To think that Deliciously Ella is unbearably smug?

Just that really. I used to be a fan. However recent pregnancy updates are incredibly smug and found her podcast awful - constantly interrupting guests. Am I being mean? Not sure why it annoys me so much!

I’m afraid I can’t stand her; I guess that’s the payoff of being insta-famous - for every person that loves you, there’ll be one that hates you. I’m sure she wouldn’t like me 😂

I had to unfollow when she became pregnant, it took her smugness to the next level. I’m the same level of pregnant and think it’s as magical as the next person but it was just too much.

SignOnTheWindow · 19/05/2019 21:04

I bet many of us come across as horribly smug when pregnant with PFB. Sure I did - I was just so excited.

Needallthesleep · 19/05/2019 21:05

She’s definitely not as smug as RVK Loves is at the moment with her pregnancy.

And don’t get me started on Joe Wicks’ parenting advice

Bigmango · 19/05/2019 21:06

I feel a bit mean now...always good to remember there is a human behind the brand. I guess I find her triggering, particularly the pseudo science and the “clean” food. If she has helped people, good on her. But I find the whole movement that she represents: wellness/kale/eatpraylove etc pretty guilt inducing at its most harmless and potentially dangerous to vulnerable people at its most harmful. That being said, her recipes are good and I too did a shit ton of hypno birthing prep before labour. Needless to say, the battery operated candles and lavender oil never left my bag and the only time I used visualisation was when the epidural was going in.

If you’re reading Ella, good luck and ignore us bitter old witches. You do you.

Helspopje · 19/05/2019 21:08

I think that the insta slebs do have a huge responsibility to say non-shite when it comes to all things medical

Kayla Istes just posted a total f*ckwit of a post about doing an ab workout after her 6 week check. I truly hope that it was posted by a numpty she employs to do her social media or she is the most underinformed PT out!

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 19/05/2019 21:08

Passthecherrycoke
Ok not jealous then. Just very irritated by someone's name and "smugness"
I remember getting bullied at school for those reasons. Just saying...

Passthecherrycoke · 19/05/2019 21:09

Well they weren’t jealous of you either cozytoesandtoast. That’s just what your parents told you to make you feel better.

When you were a little kid Confused hence the childish point

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 19/05/2019 21:10

StargazyDrifter
Out of interest what has she said that is harmful?

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 19/05/2019 21:14

Passthecherrycoke
I don't think you got my point! 🤔
And a whole thread bullying a pregnant woman isn't childish at all?

JaneEyre07 · 19/05/2019 21:16

I have real issues with someone who invents a diet that works for them but then tries to make money out of it. I respect that she's got herself back to health but it's dangerous when you're not a nutritionist to preach what to eat to others. And frankly most of the recipes are absolutely vile. I'm diabetic (T2) and she uses a heck of a lot of sugar.... whether it comes from dates, honey, coconut or whatever, it's still fucking sugar. Makes me very cross to be honest.

As for the pregnancy, meh, I just smile when first time mums are preaching about how to do pregnancy. You almost kind of feel sorry for their absolute ignorance Grin

bibbitybobbityyhat · 19/05/2019 21:17

The only people I have ever heard of following her is a group of 13/14 year old girls with various eating disorders. I guess she has adult followers but I can't imagine who they might be.

SolitudeAtAltitude · 19/05/2019 21:17

it is normal to feel amazing and special and even smug when you are pregnant.

I definitely was Blush, I felt the best I ever felt, and after giving birth I felt like I could climb Everest, that I was amazing

....then I crashed into PND

but it was great whilst it lasted Wink

It's a bit like on here, when parents of small kids give advice about teenager problems, you inevitable think :Just you wait! haha. We are all a combination of smug and insecure I guess

crispysausagerolls · 19/05/2019 21:21

She is completely fine!

Her attitude to birth will change completely when she is in actual labour, as it does for 99% of the naive, first time mothers who prattle on about hypnobirthing - myself included!

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 19/05/2019 21:22

JaneEyre07
Jamie Oliver, Delia Smith etc are not nutritionists. She doesn't claim to be one.
If you're diabetic it's really up to you to identify which recipes you cannot eat.

Floatyboat · 19/05/2019 21:26

But cozy, she makes bollox health claims and advocates restriction of various totally normal foods. Delia or Jamie dont.

TurquoiseDress · 19/05/2019 21:28

YANBU

She does ooze smugness

I'd like to like her, but she just irritates me massively!

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 19/05/2019 21:28

Obligatory "Who?"

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 19/05/2019 21:30

Floatyboat
Ok fair point.
Most of her book is about cooking vegtables and pulses which we all need to more of. Thay can only be good.

Itsnotmesothere · 19/05/2019 21:32

@AnnaMagnani. I'll let a Model Recommends off. She struggled to conceive for very long time and suffered a missed miscarriage.

AlexaAmbidextra · 19/05/2019 21:32

Ok maybe you're not jealous, Just mean!

Is that you Ella? 🙄

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 19/05/2019 21:35

AlexaAmbidextra
😂 no just a bit bored. Maybe I need to go to bed!

Skyejuly · 19/05/2019 21:41

Not listened to podcasts but the books are brilliant!

NicoAndTheNiners · 19/05/2019 21:43

Who is her dad?

Outofinspiration · 19/05/2019 21:44

I do quite like her. And I respected her when she recently launched a nut containing product on an airline and then quite quickly withdrew it when people raised the allergy issue (I know she didn't want the bad publicity, but it did seem like she considered people's issues and as she said, nuts are not routinely banned from planes, it's only if someone has a severe allergy and requests it).

However...

One thing that does piss me off is that never seems to acknowledge her privilege and how that would have helped her get where she is. She basically has access to unlimited cash, her family is absolutely minted (her mum is heir to Sainsburys) and she just doesn't have the financial worries that most people running their own business would have, but she never mentions this. Plus, she constantly seems to be going on holiday to very exotic looking destinations for 'much needed rejuvenation time'.

Oh and she is also totally disingenous about eating her own recipes. There is no fucking way she spends her days cramming dates smothered in almond butter into her mouth, or stuffing her face with hummus, as she claims!

Outofinspiration · 19/05/2019 21:46

Her dad is the politician Shaun Woodward. The only Labour MP to have had a butler apparently Smile
