What time do you eat your evening meal?

I’m ready for mine by half 6 at the latest. DP would eat his at 9 if he could. we try and compromise by meeting in the middle and having our dinner around 7:30. I’m always ravenous by then and DP isn’t fully hungry yet though. What time do you eat yours and is it the same time as the rest of your family (unless you live alone of course)?

Normally between 7 and 8. Tonight it will be later because I have a class and won't be home until 8.45.

I try not to eat after 9 because we go to bed early (permanently tired!) and I don't like going to sleep on a full tummy.

QueenOfTheEighthKingdom · 13/05/2019 18:17

Between 7-7.30 depending on when I cba. Moved on from 5.30-6 as DCs got older and able to empty the fridge help themselves to snacks when they come in and then leave most of their dinner!

Tunnockswafer · 13/05/2019 18:19

5 - 5.30.
I’m aware this makes me “common” but my stomach doesn’t care.
I’d need an afternoon tea if I was going to wait till 8.

origamiunicorn · 13/05/2019 18:22

Between 7 and 8 usually. When I was in school we would have tea about 5pm as we went to bed earlier, I'd be ravenous by bed time if I ate at that time now.

Paraballa · 13/05/2019 18:24

The children eat around 5 and DH and I eat around 8.30/9 once they're in bed.

Emmabryant123 · 13/05/2019 18:27

Usually 8-8.30pm

I'd eat earlier around 6 ideally but dp isn't home until 5.45 and then dd goes to bed around 7.30-8 so we eat when she is in bed

Shed never wait until dp comes home
She eats at 4.30-5

reluctantbrit · 13/05/2019 18:31

Around 7pm. 8pm on some days , depending when DD is back from a club or going to the Scouts.

We always eat together as a family.

MuttsNutts · 13/05/2019 18:32

8-45-9.00pm which is later than anyone else I know but it suits me and DS.

I’m actually quite surprised that so many other people eat late too, we’re not as odd as I thought Smile

BasilTheGreat · 13/05/2019 18:33

6pm

CloserIAm2Fine · 13/05/2019 18:34

I only get home from work at 7 or half 7 depending on how late I had to stay. I have easy foods on work nights but frequently have dinner anywhere from 7.30-8.30

I would prefer to eat between 6-7 but I’m so used to eating late now that I end up doing it even when I’m not working.

ShannonRockallMalin · 13/05/2019 18:37

6/6.30 for me and the teen DCs, and DH if he's here, but he works late several evenings a week so I make something he can heat up when he comes in. DCs have always eaten at the same time as us, can't be doing with two separate tea times.

pinkcardi · 13/05/2019 18:38

Usually 8.30. DH doesn't get home until 7.30 and DC aren't asleep until 8am.

Kids eat from 5-6 ish.

Hate making two meals but no real option

NorthernRunner · 13/05/2019 18:42

About 8.30pm. I don’t tend to start cooking until Dd (4) is in bed at 7.30, I’m a childminder so spent most the day in the kitchen, I need time to relax before I start cooking again!

pallisers · 13/05/2019 18:44

About 7.30 to 8 usually. This is regarded as the middle of the night by my childrens' friends in the US.

Bluesheep8 · 13/05/2019 18:44

5:30 pm on week nights. 7pm ish at weekends.

LaraLily90 · 13/05/2019 18:46

Between half 5 and 7
I normally have a small supper though after dinner any time between 7:30 and 10

Dollywilde · 13/05/2019 18:47

Between 7.30 and 8. We cook from scratch every night and I’ve just got in.

My parents are night owls and stay up late, they eat at 9 or 10. MIL is a lark so eats around 5/6 and is in bed by 8.30. DH and I joke that between us we’ve evened out our family Grin

RomanyQueen1 · 13/05/2019 18:52

We don't have a set time, every day is different. Could be tea as early as 3.30 then some supper later, before bed. Or it could be dinner from 6,7,8, or 9. It depends on what we are doing that day.

afrikat · 13/05/2019 18:57

Varies day to day, between 4.30 and 7 but usually around 5. My DH and I will often eat separately but I'll sit with him and chat whilst he eats. Neither of us wait for the other if we are in and hungry

InMyOwnParticularIdiom · 13/05/2019 19:01

About 5.15 most days so that DD aged 2 can eat with us. We're lucky that DP starts early and has a five minute commute.

Sometimes at weekends DD will eat at 5 and then we'll get a takeaway once she's gone to bed.

isseywithcats · 13/05/2019 19:02

just finished ours usually eat between 6.30 and 7

TodayIs · 13/05/2019 19:04

Breakfast 7.30am
Lunch 12 noon
Dinner 5.30pm

No snacks - I stick to these three meals pretty religiously and it keeps my weight in check!

NorthernRunner · 13/05/2019 19:06

Are those of you that eat at 5.30/6pm not ravenous by bedtime?

Greenandcabbagelooking · 13/05/2019 19:08

About 6pm, because my lunchtime is so early at work. I'd just snack otherwise.

mydogisthebest · 13/05/2019 19:14

We ate usually between 7.30pm and 8pm. I really could not earlier. If I ate at 5pm or 6pm I would have to eat again before I go to bed at midnight.
