Really upset sons haircut too short!

I am seriously mourning my sons haircut.

I asked for a few weeks off the length and they’ve cut off about 3 months worth. It’s so much shorter and I’ve been crying my eyes out. Sad

I know that may not sound like a lot but it is. He looks like a different boy.

I’ve been awake all night and feel sick about it.

Okay well you’ve clearly not had this reaction from s haircut, that’s completely disproportionate, so what’s going on op? He’s still your son, and hair grows.

Blueeyesdarkhair · 19/05/2019 10:27

Boys where I live are all having very short back & sides with longer tops (fades), if it’s like that the barber has probably given him what all the other boys are having.
As my gran used to say, if it’s too short you’re only 2 weeks away from a good hair do Wink

ChodeofChodeHall · 19/05/2019 10:27

What's really up, OP? Are you OK? Flowers

PoorRichard · 19/05/2019 10:28

Next time, specify how much you want cut off in inches, not in weeks.

SmellbowSmellbow123 · 19/05/2019 10:28

I took my 13y/o to the barbers 3wks ago and asked for a zero on the back and sides but she pretty much did a zero all over with only slightly longer on top. He was absolutely mortified! He was so close to crying, BUT, it’s grown back so quick, which your sons also will.

I’ve been awake all night and feel sick about it.

Over a haircut? That's not even on your head?

LoafofSellotape · 19/05/2019 10:28

Second thread recently about boys hair cutsConfused

MissMary0fSweden · 19/05/2019 10:29

That’s a shame, that’s thing with hair isn’t it- once it’s gone it’s gone, you never get it back.

Hmm
chipsandgin · 19/05/2019 10:31

That’s not a normal reaction OP, are you ok?

jameswong · 19/05/2019 10:31

Can't wait for the drip feed. Genuinely giddy with excitement. I'll predict: that your husband called you a bitch because you burnt the toast and that the barber, mates with your husband, shaved the shape of a piece of bread into the fade.

Onlymeyousee · 19/05/2019 10:33

I know it’s irrational. I know it’s only hair.

I don’t understand why I’m feeling like this over it.

Are you possibly a bit depressed? Worth thinking about if only to discount..

LondonJax · 19/05/2019 10:35

I hope you keep your 'angst' to yourself OP. The best way of making your DS self conscious if it is too short is by you having a touch of the vapours.

And next time say 'an inch off' or show them with your fingers how much you want off.

Goodness knows how you'll cope in a few years when he really does start to grow into his adult looks, and changes quite dramatically in some cases, if you're like this over a haircut!

wichitalinemanswoman · 19/05/2019 10:36

Get a grip OP

Sargass0 · 19/05/2019 10:36

As long as he's not called Samson, I'm sure he'll be ok.

ZandathePanda · 19/05/2019 10:37

Think of it in a positive light OP. If there’s really nothing else upsetting you then your life must be pretty good if this is the worst thing Flowers
I mean this sincerely. I used to get wound up by little things but the same things would just register as an annoyance after the very serious problems I have had in the last few years.

Barbie222 · 19/05/2019 10:39

I’ve been awake all night and feel sick about it.

Acis · 19/05/2019 10:39

Crying your eyes out, staying awake all night and feeling sick because of the loss of an extra, what, 4-6 weeks' growth?

Is there something else going on in your life that causes this reaction?

Barbie222 · 19/05/2019 10:39

That's a bit of an overreaction. Best to model a good way of responding to these kind of minor upsets next time?

LordNibbler · 19/05/2019 10:40

You're very lucky you don't have anything else to worry about. I dread to think how you're going to overreact with the shit that'll happen as he grows up. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/05/2019 10:40

I bet it's making him look more grown up and you feel like you lost a lot of babyhood with that cut?

IvanaPee · 19/05/2019 10:40

If only he had the brand of hair that grows back. Sad

Tucobenedicto · 19/05/2019 10:43

Pathetic

Nannewnannew · 19/05/2019 10:43

Think of the people who are going through chemotherapy and lose their hair for months and even years. THAT’S something to get upset about.
