I want to put together a playlist for my DD as she has a horrendously difficult time ahead of her (you can search my username to see why) I am hoping it will help her in some way...calm her. Take her mind off things.

mahler 9th sinfonie adagio for strings

forkfun · 31/03/2020 19:28

Mozart's Clarinet Concerto In A Major, K. 622: Adagio has always been my favourite.

MitziK · 31/03/2020 19:28

Let's face it, @BadMoon - it could be worse.

I'm so pleased several PPs have mentioned Spiegal Im Spiegal by Argo Part. I first heard it on the radio a few days after my DH died and listening to it made me truly believe that energy and spirit are eternal. Even though I am not religious at all something in that piece of music lifted me and comforted me in a way I can't really explain.

A link for Albinoni Adagio

FredaFrogspawn · 31/03/2020 19:34

This is a beautiful classical guitar version of a Bach adagio. Very relaxing and moving.

KateF · 31/03/2020 19:35

Elgar's cello concerto and Fingal's Cave from Mendelssohn's Hebrides overture are my favourites. Bruch's violin concerto in G minor also has a special place in my heart as my dad introduced me to it when I was quite young. He said the first time he heard it he cried.

Thekindofwindowsfaceslookinat · 31/03/2020 19:36

It's an operatic vocal, but The Pearls Fishers duet, Au Fond du Temple Saint is just so, so moving.

LadySlipper11 · 31/03/2020 19:38

Ludivico Einaudi - i love le onde and i giorni

DrCoconut · 31/03/2020 19:38

I really like Mozart's requiem. Yes it's a requiem but it's very powerful and good to listen to.

Thekindofwindowsfaceslookinat · 31/03/2020 19:38

Also Saint Saens, Le Cygne. So simple, but utterly beautiful (especially if you love the cello).

weegiemum · 31/03/2020 19:39

Mozart's Clarinet Concerto

Another vote for Barber’s Adagio for Strings

HopelessLayout · 31/03/2020 19:52

Nuovo Cinema Paradiso by Ennio Morricone. (It helps that it is from the soundtrack of the best movie of all time!)

munchbunch12 · 31/03/2020 19:55

Chi Mai from the life and times of David Lloyd George, by Ennio Morricone. It's just beautiful.

SugarButterFlour · 31/03/2020 19:59

Chopin's Nocturne in C# minor.
Also the Atonement soundtrack.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 31/03/2020 19:59

Una furtiva lacrima is a beautiful love song especially when sung by Pavarotti

Largo al Factotum is great fun

The duet from the Pearl Fishers is beautiful

Wattagoose90 · 31/03/2020 20:01

Another vote for Gabriel's oboe.

Realise this is an older thread but want to come back to it later!!

The Five Varients of Dives and Lazarus

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 31/03/2020 20:09

Tchaikovsky's violin concerto in d major is my favourite :)

Thekindofwindowsfaceslookinat · 31/03/2020 20:16

Argh! I didn't clock it was a zombie thread. Still, there are worse ones to bring back right now.

Merlotmum85 · 31/03/2020 20:16

Ave verum corpus - Mozart.
