To think throwing milkshakes over people is disgusting?

So apparently it’s okay to chuck milkshakes over people we disagree with?

Now, I do not like Tommy Robinson, Carl Sargon, or Farage. However, I think that chucking cold food at them, or threatening to, is pathetic. If you disagree with them, then debate them. Take down their argument intelligently. Chucking a cheap milkshake makes you look like a toddler.

Too. Apologies.

Ilfie · 21/05/2019 22:55

Fascinating- NOT!

jasjas1973 · 21/05/2019 22:58

Rape jokes are not ok, but they aren't as bad as a physical assault. We're not even talking about rape threats, which are worse than rape jokes. The comment made to Jess Phillips wasn't a rape threat. It was some impotent wanker saying he wouldn't rape her because she wasn't attractive enough

Really? he actually went onto to say he would rape her.
Rape is extremely common, the so called jokes made toward Jess Phillips frightened her and could well incite someone to attack her, he has been verballing assaulting JP for 4 years.

Throwing a milkshake at someone who recently said he would take up a rifle if brexit wasn't delivered (ie wants to kill people) is justifiable.

Jo Cox would no doubt still be alive if this man had died in that plane crash.

KWPN · 21/05/2019 23:15

I don’t support throwing milk as it is the product of a cow’s rape and the abduction and murder of her calf.
To tolerate silently ‘Mr. Robinson’ or Mr. Farage is to endorse them.

donotcovertheradiator · 22/05/2019 00:39

someone up thread said it was a pity it wasn't an anvil.
An anvil thrown at his head would have killed him. Would that have been ok?
@Lifecraft. You make your points eloquently and clearly. Sadly, the audience is a bit too bug eyed and excitable to appreciate them-wetting themselves with glee at the thought of an assault, with many happy to accept it should have been something worse; something to cause physical damage to the man. No doubt, they would be cheering if he had been blinded with acid.

They refuse to see your point-maybe they are too dim witted to see it but somehow I think their cheerleaders do understand it but want to whip up the fan girls.

M3lon · 22/05/2019 02:09

really? You have no doubt that people on here would cheer if Farage was blinded with acid?

You must be incredible credulous then.

I can't imagine anyone wanting that.

M3lon · 22/05/2019 02:11

I would far more easily shrug off a milkshake than a rape threat. I can only speak for myself and have received neither - but it seems pretty clear cut to me.

Neither are okay and neither should happen. Nor is anyone sub-human.

Dana28 · 22/05/2019 02:15

Has farage made rape jokes?

woman19 · 22/05/2019 08:32

No idea Dana but look what his supporters do to a peaceful pro EU campaigner yesterday. Angry

throw drinks, shout abuse and poke him with flagpoles.

Man of the Paypal's fans have been doing this for 3 years.

The discipline and courage it takes to react peacefully is beyond the ken of most people.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/05/2019 08:37

You've made that bit up to push your agenda, but that's what fascists do

This happens on virtually every single thread on mumsnet

People extrapolate or exaggerate

This place is obviously swarming with facists...and I’ll put money on loads of the posts on here from both milkshake throwing ‘supporters’ and ‘non supporters ‘ have done exactly the same

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/05/2019 09:02

Oh and i would just like to thank donotcover for proving my point beautifully

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/05/2019 09:02

Just caught up with the thread Grin

Lifecraft · 22/05/2019 10:23

When I was growing up, I recall the phrase "I don't like what you have to say, but I will always defend your right to say it".

That seems to have changed to "I don't like what you have to say, and I will defend people who physically assault you for saying it".

Sad times we live in. Those who supposedly are anti fascist have themselves become fascists, and don't even realise it.

woman19 · 22/05/2019 10:32

anti fascist have themselves become fascists, and don't even realise it
No idea what this means.
But a Brexit lady manages to convince a Brexit MP that we'd be better off remaining in EU. Grin

To think throwing milkshakes over people is disgusting?
Gilead · 22/05/2019 11:03

When I was growing up, I recall the phrase "I don't like what you have to say, but I will always defend your right to say it".
I will not defend the right for people to spout hate speech. Ever.
This is not facism, it's equity, ergo this:
Those who supposedly are anti fascist have themselves become fascists, and don't even realise it. is absolute tosh.

exaltedwombat · 22/05/2019 11:06

Apparently it wasn't a cheap milkshake. It was a very expensive one from 5 Guys.

Helmetbymidnight · 22/05/2019 11:09

That clip is so funny, Woman19. That quote 'People like you make me want to join the EU again.' Hilarious.
The way she thinks he's a remoaner because he's acting like a remoaner/snowflake. She's got a right old bee in her bonnet.

Lifecraft · 22/05/2019 11:18

I will not defend the right for people to spout hate speech. Ever.

If Farage/Robinson et all were spouting hate speech, they would be arrested and charged. But they are not. They are cunning enough to make sure they stay on the right side of the line.
You don't get to decide what constitutes hate speech, we have laws for that.

Those who supposedly are anti fascist have themselves become fascists, and don't even realise it.....is absolute tosh.

If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, acts like a duck...it's a duck.
Physically assaulting people who are exercising their right to free speak ) not hate speech, but legal free speech), because you don't like what they have to say......fascist.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 22/05/2019 11:53

You either respect the notion of free speech or you don't. You can't be selective and say that only people with nice opinions get to exercise the right to it.
Go down that route and you set a very dangerous precedent. At the moment women who recognise biology and science are swimming against the tide of public opinion, largely due to a small number of very vocal TRAs - they would think it just fine to throw things at us. Or women in NI and the USA campaigning for the right to abortion. There are people who vehemently disagree with them - are you okay with those people getting milkshake thrown at them?
You either take a view that this form of protest is acceptable or it isn't.

longwayoff · 22/05/2019 12:16

It looks like a twunt, sounds like a twunt, acts like a twunt . . . It's a twunt! Thanks for the guidance.

PreseaCombatir · 22/05/2019 13:17

my annoyance with him is that he ruined the chance of prosecution on some cases because he was in contempt of court and publicised their images
I thought this went to a higher court, and that judge ruled he wasn’t in contempt of court? Was that not why he was released form prison?

jasjas1973 · 22/05/2019 13:35

You don't get to decide what constitutes hate speech, we have laws for that

Perhaps, but some very major constitutional changes, throughout the world, wouldn't have happened if people had always protested within the law.

I do not understand how a man can make rape "jokes" to Jess Phillips, inc saying he would rape her if he had a enough to drink but escapes prosecution but throw some milk over a suit and end up with a criminal record..

longwayoff · 22/05/2019 13:44

Well, Nigel is a Very Important Man Person in a Very Expensive Suit saying Very Important Things. Jess is a woman.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 22/05/2019 14:53

I don't think you can prosecute people for saying things. Even really ugly things. The rape 'joke' was disgusting but unless he was genuinely threatening to attack her, I don't think you can prosecute him for being a scumbag of a person - that's not actually illegal, nor should it be. Actions can only really be curtailed when they threaten other people's ability to go about their lives unharmed.
That's not to say that a person who makes rape jokes should remain in public office. But he's shown the world who he is and most people wouldn't touch him with a barge pole now.

Throwing food does hinder a person's ability to go about their business freely. Which is why you should be prevented from doing it.

Gilead · 22/05/2019 15:00

Some of them have spouted hate speech and have been/are being investigated for it.
