What time do you eat your evening meal?

I’m ready for mine by half 6 at the latest. DP would eat his at 9 if he could. we try and compromise by meeting in the middle and having our dinner around 7:30. I’m always ravenous by then and DP isn’t fully hungry yet though. What time do you eat yours and is it the same time as the rest of your family (unless you live alone of course)?

6.30/7

caperplips · 13/05/2019 16:23

usually around 7.30 - 8pm. Don't get in from work until 6.30pm

WorraLiberty · 13/05/2019 16:25

5.30 suits us all.

outvoid · 13/05/2019 16:26

Between 6:30 and 7pm, it depends entirely on what time DP gets home and also what meal it is.

Megan2018 · 13/05/2019 16:33

Between 8 and 9pm usually Mon-Fri, because I'm not home any earlier than that, DH aims to have it ready about 20 mins after I arrive (he mainly cooks in the week).
I'd like it to be earlier but I can't get home any quicker!

Weekends - about 7pm.

mindutopia · 13/05/2019 16:45

6:30-7 ish. That’s the earliest we can manage to cook it, but dc go to bed at 8/8:30.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 13/05/2019 16:50

We're generally around 10:30pm - 11pm however we don't go to bed until the early hours of the morning.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 13/05/2019 16:51

Early, between 530 and 6 normally.

This is because of the kids really. I would rather eat later, when I was growing up we’d eat no earlier than 7. It means I snack a lot in the evening.

Snog · 13/05/2019 17:04

Between 6 and 7pm
I don't sleep well if I eat later than this.

winepls · 13/05/2019 17:07

If just DH and I, anywhere between 8.30 and 10pm. 6 if weekend & we're eating with DCs.

Allhailthesun · 13/05/2019 17:08

5.30.

Get home, make dinner and get it over with. Gives us a few hours to do stuff and DS has a small snack later. We’re in bed by 10pm.

BrownEnvelopeWoman · 13/05/2019 17:11

When the dc were small (up to about age 8) they had their dinner at 5.30 and dh and I had ours about 8ish once they were settled.
Now they are teens we all eat together. In the winter we eat about 7pm and in the summer about 6, to make the most of any daylight (in the summer we will be out gardening or walking or the dc will go out to exercise etc after dinner).
Saturdays are later.
Sunday's are earlier.

Applesbananaspears · 13/05/2019 17:12

8.30 - 9.00 I’m not hungry any earlier.

CremeEggThief · 13/05/2019 17:12

Any time between 5.30 and 9, but usually 6.30-8. I like to eat earlier on Sundays though, and then have a light supper any time between 7.30 and 10.

Purpleartichoke · 13/05/2019 17:12

About 5.

Drogonssmile · 13/05/2019 17:14

5-5.30 if it's with the kids or 7.30-8 if it's once they've gone to bed.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 13/05/2019 17:17

8.00 - 8.30pm.

cliffdiver · 13/05/2019 17:19

5-6pm with he kids as I then fast for 16+ hours (I will drink herbal teas, water, black coffee).

Isn't that just having a late breakfast?

We eat as a family at 5pm.

MattieB19 · 13/05/2019 17:21

9pm. As a child I was always made to eat at 6pm. My parents and immediate family do this. When I moved out I ended up eating at 8:30 or so, now I live with my partner and he prefers 9. I couldn't ever eat at 6 again, it just didn't suit me or my lifestyle. I need to relax before dinner and I don't get home until 6:30 at the earliest.

Petalflowers · 13/05/2019 17:25

Usually between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. Then I can clear up etc and have the evening free.

The trouble with being an early eater is that meals out tend to be later, so i’m always ravenous by then (and invariably need to eat a sandwich before going out).

WheresAllTheGoodInTheWorld · 13/05/2019 17:26

6pm. I like to have it ready for when do gets in, so it works for dds bath and bed after. And we eat together. She goes to bed at 7.30 so can't eat later. And don't want her eating alone. Weekends I often do it earlier maybe 5pm then have something sweet with a movie later on.

Justgivemesomepeace · 13/05/2019 17:31

Early. I like to be eating by 5pm latest, otherwise the kids are trying to eat rubbish then don't want their meal. I like to be cleaned up early as there are clubs most nights for somebody. No way could I eat past 7pm and there is no way I could deal with a messy kitchen after 9pm !

Harebel · 13/05/2019 17:36

5.30-6ish mostly and sometimes 7-8ish but no later.

Hate eating late anyway it's not good for you to go to bed on a full stomach, so I hear.

Youngandfree · 13/05/2019 17:38

Half 5/6 with the DC

RussellSprout · 13/05/2019 17:57

Usually around 6 ish, certainly before 7.
