My family think I must have shares in Sudocrem because i recommend it for almost any ailment 😁😁

Latest proof: friction burn from dog lead walking accident (don’t ask)... medics recommended keep clean, loose dressing, leave it to heal naturally.. 1 week later, no better.

3 days of Sudocrem - virtually fixed, almost expect new foot to grow shortly !

who will join me in the Ode to Sudocrem - or even recommend new potions with magical powers that I can add to my list?

Yes we call it magic cream too it is though. I've even used it on the cat when he got into a scrap and had a sore on his ear and guess what what it worked perfectly

I love the texture of it, especially the first foray into the pot. When I was in my local Primark recently they had those teeny bounty box size ones at the till point.

RB68 · 19/05/2019 20:22

Another Fan and DD is 14. Its the Zinc - promotes healing.

Also love "Germy" great on small patches of sunburn if you miss a bit takes the sting and itchiness and heals the skin

Cactus67 · 19/05/2019 20:34

Great on everything but baby’s bum really
Oh and tattoos, defo not recommended by any tattooist!

Ilfie · 19/05/2019 20:38

Brilliant stuff! I had nasty emergency op to remove diseased gall bladder recently- was done by laparoscopic procedure but ended up taking 3hrs instead of 1! Mainly because they didn’t want to go to full procedure and have to give me a bed! For a week- anyway enough of my moans... instead of four small incisions I ended up with massively black bruised stomach and gaping wounds- 2 of which became infected after 24hrs- unfortunately it was then the weekend and only option was A&E or visit local pharmacist- the latter was horrified at my condition but got me to use sudocreme over the wounds... worked brilliantly- have been a fan ever since!!!

VeryLittleOwl · 19/05/2019 20:39

It's wonderful stuff. My pony was rather tubby when I first got him and had massive raw chafed patches from sweating between his buttocks and thighs - smothered them in Sudocrem and they cleared up beautifully, although you could absolutely guarantee that the moment I was standing behind him in the field with his tail lifted up, gently rubbing it on the sore bits, which always made him lift his head up and flap his top lip madly, a neighbour would walk past!

Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream is not the same as Sudocrem Cream.

bbcessex · 19/05/2019 20:44

Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream is not the same as Sudocrem Cream.

Really?!

I didn’t know there were two types! What’s the difference?

Cactus67 · 19/05/2019 21:05

Bbcessex something about the antiseptic element drawing ink out

Cactus67 · 19/05/2019 21:06

^ whether or not that’s true I don’t know but I’ve had a few tattooists say it’s a big no 🤷‍♀️

Twinmama32 · 19/05/2019 21:18

Known as magic cream in our house, there’s nothing it can’t fix!

LouH1981 · 19/05/2019 21:35

@ratspeaker - I’m with you - our vet recommended it for our Labrador when he had his bits removed. He had his cone on so couldn’t lick it but it did a great job.

threesenoughthanks · 19/05/2019 21:39

It's a thing of wonder that's for sure. It also works on chillblains too. My dH gets them on his toes.

EffYouSeeKaye · 19/05/2019 22:05

It’s rubbish for nappy rash. I sort of dismissed it after that. Maybe I ought to give it another go?

Is it any good for healing scars?

Namechangerextraordinaire1 · 19/05/2019 22:09

We love it here too. I find the smell oddly comforting too, like pavlov's dogs for knowing all is about to be well 😂

soupmaker · 19/05/2019 22:24

My first aid kits contains Vaseline, plasters, tweezers, anti-histamines, calpol and "bum cream" aka Sudocrem. Nothing else required, ever. "Bum cream" used for anything sore, red and/or itchy - always works a treat.

helloworld101 · 19/05/2019 22:26

long story, but to get to the point I had a hole in my tooth in a lot of pain, couldn’t get to a dentist for 2 days. So filled the tooth with a little sc and topped off with a bit of cotton wool immediate pain relief... thank you dental nurse for that wisdom. Who knew you could put it in your mouth!!

SweetMarmalade · 19/05/2019 22:53

Oh wow, OP! Your friction burn takes me back 25+ years to mine, back of both bloody knees, had to lie on my front for over a week! So painful! Those pesky leads! This was pre dc so no sudocream!

Happy healing!

Mothership4two · 19/05/2019 22:55

We always have a large pot on the go. We all suffer from contact excema on our hands and its the only thing that will shift it. As well as scrapes, sunburn, spots and mystery sore patches. I always slap it on after shaving and have used it as an overnight face mask. Have used it on the dog too. Brilliant stuff.

MissMoan · 19/05/2019 23:04

I use it as a night moisturiser on my face every night. I look incredibly pale going to bed, (#ReasonsImSingle) but my skin has never been better!

Redlocks28 · 19/05/2019 23:05

@Mothership4two agree-its brilliant for eczema!

OdeToDiazepam · 19/05/2019 23:09

Great for sunburn and I used to use it on my horses muzzle who has photosensitivity and it's a great barrier!

HeronLanyon · 19/05/2019 23:32

I’ve never thought horses have muzzles !
