He’s not a man of the people- he’s one of the elite. He’s a wealthy ex broker who wants to privatise the NHS. He has earnt a massive salary as an MEP but barely turned up. He’s a con artist who is actually pretty racist and unsavoury.

Am tired of seeing him on TV - he cares nothing for the poor of this country. I wish he would go away never to be seen again.

Farage is making shed loads of money off Brexit. His personal company, that he channels his media earnings through to avoid tax, held £420k for the year ending May 2018, up from £93k the year before.

“Man of the people” “anti-elite” my arse.

Suckers.

Stripyseagulls · 14/05/2019 08:01

And there were a couple from Benidorm on the TV who flew back for a Farage rally because they wanted out of the EU - bunch of hypocrites duped by Farage’s bile

So not living in Spain at all, just spending the winter there.

Stripyseagulls · 14/05/2019 08:05

@alsohuman but having the option to do that which is now being taken away from young people

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/05/2019 08:08

Who are his supporters? The people who voted to leave the EU three fucking years ago

I think there is a slight danger that support for the brexit party is confused with support of farage

I know two people who want to vote for the brexit party as a protest vote...but loathe farage

longwayoff · 14/05/2019 08:09

Anyone who has had their sense of humour removed should, regardless of age, most definitely have their vote removed. That will include all brexit voters who are unable to see that Farage is a comedy act. He's a con man people. Open your eyes.

Alsohuman · 14/05/2019 08:10

To be honest, I don’t think leaving the EU will stop retirees spending the winter in Spain and not many young people have that opportunity now because they have to work.

The common factor on this thread is that we hate Farage for a whole variety of reasons but condemning an entire generation on the basis of anecdotal evidence isn’t particularly helpful.

NoonAim · 14/05/2019 08:14

The ageism on this thread is appalling!
Agreed @HazelBite and it's absolutely rife all over mn. Reporting seems to make no difference. If it was suggested the vote should be taken away from disabled people or black people the reaction would be somewhat different.

SittinOnThaToilet · 14/05/2019 08:17

I got some shite through the post yesterday for the "brexit party" with a huge picture of his ugly mug on it. Erm, fuck off.

Ladymargarethall · 14/05/2019 08:20

I do sometimes wonder if some Mumsnetters think they will never grow old. I wonder if their daughters will put them out to grass when they are pensionable age.

HappydaysArehere · 14/05/2019 08:20

MissGiddyPants. I can understand your feelings about elderly voters. However, I am nearly 78 and I fought tooth and nail to encourage all the youngsters in my family to get out and vote remain. I had also posted on mumsnet a plea to get the young to vote. When the result came in I was heartbroken. I could only think that this country had been through so much but this was the first time we had inflicted harm on ourselves. In a mood of despair I posted on Facebook that you can’t help being old but you don’t have to be stupid - which my family thought I shouldn’t have done. Personally, I believed at the time that the Daily Mail was largely to blame and although I only bought it at the weekend for the tv programmes I had seen the headlines as I bought the Times. From the day of the result I have never bought another copy and wouldn’t pick one up if it was offered free. I would add that I know of lots of younger people who voted to leave and old people who voted to remain. It was all about looking at the broader picture and not being swayed by single problems. The EU has problems and people voted for a variety of reasons. I voted for the economy and the future of my grandchildren.

longwayoff · 14/05/2019 08:22

Yes I got the Brexit post too. My grandson helpfully marked it return to sender and reposted it. Make them pay!

RedSheep73 · 14/05/2019 08:24

Obviously hating Farage is not unreasonable. Voting for him is, though.

Stripyseagulls · 14/05/2019 08:24

@alsohuman but isn’t that the point? Yes young people are in work but the option to work in Spain or France or Italy has been taken away from them thanks to Farage’s lies and deceit

I am old and retired and I loathe him & everything he stands for.

Langrish · 14/05/2019 08:25

calpop

“My 80 year old mother agrees”

So does mine and she’s heartily sick of people making assumptions about her opinions because of her age, so much so that she sports a “don’t blame me, I voted remain” pin.
Huge numbers of over 75s voted remain.

Langrish · 14/05/2019 08:31

“How did these people get to vote if they live in Spain?”

If you’re a British citizen you retain your vote for 15 years, wherever you live. Don’t need to fly back either, you can use the postal ballot.

Alsohuman · 14/05/2019 08:37

@Langrish, I didn’t know that. Thank you. 😊

It’s called having your British cake and eating it, whilst sitting in the sunshine Grin.

missbattenburg · 14/05/2019 08:48

To wish Nigel Farage would fuck off to the far side of fuck

And when he gets there, he can fuck off some more.

That is all.

bellabasset · 14/05/2019 08:51

Cameron has a lot to answer for with his ill thought out Referendum! We are currently being told that delivering Brexit is democracy but exactly what did people vote for? How could people know what they were voting for until a deal had been reached? Why is it so wrong not to have a vote to agree on the terms of leaving? The leavers are only 37% of the electorate but unlike a general election leaving the EU will have lifelong effects for the country.

I can't stand Farage with his aggressive policies and refusal to listen to other people. Now it seems he's got another party. God help us

Alsohuman · 14/05/2019 08:53

If I could understand Farage I’d be very worried about myself.

Corriebeag · 14/05/2019 08:56

I’m a pensioner and a granny, and none of my friends can stand this man either. I can’t understand how on earth anybody could vote knowing what they know about him, or what he intends to do. Aaaarghhh!.,

Walkingdeadfangirl · 14/05/2019 09:02

At least he is standing up for democracy. Unlike Corbyn who should fuck off to the far side of fuck.

chocolategivesmehives · 14/05/2019 09:09

Was anyone listening to Today on Radio 4 this morning?

It’s worth having a listen for a couple of minutes from about 7.23.

It was so gob-smackingly hilarious I have transcribed the interview below.

BBC political correspondent Ross Hawkins interviewed several candidates standing for the Peterborough by-election, including one Mike Green, Brexit candidate and local boy made good to the tune of several million £.

Mike Green: we’ll have more control about what we do about education and child poverty, how we spend the money that’s going to the EU at the moment.

Ross Hawkins: so which bit of European law, administration or bureaucracy is stopping us from doing something you would specifically like to do to address problems in education and child poverty?

Mike Green: (silence.......) I.....I haven’t gone into the detail of legal ... specific laws but what I do know is that we’re more hampered by laws that are being put in place by people who aren’t elected, you know I don’t see how the EU are helping.

Astounding ignorance and hubris by someone standing for election - I could weep, but tbh that’s pretty much the response from anyone I know who voted leave. They have no idea.

Oh, and my 90 year old remain voting mother has just sent off her postal vote for the EU elections having put her cross next to a remain candidate. My 86 year old father voted remain in the referendum one week before he died.
