To ask if you remember the days when we didn't have to get our feet summer ready

It got warm, we slipped on our Jesus sandals (sometimes with our tights on) and greeted summer.
Maybe we'd paint our toe nails but there was no pressure to file away at our feet, put on some heel cream, buy a Footner.
We weren't shamed by our yellowing heels - they were just part of our wonderful feet that performed the miraculous feat (😊) of carrying us around decade after decade.

I’ve been having regular pedicures for over 30 years and love them. It’s hardly a recent phenomenon

Like a PP, I’m in my early 50s too. I have always taken care of my feet. Didn’t go to salons for pedicures - i scrubbed/washed my feet, use a pumice in the shower, use moisturiser on my feet (and body) daily, trimmed and shaped toenails. Polish occasionally. Be it winter or summer. My friends did this too. Thought that was normal.

Only in last few years with prolific nail salons popping up in my area do I go for the occasional pedicure, maybe twice a year, but I still maintain foot care myself or a regular basis.

I saw a woman in M&S yesterday whose feet were quite breathtakingly awful. The gaps between her toes were grey with oily grime and her blackened toenails were so unkempt that they curled round her toes and scraped the soles of her flip-flops! My six year old daughter went silent at the sight of her, and I hurried past the green beans and was forced to swerve the cheese isle.

How are there no pictures of people's feet on here? I was going to post my own illustrious examples then realised I couldn't work out how to do that from my phone. Is tech inability the reason why? My friend was politely silently horrified by mine during pilates earlier. Still, no one is not gonna shag me because of my feet.

Thanks to this thread I'm doing a foot peel. I'm excited for the skin removal part and I will update...

theimpossiblegirl if you wait til about day 3 or 4, then have a long soak in the bath, all the dry skin will just come off. Gross as fuck, but really quite satisfying! Grin
Runner here, who currently has 10 toes, but only 8 toenails (yes yes, I've changed my trainers for a better toe box shape!) so I don't get summer ready in any way, shape, or form! I paint my toenails now and then if the notion takes me, and I treat any blisters/hot spots promptly (I do a lot of hiking too) but that's about it. Apart from when I did the hard skin peel thing, of course! The idea of a pedicure makes me feel quite unwell, I don't care for people touching my feet! Sad Grin

I’ve just had shell pink shellac put on my toenails for my holiday. I like looking at my feet now!

Vulpine · 27/05/2019 08:28

I paint my toe nails occasionally. Nothing else. Have been told I have lovely feet!

Embracethechaos · 27/05/2019 08:34

Sometimes I shave my Hobbit toes... otherwise I don't get my feet summer ready. Lol

Feet are lovely when looked after
