Really upset sons haircut too short!

Onlymeyousee · 19/05/2019 10:18

I am seriously mourning my sons haircut.

I asked for a few weeks off the length and they’ve cut off about 3 months worth. It’s so much shorter and I’ve been crying my eyes out. Sad

I know that may not sound like a lot but it is. He looks like a different boy.

I’ve been awake all night and feel sick about it.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/05/2019 17:18

Ach, ignore all of the grouchy people. If only emotions were all logical and be controlled as they think they should.

He's still your little boy and still will be when he's all grown up eventually. It's bitter sweet though. I get it.

calpoppincalpol · 20/05/2019 01:08

Meanwhile in America kids are killed at school
All over the world Christians ,Jews and Muslims are killed at places of worship
Ukraine is still trying to rid the country of land mines
Syrians still cannot return home

And so forth....... honestly op please get a grip. Hair grows back. I was melancholy when ds had his first haircut because he looked so different. I wasn't devastated. He was happy because ' I look like a boy' plus he needed it. Before the cut he looked like kurt cobain on a bad hair day.

Thequaffle · 20/05/2019 01:11

This has to be a wind up.

LTM79 · 15/04/2022 15:14

The poster is clearly feeling upset and to be honest I think most of the replies here are extremely rude and inconsiderate. I completely understand how she is feeling, there's many different factors at play here I would think. She will be feeling sad seeing her little boy looking so grown up already etc.
Maybe a lot of you should think about how to word your replies a bit more sensitively and caring rather than make someone who is already feeling low feel even worse when all she was looking for was a little reassurance.

itsneilthebaby · 15/04/2022 15:54

I imagine the OP is probably over it now seeing as this thread is 3 years old Hmm

I think that 3 years later she has probably got over it and the boys hair had grown

Why did you search and resurrect 1 3 year old post with a limited response at the time about a haircut

Chikapu · 15/04/2022 15:56

Do people really measure hair that way? Why not use inches/centimetres to be more precise!

Adeleskirts · 15/04/2022 16:02

Op I think it’s better to say how much uou want off in actual length Ie inches and centimetres, this is I think the most common way to do it. I’ve never heard of someone asking as you do for weeks etc.

Thank you for the three-year-old hand slap, you must be feeling so superior right now.
LakieLady · 15/04/2022 16:07

Good grief, it's not like they accidentally cut off an ear!

It'll grow, and in a couple of weeks it'll look quite different.

CounsellorTroi · 15/04/2022 16:08

Why are some parents so emotionally invested in their children’s hair? I had mime cut short and grew it long again several times during my childhood.

Since this thread is from 2019 it's probably waist-length by now! Grin
Sunnytwobridges · 15/04/2022 16:13

@Iggly

Mmmm that’s quite an extreme reaction

It’ll grow back!

This. To be upset overnight about it is a bit extreme.
ilovesooty · 15/04/2022 16:18

@DrinkSangriaInThePark

Ignore people being vile on here

I don't think they're being vile.

I'd imagine there thinking of all the seriously sick and dying children that exist, and wondering how a nother could feel sick and stay awake all night crying over a short haircut.

I'd normally say it's hair and it grows back but I think people are being pretty horrible actually.

There's no need to play top trumps with hair loss, cancer and alopecia either.

ilovesooty · 15/04/2022 16:19

Oh missed that it was a zombie thread Blush

Pumperthepumper · 15/04/2022 16:21

I know this is a zombie but I love the idea of measuring hair in time 🤣🤣🤣

Thewheelsfalloffthebus · 15/04/2022 16:23

It’ll grow back. Pick a different hairdresser next time. Take a photo when it’s at the length you like and bring that in to show what you want.

lemongreentea · 15/04/2022 16:25

Did it grow back OP?

Threeboysandadog · 15/04/2022 16:33

I know how you feel op. My son had such long wavy hair and suddenly decided to get a really short cut. At first glance, with his mask on I thought it was my nephew! He looked so different. I’m used to it now. By tomorrow you won’t even notice it.

shazzer1978 · 15/04/2022 16:33

When my first born precious darling boy had his first haircut he went from adorable 1 year old to virtual skinhead. I don’t even know how I let it happen but by the time I realised it was too late. I was pretty upset but now we laugh at his skinhead days. My other son asked me to shave his head in lockdown. He looked hideous but it grew back.

Fulmine · 15/04/2022 17:07

OP's child is 9 by now and she's probably recovered.

LTM79 · 15/04/2022 17:29

'IDONTHAVEANOUTINGHOBBY

Well perhaps because I was searching something similar about my sons haircut and this thread came up? That's how these things work you know...
Commented because I was disgusted at peoples bitchy comments, regardless of whether they were 3 years ago or not. It's a shame you've taken time out of your day to get so upset about a notification 🙂

LTM79 · 15/04/2022 17:34

'CHIKAPU

Yes, I certainly do feel superior to someone who has nothing nice to say when someone else is upset 🙂

WhiteFire · 15/04/2022 17:36

Reminds me of the time I very confidently told the barber the type of cut I wanted for a small ds. Are you sure? Yes that's definitely right I replied.

I made my child into a skinhead. Grin

WeDontShutUpAboutBruno · 15/04/2022 17:38

I know it's a zombie thread but next time I get a haircut I'm definitely using time rather than length.

"Can I get it taken back to December please" 🤣
