Really upset sons haircut too short!

I am seriously mourning my sons haircut.

I asked for a few weeks off the length and they’ve cut off about 3 months worth. It’s so much shorter and I’ve been crying my eyes out. Sad

I know that may not sound like a lot but it is. He looks like a different boy.

I’ve been awake all night and feel sick about it.

The main thing is if your son is bothered by it? It’s his hair,

oh dear lord! Grin Grin Grin

LoafofSellotape · 19/05/2019 10:48

Can you post a pic so we can reassure you?

rwalker · 19/05/2019 10:50

You need to be careful or you'll end up upsetting him over this and he will hate his haircut.

sockatoe · 19/05/2019 10:58

I do hope that your son is not aware of your irrational and extreme reaction. He doesn't need to deal with your anxieties at 6 years old, I imagine he has more important things like Lego and riding his bike to get on with. I imagine you do too.
You sound like perhaps you could do with some help to deal with anxiety though. Worth a thought if an everyday normal occurrence causes you such upset.

I know this sort of thing is upsetting op. When my dd2 was little I asked a new hairdresser to cut her hair over her ears ie a bob at jaw length covering her ears. She asked me if I was sure which I thought was funny. She then proceeded to cut it above dd's ears like a pixie cut. I just did not pick up the warning, did I? It looked awful because she was a little bit chubby at the time. I have never forgotten it - nor has she!

Honestly I bet it will grow (excuse pun) on you as he will look more like a little boy now.

purplelila2 · 19/05/2019 11:03

Gods sake 😂😂😂😂
precious much 🤦‍♀️

Is this a serious post

PollyShelby · 19/05/2019 11:05

Meh it'll grow

ScreamingValenta · 19/05/2019 11:05

Get him out and about in the sunshine as that will help his hair grow back more quickly, and will take your mind off it too.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/05/2019 11:09

How does he feel? That is the most important.

When my dd was that age she had a fringe cut in at her request. She hated it and she’s all about the hair. I mean hair is a real trigger for her. I really regretted that one because she was so upset and angry at me for letting her do it. Her upset at her hairstyle went on for months and months months.

Anyway it grew out eventually. Took fucking years. She’s 10, it’s ancient history. Odds on in a couple of years your ds will either have long hair or a peaky blinders short back and sides. This sort of thing.

If your angst doesn’t abate, I think you may need to go to your gp.

@ElsieMc I would have thought the same as your hair dresser if you had asked that.

DontCallMeShitley · 19/05/2019 11:10

It's hair. Hair grows. He hasn't had an arm chopped off.

flumpybear · 19/05/2019 11:11

DH took DS to get a haircut (also 6 then) and it was awful, it's been a couple of months and it's growing back now, just show them a picture next time

Onlymeyousee · 19/05/2019 11:14

**OhYouBadBadKitten

I bet it's making him look more grown up and you feel like you lost a lot of babyhood with that cut?**

It’s this! I’m certain this is what it is!

Thankyou for all your replies. Yes, I am serious but I am feeling better already, so Thankyou. Yes, he does like his hair.

You asked for a number of weeks to be cut! Seriously weird, ask for cms! Biscuit
And ate you crying in front of him.... I hope not.
Yabu... Totally

Dotty1970 · 19/05/2019 11:14

*are

MashedSpud · 19/05/2019 11:15

Have you nothing better to seek attention with?

AguerosAngel · 19/05/2019 11:17
Biscuit
MarshaBradyo · 19/05/2019 11:20

Really? Why would you cry

MockneyReject · 19/05/2019 11:22

I get it, OP.
Someone once cut my son's hair really, really short. It wasn't what I asked for and it looked awful. He just didn't look like him.
Its easy to dismiss as being 'over invested in his appearance', but it really, really bothered me. He looked scruffy and malnourished - his face had caught the sun, but his head and hairline were white. His head looked bony, like a workhouse inmate who'd been shorn to get rid of lice.
I'd not long split from his dad and was on the receiving end of criticism for every little thing and I knew it would be one more excuse to question my care of him.
I don't think I over reacted, and OP probably isn't, either.

ShiveringCoyote · 19/05/2019 11:22

I have alopecia, so my hair grows in patches, sometimes. And then falls out when it feels like it. My longest hair at the moment is about 4cm.
There's some perspective for you.

Aprillygirl · 19/05/2019 11:32

He's had a dodgy haircut not been diagnosed with a cancerous tumour. Get a fucking grip OP!

Beersheva · 19/05/2019 11:36

He likes it. That's all that matters.

And you've learnt now to ask in centimetres, not periods of time!

Orangeballon · 19/05/2019 11:39

Hair grows, you need some real problems!

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 19/05/2019 11:42

Maybe your should have specified an actual length rather than this "few weeks" bollocks?
