iolaus · 20/05/2019 15:29

Those two sites recommend different options - so surely that would further split the vote?

longwayoff · 20/05/2019 15:33

I usually vote Green in EURO elections but lib dems this time as an anti brexit vote.

mrsjg · 20/05/2019 15:43

I'm a remainer and will vote Lib Dem. Have been a labour voter all my life but am losing faith in them.

MrPan · 20/05/2019 15:45

I do hope someone from the Labour Party is reading this thread.

ControversialFerret · 20/05/2019 15:50

Held my nose and voted Lib Dem despite the fact that their stance on women's rights leaves a lot to be desired.

I won't vote Labour because JC has made it abundantly clear that he wants to leave, despite many in the party wanting to remain.

The Greens can sod off - I am not a "non-man".

namechange34 · 20/05/2019 15:52

Lib dems- postal vote already sent

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/05/2019 15:57

@MrPan I thought the same. I would vote for Labour in a GE, but have lost faith in Corbyn. I am a disgusted ex-Tory voter...and I know many like me. They would do well to listen!

AdoraBell · 20/05/2019 16:00

I’ll check that link as I cannot see anyone worth voting for.

jackparlabane · 20/05/2019 16:07

I'm in London and had the Labour canvasser round. Once he realised I knew the forthcoming election wasn't a local one, and I told him I wanted Remain, his line was "Yes, Labour's policy on Brexit sucks, and JC sucks, but these Labour MEP candidates are really good and really hard-working!"

I don't dispute that, and kudos to the guy for his honesty, but I'm going to have to vote LD or Green, whichever might get an extra seat.

DoraleeRhodes · 20/05/2019 16:10

Lib Dem or Greens, Remain United & Remain Voter have different opinions for my area so I need to give it some further thought.

shoofly · 20/05/2019 16:19

I'm in Northern Ireland. I'll be voting Naomi Long Alliance Party no. 1 ,then transferring to other pro remain parties

BigRedLondonBus · 20/05/2019 16:19

Voting labour

Mia1415 · 20/05/2019 16:23

I'm voting change UK.

Fink · 20/05/2019 16:25

Does anyone know anything about any of the independent candidates in London? I'd be prepared to vote for one of them if they were decent.

Ilove31415926535 · 20/05/2019 16:26

I live in a staunch LibDem stronghold area, and (for the 1st time) will be voting LD on the advice of the remain website. I don't want to, but if it helps keep the bigots out then I'll do it.
