Does anyone else get “fixated” on a celebrity?

Does anyone else get weirdly intense crushes on celebrities? I’m not even sure if crush is the right word but I go through phases where I watch everything an actors ever been in, read their interviews, that kind of thing. I’ve used the word fixated in the title because I can’t really think of how to describe it.

At the moment it’s Richard Armitage, it isn’t even a fancying him thing I just really really like him as a person. I’ve watched every interview, downloaded audio books, watched some utterly terrible films just because he’s in them..

Does anyone else do this? My friends never seem to (I don’t really talk about it though) and I was wondering if IABU to ask if other people do this too..? I mean obviously most celebrities have a fan base so it can’t be that unusual. I just feel a bit odd, like nobody else does this. It’s happens a few times a year with different people, I’m very fickle

Yes! I suffer ridiculous celebrity crushes; they come out of nowhere and knock me for six. Here are a few from the past:

Jeff Goldblum, Thom Yorke, Goran Ivanisevic, Marco Pierre White, 1/2 of Kings of Leon, Ben Mendehlson and currently...Esben Smed (because I binge watched Follow the Money and I like his bleached hair). I am a very silly person.

Oh and Jaqen H’ghar from GOT. Not the actor, the actual character. Really really like him. Very nice.

I don't often do this (not like when I was younger and was exceptionally obsessive!), but the other year I was on the same plane as Biffy Clyro and now have a rather serious crush on Jim!

I so rarely have celebrity crushes that it's rather taken me aback!

And Ivanisevic! I loved him back in the day. And Ivan Lendl, he was my first tennis crush.

God, yes I do this too! My current crush/obsession is with an actor and has been going on for about 8 or 9 months, which is quite a long time for me.

What does your friend do for him and how did they get the job?

I'm assuming this will pass, as did my thing for Brad Pitt back in the day. I remember being so sad when I found out he'd married Jennifer Anniston.

I had a totally engulfing thing about Kai from Lexx, played by Michael McManus (hence my user name), which went on for years. There is a hard core of KaiSluts online to this day.. I spent a fortune going to a Convention to meet all the cast, including MM, and he is a perfectly charming bloke, but it all faded away... still obviously got a thing about assassins, though.. Another one for Jaqen H'ghar here.. I am hoping he's going to appear in the very last GOT episode, but don't think it will happen..

Winnie as DH was out last night I indulged in a bit of Jaqen viewing, and discovered that Tom W is in the reboot of Das Boot (didya see what I did there?? ). I’ve put it to DH that he might fancy it but he’s dismissed it as ‘impossible to improve on the original’. I think you’ll find there’s one very good way to improve on the original!!

I really liked Goran Ivanisevic, and even more so Ivan Lendl. Lendl tried for years to win Wimbledon, and I'm not sure, but once I think he would have done it, but play was stopped by rain, when it was going in his favour, and the other guy was worn out. Having been rested the opponent fared better when they came back. Goran did succeed once.

I'm obsessive about all sorts of things (TV shows, films, songs, actors) and have never grown out of it. Some of my longtime loves are Patrick Swayze and Joshua Jackson.

I play the same song over and over continuously sometimes, also I've been watching That 70s Show on a loop the entire time we've been together; honestly my DP is a saint to put up with me

I only watch the same 10 shows, I find it really hard to watch new stuff. I’ve kind of made a link between my anxiety and obsessions, when things aren’t great I get a new obsession. It’s like a weird, good looking comfort blanket 😂
