To ask what's going on with my body?!

Good morning!
Ok so just to get it out the way with for people that may ask, no I'm not here asking you to tell me if I'm pregnant, the answer to that is no I'm definitely not.

Since I started my period aged 12 if I remember correctly I've never ever been more than 4 days late in my life (mid twenties now) last month i was a few days late nothing alarming though.

However this month I've had period pains for the last 2 weeks, im currently 14 days late and yesterday morning I had a very small amount of brown blood but absolutely nothing at all since, yet still the pains!

What is going on! This is driving me mad, when I'm at work with the pains i rush to the toilet with a tampon because I don't want to leak but there's nothing, its so strange for my body personally, my cycle is normally so regular.

Have you been to a doctor?

QueenBeex · 14/05/2019 08:58

I was going to ring them today but I don't want to seem silly when it's not a huge health concern.

I would see your gp or at the very least consider whether you could be pregnant.

CaptSkippy · 14/05/2019 09:33

Sudden changes in period when you were fairly regular before are a cause for concern, whether you are pregnant or not.

swingofthings · 14/05/2019 09:37

Depends on your age. There's always that first strange cycle/period when you first enter the menopause. Mine was at 42yo.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 14/05/2019 09:40

Stress can cause late periods. I would do a pregnancy test regardless as this is what the doctors will ask you first. They insist my friend do once when she was in a same sex relationship and had been for 10 years! Then try to get an appointment. 6 weeks without a bleed is a long time when you’re usually regular.

QueenBeex · 14/05/2019 09:45

So when I do a pregnancy test and it comes back negative, then I should go to the doctors and tell them I'm not pregnant but something isn't right? I just don't want to waste the doctors time on periods etc when other people need the apps!

OP posts:
Gigglinghysterically · 14/05/2019 09:50

@Swingofthings
OP has stated she's in her mid twenties now.

Aimily · 14/05/2019 09:51

Take the test and either way you will not be wasting the Dr's time at all. This is your health, you are as important as any other patient! Please go see your GP.

Janus · 14/05/2019 09:54

Have you had a smear test yet? (Not sure what age this starts now). Don’t want to alarm you at all but I think the dr would be wise to suggest that just to be on the safe side.

DottieLottie1 · 14/05/2019 09:54

Have you a healthy BMI? Have you lost weight recently or underweight?

You need to see the Doc Regardless.

WeeDangerousSpike · 14/05/2019 09:57

Could you possibly have left a tampon in from last month?

Even if you know you've taken it out, I've heard of people having two in one applicator and not realising they've inserted two in one go.

I'd have a feel inside, just in case. And definitely Dr visit too. The

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 14/05/2019 09:58

@queenbeex yes pretty much!

ginghamtablecloths · 14/05/2019 09:59

I was always very regular but just once or twice I had an unusual bleed with extra pain. I just put it down to bodies not behaving like robots and ignored it. It went away by itself and never gave me any further problems.

BogglesGoggles · 14/05/2019 10:02

Are you 100% sure you aren’t pregnant? If you’ve had sexual at any point in the last 9 months it is a possibility even with negative tests. Other things to consider include:
-weight loss, if you weigh less than 45kg your periods will most likely stop
-hormonal contraceptives-are you using them?
-illness and jet lag

QueenBeex · 14/05/2019 11:52

Never had a smear test, no.

My weight hasn't changed in years, doctor always tells me I'm a healthy inbetween weight.

I've never used any contraceptive type of medication. (Implant, pill etc)

I wouldn't say I'm more stressed than usual tbh, all just a bit strange.

I have had sex in the past 9 months but I'm sure there's no chance of me being pregnant. If (most likely will) I do go to the doctors I will of course do a test before hand just so they can rule that out.

I shall ring the doctors first thing in the morning then I may have a chance of getting an app later in the same day. I will also buy tests tonight after work so I can do one in the morning too before I ring them, even though I'm not pregnant. Will be nice to find out why I'm getting period pains for the past few weeks with only a tiny spot of brown blood yesterday morning then absolutely nothing since apart from the pains still of course. I've never missed a period for anywhere near this length of time before which is why I'm getting abit concerned myself Confused thanks for the replies.

OP posts:
QueenBeex · 14/05/2019 12:06

Oh and to answer another question, I'm not ill however thinking about it, recently (past week or so) I've been cold and shaking alot. Not thought nothing of that though Confused

OP posts:
BanginChoons · 14/05/2019 12:06

Are you on any medication op?

Any major changes in diet or exercise?

And what makes you so certain you aren't pregnant? What contraceptives do you use?

seven201 · 14/05/2019 12:07

I had a cycle of 63 days once. Google told me sometimes you just miss a period and you didn't need to go the doctor unless your period don't arrive after 3 months. But my cycles were never like clockwork. I personally would just wait it out, but if you feel you want to see a gp then do.

MyCatHatesEverybody · 14/05/2019 12:09

How have you got to your mid 20s without having a smear test? You need to get one booked regardless of anything else.

MyCatHatesEverybody · 14/05/2019 12:11

My apologies, I see they don't start doing smears till 25 now so it depends what side of mid-20s you are.

Fairylea · 14/05/2019 12:11

You need a smear test and a chat to the doctors. Lots of things can screw up your periods - prolactin issues, hypothyroidism, anaemia etc etc. (You don’t have to have heavy periods for anaemia to cause an issue with them). Definitely see a doctor and go from there.

dellacucina · 14/05/2019 12:12

Go to the doctor. You're not wasting their time.

Alternatively, if you have private health insurance, you could see if they have a health line you can call to ask for advice. (They will probably tell you to call your GP.)

Ginkypig · 14/05/2019 12:31

Have you been under an unusual amount of stress or has some big life event happened, like a death or exams or something equally big?

Stress or big life stuff can potentially interrupt your cycle.
