Does anyone else get “fixated” on a celebrity?

Does anyone else get weirdly intense crushes on celebrities? I’m not even sure if crush is the right word but I go through phases where I watch everything an actors ever been in, read their interviews, that kind of thing. I’ve used the word fixated in the title because I can’t really think of how to describe it.

At the moment it’s Richard Armitage, it isn’t even a fancying him thing I just really really like him as a person. I’ve watched every interview, downloaded audio books, watched some utterly terrible films just because he’s in them..

Does anyone else do this? My friends never seem to (I don’t really talk about it though) and I was wondering if IABU to ask if other people do this too..? I mean obviously most celebrities have a fan base so it can’t be that unusual. I just feel a bit odd, like nobody else does this. It’s happens a few times a year with different people, I’m very fickle

I do. I have to force myself to go cold turkey.

My most recent was Hugh Jackman.

I'm the same, but I'm not quite as fickle. I tend to stay fixated for several years at a time. 8 years and counting with my current obsession.

I was fixated on Michael C Hall for ages.

I have a massive crush on Louis Jourdan. He's dead but god he was so beautiful and he worked for the French Resistance. Adoration!!!! Swoon!

I spent most of last year fixated on Lin Manuel Miranda (Hamilton creator).

This year it's Freddie Mercury and it's far worse! I watch his interviews and performances daily.

So glad that other people do this.

The thing that makes me go off them is when they’re married/have kids. I feel like a home wrecker then 😂

I used to. The last one was a theatre actor who I then met - we got on really well and he's now one of my closest friends. But all semblance of my crush / obsession completely dissipated almost immediately because, of course, he's just a normal person. It hasn't happened since, partly because I met my now DH and partly because, I think, meeting my friend made me realise that the objects of my previous obsessions are just normal people.

Although I'd still do just about anything for Tessa Thompson.

The gay thing doesn’t bother me (obviously) but weirdly I agree on the married front which is why my Mads crush has never gone that far. Though actually that doesn’t stop me where Chris Packham is concerned, not that he’s actually married but you know what I mean. Maybe that’s why? Maybe that bit of paper is forming some kind of mental block?

I’ve realised that I’ve not done much research on Diego Luna. Need to get on to that.

Look him up. He’s got a lovely deep voice and is a cracking actor. The man who launched a (several hundred) thousand women into hopeless crushes..

I've done similar to PP with historical events/people too. I had a fixation on Anne Boleyn and the events that led to her execution and researched as much as I could about it. Not particularly bothered about the rest of Henry's wives, just Anne.

I went through a Richard Armitage phase too, circa "Robin Hood" era. I also have "North and South" on DVD And went through a very brief fandango with Benedict Cumberbatch, but that wore off quickly. Have also been in love with various members of Duran Duran over the years.

I moved on to Eddie Redmayne for a good while. Met him once after a play in London - he's a thoroughly nice chap.

Current obsession flirtation is with Jesse Williams from "Grey's Anatomy" 😍

Richard Armitage in head to toe leather was the only good thing about the absolute shit show that is Robin Hood 😂
