so was reading an online news article about a twitter thread,in which people said they did not wash legs in the shower.I am confused why you would leave them out.Is this a thing? one woman said she only washed them when she shaved!Do you wash your legs in the shower?

If you rinse a dirty plate under running water it won't clean as well as washing up liquid rubbed in with a sponge, same idea

I rub the plate with a sponge because it usually has food on it. My legs do not usually have food on them.

If the plate started out more or less clean and had no visible dirt on it, I would be quite happy eating off it after running it under hot, soapy water for 10 minutes.

This old thread from 2017 on the same subject has more than 200 comments too Grin

What I want to know is, do people wash behind their ears?

MariaNovella · 13/05/2019 13:14

I wash behind my ears and in my ears! Ears can get very smelly.

CrinolineQueen · 13/05/2019 13:14

I wash my legs and feet daily but I'll also happily wee in the shower if the mood takes me so I'll probably lose points for that.

ravenmum · 13/05/2019 13:16

Maybe the ears need their own thread 😂

Okwhereisit · 13/05/2019 13:16

Can't believe so many people think soapy water running over themselves equals cleaning themselves. A bit like the the folk who exit the public toilets and you see them sticking their hands under the running tap for a few seconds. No wonder that in malls, supermarkets and on public transport there are so many people who smell as if they need a good wash. They do - and no wonder if they don't wash all over!

ravenmum · 13/05/2019 13:21

Personally I bathe three times a day in TCP and sand-blast my entire body for 20 minutes.

Hailthelime · 13/05/2019 13:24

Only if I've exercised or if I'm shaving. They don't get dirty otherwise!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 13/05/2019 13:25

I do ears and belly button.

BestZebbie · 13/05/2019 13:29

Top tip: if you wash your legs with hair conditioner it softens regrowing leg hair so the ends aren't scratchy before it gets long enough to shave again.

KindnessCrusader · 13/05/2019 13:32

No I don't, unless I'm shaving...this reminds me of my sister being horrified I don't specifically wash my belly button in the shower Grin

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 13/05/2019 13:40

There are people on the thread mentioned above who have never washed their feet? Ffs

NunoGoncalves · 13/05/2019 13:51

Will you tell me what difference rubbing my legs with my hands would make? Given the fact that there is no dirt or sweat on my legs that needs to be rubbed off.

ravenmum · 13/05/2019 13:57

Nuno, it seems we are meant to rub the soap into our skin.
I'm a little afraid to follow that instruction, as clearly once the soap is on my skin, mere water will never rinse it off and it will be there permanently.

BlooperReel · 13/05/2019 13:58

yes, otherwise the dead skin cells just build up surely? I use one of those shower puff things that are lightly exfoliating, and shower gel/creme.

Okwhereisit · 13/05/2019 14:00

Surely behind your knees need to washed, or do you not sweat there?😉

cuppycakey · 13/05/2019 14:15

Surely behind your knees need to washed, or do you not sweat there?

Um, no I don't. Unless it's 30 degrees or more. I guess some of you get very dirty sweaty smelly legs and some of us don't......

If your legs get so nasty then yes, I can see you would need to give them a good scrubbing.

Sakura7 · 13/05/2019 14:17

Good lord, do people really not understand how soap works? Or that you can't see the things that need to be cleaned off skin, like sweat and dead skin cells?

I agree that some on here are obsessive about cleaning, and there's no need to scrub every inch of your skin every day, but never washing certain parts at all is very strange to me.

Okwhereisit · 13/05/2019 14:17

This thread is so funny. So many mingers😁

ravenmum · 13/05/2019 14:21

So how does soap work?

ravenmum · 13/05/2019 14:21

No Googling!

theworldistoosmall · 13/05/2019 14:21

Well, it's 16 degrees here today. I'm sitting on my bed (resting from two lots of major surgery last week) and the backs of my knees are sweating. They will be washed when I have a shower later.
And yea I also wash the back of my ears, they smell weird otherwise.
But I also found the self-cleaning hair a pile of bollocks..

AriadnePersephoneCloud · 13/05/2019 14:30

Nope. I don't wash anything except pits and bits. I use bubble bath and don't ever look dirty or smell so layigg in soapy water is obviously working just fine.

AriadnePersephoneCloud · 13/05/2019 14:31

Oh hair. I wash my hair. I tried the self cleaning method once. Lasted 6 weeks and it was disgusting! My hair needs intervention 😁

Sakura7 · 13/05/2019 14:34

ravenmum Soap binds to the dirt and allows it to be rinsed away. Water alone doesn't do that.
