To think that Cadbury’s have way missed the memo?

Just seen an advert for the new Cadbury’s buttons treat box thing - think they’re called Treasures?

Plastic box. Two big compartments. Shite plastic toy. About four buttons.

Have Cadbury’s missed the cutting-down-on-plastic memo? What’s wrong with a bag?!? And why the need for an additional treat when you’re already giving buttons (or a Freddo)

Am I a miserable bitch, or is this just ridiculous?

Is the plastic pot recyclable?

PotatoesPastaAndBread · 13/05/2019 20:38

Just saw a TV add for it!

Agree, ridiculous

StillCoughingandLaughing · 13/05/2019 20:38

Honestly? I think you’re being miserable. We can’t just never use plastic again.

SandAndSeals · 13/05/2019 20:38

What’s wrong with a bag?!?

But bags are plastic too?

Mrscog · 13/05/2019 20:41

Op I’m with you, this is the type of thing that should just be banned!

HowardSpring · 13/05/2019 20:41

I thought exactly the same OP. Ridiculous.
Kids do not need more plastic crap. It will not get recycled, it'll go into landfill.

Iwantacookie · 13/05/2019 20:42

I did some market research on something similar but it was a fredo yoghurt/moose and a toy.
I think it's trying to be the new kinder surprise.

chainofevents · 13/05/2019 20:43

Very true, the pot (and plastic crap toy) may be recyclable, but will it be recycled at the park, or just popped in the bin when clearing up?

Also, should the chocolate not be the treat in itself (on a diet, chocolate buttons are my weakness - appreciate this is likely to be me being highly miserable)

And, well, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it...? are button sales slowing THAT MUCH cos they're in a bag? 🤔 or is it cos the chocolate is now shite?

OP posts:
raviolidreaming · 13/05/2019 20:43

I agree entirely, OP.

DeRigueurMortis · 13/05/2019 20:43

Totally agree OP.

Traveler001 · 13/05/2019 20:43

They missed the memo by making them freddos treasures and then putting in buttons and not freddo heads!

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 13/05/2019 20:46

Hmm I kind of want one now...

HowardSpring · 13/05/2019 20:47

Also it is the attitude that the "suprise toy" is being bought for the sake of buying something. It'll be a surprise far all of thirty seconds. Unlikely that it will be a toy that is enjoyed for long or treasured.

If you want chocolate, then fine to buy chocolate. If you want a specific toy, fine to buy it. But this encourages buying for no reason other than to satisfy a kid's need to be bought stuff.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/05/2019 20:48

They missed the memo when they changed the Dairy Milk recipe.

SignOnTheWindow · 13/05/2019 20:48

We can’t just never use plastic again

Well, we could at least try to stop producing pointless plastic tat.

twosoups1972 · 13/05/2019 20:52

How is it different to a Kinder egg? No-one complains about those.

Mammatino · 13/05/2019 20:53

I do love a button but why call them freddos when they are buttons and yes another plastic piece of shit to get rid of. Also the advert where the dad lobs himself off the kids climbing frame closely followed by his child is pretty dangerous too.

chainofevents · 13/05/2019 20:55

I do twosoups, not nearly enough chocolate in a Kinder Egg to satisfy my current salad-ravaged state 🥴

OP posts:
Binglebong · 13/05/2019 20:56

To be fair that probably is recyclable while the bags are not.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/05/2019 20:57

So, what is is is plastic, more plastic, palm oil and sugar.

Perfect.

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/05/2019 20:58

Recycle is the last option.

First reduce, then reuse. Very much missed the memo

MatchSetPoint · 13/05/2019 20:59

I agree totally, if they wanted a chest shape why didn’t they use an egg box type material...

FurrySlipperBoots · 13/05/2019 21:01

My heart sank when I saw the advert too OP!

Greatbigterribleshart · 13/05/2019 21:02

I agree. I also love a good kinder egg but cba with the toys. I know you can get the kinder chocolate bars which are lovely but the thin chocolate egg beats all. I'd love if they just did the eggs on their own
