Really upset sons haircut too short!

I am seriously mourning my sons haircut.

I asked for a few weeks off the length and they’ve cut off about 3 months worth. It’s so much shorter and I’ve been crying my eyes out. Sad

I know that may not sound like a lot but it is. He looks like a different boy.

I’ve been awake all night and feel sick about it.

Use this as one of those moments you look back on like "remember when ds had that awful haircut..." and laugh!
Boys hair grows so quickly! I cut my poor ds's fringe once and it wasn't good.. it took a few weeks to grow out but it's one of those moments I look back on and smile... and know to take him to the barber's!

Icandothisallday · 19/05/2019 13:31

3 months of hair growth is hardly anything. How much is 3 weeks worth?

Grin @ haircut resembling Richard the third, that really made me chuckle

LoafofSellotape · 19/05/2019 13:37

3 months of growth is loads for me,depends how fast your hair grows, surely?

JosephineHass · 19/05/2019 13:41

It's just hair- it will grow back quickly-they didn't cut away his hand.🤷🏻‍♀️

Icandothisallday · 19/05/2019 13:48

Yes but no ones hair grows several inch a month.

My grows about an inch every 6 weeks. Which is, apparently quite a lot. So it would still only be 2 inch of hair.

DuchessAnnogovia · 19/05/2019 13:48

Oh good grief, of all the things to make you stay up all night and feel sick over! Are you seriously for real OP. What is this asking for your children's hair to be cut in weeks worth? Had to query this one with my DS who is a barber. He laughed and asked if I'd taken my meds today.

LoafofSellotape · 19/05/2019 13:50

So it would still only be 2 inch of hair that's a significant amount to cut off though

MrsFoxPlus4 · 19/05/2019 13:53

People usually ask for inches or cms off they don’t usually say take a few weeks hair off. Maybe that’s the hairdressers perception of what a few weeks hair growth looks like. Use inches in future

1tisILeClerc · 19/05/2019 14:08

Some parents worry that when their children go out to play they will accidentally set off a landmine so they will have to go out and find the bits.
You need a sense of reality.

BlackPrism · 19/05/2019 14:20

It'll grow. It's hair

BlackPrism · 19/05/2019 14:21

And who asks length by time frame? You ask in inches or cm surely? For accuracy?

Icandothisallday · 19/05/2019 14:23

that's a significant amount to cut off though

Enough to keep someone up all night. Someone sick with worry.

Wether it's because it makes him look older or not, staying up all night over w inch of hair is ridiculous. As is staying up all night because your 6 year old looks more groen up. That's what kids are meant to do grow up.

I also doubt this boy has very short hair, from the ops wording. 2 inch (probably less) isn't a big deal.

cricketmum84 · 19/05/2019 14:26

Oh dear. I think you need to get a grip of yourself.
Is this part of a bigger worry about him growing up and not needing you as much. Because if this amount of worry and staying up all night is just over a haircut then you are gonna be screwed when he hits teenage years.

F I wish a haircut was the biggest problem I had with my boy!!

NaomifromMilkshake · 19/05/2019 14:42

My DH has only ever taken my DS for one haircut.

He was about 5 at the time, DS (not DH Grin)

I lost the plot, not so much at the hair which was horrible, but the defensive arrogant way DH tried to shrug it off.

I waited until DS was in bed and left DH in no doubt what so ever how I felt about the haircut.

Fast forward to the next day, a friend drops around and says somewhat tongue in cheek, nice haircut.

DS who had clearly been listening in the night before....piped up Mummy doesn't like it.

And before I could say a word he followed it up with she says it is far too fucking short and that Daddy should be ashamed of himself.

Grin Grin

He is eighteen soon, he still talks about that haircut.

zingally · 19/05/2019 14:45

Man, I wish I had your problems.

Eistigi · 19/05/2019 14:56

OP - I really do need an explanation of how, or why, you order a haircut in weeks and months??!!!

imonlyatoyspider · 19/05/2019 15:48

HAIR GROWS!!!!!!!!!!
It won't always be short op

Ihatehashtags · 19/05/2019 15:52

Get a grip it’s just hair!

RedPanda2 · 19/05/2019 16:13

@Greenteaandchives well if that's not perspective i don't know what is. Hope he's doing well

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 19/05/2019 16:23

That's exactly what I meant - there are kids suffering from cancer. Don't you think you're behaving badly to ignore your good fortune so massively that you can get sick over a haircut?

ChampionThreadKiller · 19/05/2019 16:49

@NaomiFromMilkshake that has made me and my DH laugh so much, thank you!

Waveysnail · 19/05/2019 16:54

We number 2 our boys after each nit outbreak at school. Not my ideal look for them but they dont care
