so was reading an online news article about a twitter thread,in which people said they did not wash legs in the shower.I am confused why you would leave them out.Is this a thing? one woman said she only washed them when she shaved!Do you wash your legs in the shower?

They are imagining not washing their legs rather than not washing our legs.

Yes - I think this is the answer!

U2HasTheEdge · 13/05/2019 16:30

I'm still struggling with the non feet washers tbh. How can feet not need a wash when they've been in shoes all day?

You are probably struggling to understand because you obviously get smelly feet. I don't. Therefore, laying in soapy water or the shower water running over them is adequate.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 13/05/2019 17:06

I'm not struggling to understand thank you.

Itssosunny · 13/05/2019 17:09

I wash because if I don't I would end up with white dead skin on my heels. I have seen it a lot as well and it's not a pretty sight.

Sakura7 · 13/05/2019 17:27

Yes - I think this is the answer!

Nah, people who wash their legs don't have dirtier, smellier legs than you. We just like to ensure our whole body gets washed.

Okwhereisit · 13/05/2019 17:34

Agree Sakura 7!

Celebelly · 13/05/2019 17:36

I love how indignant people get on these threads 😂

BeefTomato · 13/05/2019 17:38

Sakura7 so what would happen if you didn't wash your legs? Would they get dirty and smelly? How long would that take?

ArgyMargy · 13/05/2019 17:50

@cardibach you've cracked it! This a revelation to me and explains all the 90-second showers that people are constantly taking in between loading the washing machine.

Lol at the "shower gel running down your legs cleans them" brigade.

Okwhereisit · 13/05/2019 18:03

Suppose everyone has a different time scale before their unwashed legs start to reek 😋 I work with the general public and come across a variety of body odours from people who don't look dirty but certainly smell as though a wash is in order! These people can't possibly think they smell, for instance, I regularly come across family groups and every one of them smells bad. So I do think you become immune to the fact you smell if you don't wash properly.😁

NunoGoncalves · 13/05/2019 18:11

I don't think legs are a common source of BO to be fair.

staydazzling · 13/05/2019 18:14

I had to think about but yes a i do I stop from top to bottom though not sure if that's normal, I think it's more hygienic, this reminds me of the threads about bra washing and someone would swan in thinking it was a bit of a stealth boast saying I'm slim with small boobs they don't sweat I don't need to wash mine ConfusedConfused get yer sen weshed yer minger Grin

Okwhereisit · 13/05/2019 18:16

I don't think unwashed skin no matter which part of you body it's on smells nice to be fair

PhoenixBuchanan · 13/05/2019 18:22

I find it so odd that people lather up their whole bodies- why?? Unless it's your armpits/crotch/feet/somewhere with folds it doesn't smell. I've never heard of BO coming from arms or legs?? Soap and scented gels are bad for your skin and very drying anyway.

origamiunicorn · 13/05/2019 18:32

But MN is batshit for competitive cleanliness and people who remove the top layer of their skin twice a day.
😂
Over exfoliating is really bad for your skin.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 13/05/2019 18:33

Your skin holds onto scents. It’s not just BO that causes a body to smell. cooking smells, coffee shops, traffic pollution, cigarette smoke, pets, kids rubbing a yoghurty hand across your shoulder. It all has a scent and clings to your skin in various degrees.

cookiechomper · 13/05/2019 19:01

If I'm sitting in the bath they get clean anyway. If I'm in the shower they get clean by the shower gel running down them. I don't really focus on them.

ChancePeace · 13/05/2019 19:04

I exfoliate my whole body once a week and just let the shower do it’s job every other time

motherheroic · 13/05/2019 19:20

It's not just about smell, is about preventing build up really. This is why we have people who shower twice a week bragging about how 'they don't smell'. Okay maybe you don't smell, but what about build up in your labia and ass crack.

CauliflowerBalti · 13/05/2019 19:31

Water running over something doesn’t clean it. Even sudsy water. It needs a bit of friction to sort the loose bits of skin. I don’t mean visibly loose. The shedding we all do every day. A damp flannel with some shower gel on. That’s how you clean something.

I don’t always shower every day. Usually, but not always. I’m fine with that. I’m not a washaholic, but dear lord... you have to do it properly!

The whole concept of not touching your feet or legs in the shower is mindboggling.

DulcieRay · 13/05/2019 19:39

Depends. 2-3 minute hurried shower probably not would be equivalent to a strip wash. Otherwise, yes, of course

topcat2014 · 13/05/2019 19:41

No-one seems to have mentioned removing the shower from the hook on the wall and holding it closer to the skin, maybe on a power jet type setting?

I am fairly sure if I tried standing on one foot whilst applying soap to the other I would slip over and crack my head open.

But then I am naturally a bit clumsy and like to stay on two feet where possible.

IceniSky · 13/05/2019 19:44

I hope you all exfoliate your scalp on a regular basis, just washing your hair doesn't cut it!

Itssosunny · 13/05/2019 20:18

Okay maybe you don't smell, but what about build up in your labia and ass crack.

If you use bidet or something similar then you don't have to worry about the above.

flirtygirl · 13/05/2019 20:33

I don't think some people know how to wash properly. And this explains all the stinky people around.

If I'm really sweaty and wash up and down scrubbing with soap and a flannel, I can still get out of the shower and smell myself. I'm cleaner but could still be even cleaner.

I think people are either nose blind or think the smell that they smell is fresh.

However you either have dry skin or not.
I wash my feet every time I shower and they are always dry and I get thick skin very easily.
