....to think that this is a new low in the Meghan Markle Debacle

Up to now I've been fairly neutral about Harry and Meghan. I'm not a royalist, im a bit of a republican, but I like to see what the royals are up to, and like a royal wedding. The family rows, extravagant baby shower, all the rumours....I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt, i was pretty indifferent. And i liked the way she was shaking up the royal family.
However, this sickened me a bit. Using an instagram post supposed to benefit mental health charities to flog her rich mate's £900 a night hotel/retreat. Its such a blatantly tasteless and crass thing to do I think its shocking. Welcome the new Fergie.

The post was posted before the baby was born

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 12/05/2019 23:02

I was referring to the DM and many of the readers and let’s face it many on here who can’t stand the fact that Harry hasn’t married a white mc woman L wtf does it matter to anyone of one us who he is married to

Oh so when she was pregnant she didn’t have othe things on her mind but plugging her friends retreat -yay well done for pointing that out

TwitterQueen1 · 12/05/2019 23:02

The racism is nothing to do with being of mixed heritage but of being an AMERICAN, where money is not a dirty word and prestige and status is totally income-driven.

I don't believe for a minute that she is doing anything deliberately inflammatory - she is just being advised by other Americans who have the same views and ingrained opinions as she does.

I feel very sorry for her.

Bluestitch · 12/05/2019 23:02

It didn't happen because the Daily Mail reported it even though it's on their own IG account, and if it did happen it can't have been Meghan because nobody ever goes online with a newborn even though it was posted before the birth and anyway you're all racists.

So when her superfans said that legitimate criticism of MM's actions as a public figure is fine that's clearly not true. Nothing but denial of provable facts and 100% fawning will do.

ReganSomerset · 12/05/2019 23:08

Came on to say I enjoyed the Markle debacle rhyme.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 12/05/2019 23:12

A new low
As she has had loads of them ? Like what exactly ? And why do you even fucking give a shit ? So bothered you start a thread ??

I am so so so angry and tired of the MM bashing . She is just a human being

How anyone can stay sane with the amount of vitriol poured at her I cannot imagine

LaurieMarlow · 12/05/2019 23:13

I don’t deny she posted a picture of another person on her Instagram page.

I don’t get why that’s such a breach of anything really. But I’ll add posting pictures on IG to all the other misdemeanours she’s been accused of like touching her bump, wearing coats, looking at William funny, telling people she’s pregnant, and on and on ad naseum.

Bestfootforward1 · 12/05/2019 23:15

It's such a surreal experience being called a racist when you are not racist.
Are people honestly saying that we can not criticise MM for anything at all because every single criticism is racist in motivation. Ludicrous.
Harry is equally to blame for this cock up but are we ok to criticise him. He's a ginger. Is that ok?
Fergie, she was ginger and a bit corrupt. Can we call her out on it?
I couldnt give a crap about race, I just dont like to see people of privilege in positions of prestige abusing their power.

"ReganSomerset

Yeah sorry, it was a bit OTT but couldnt resist the little rhyme Grin. To be honest I thought she wasn't too bad and felt sorry for her until this irritated me. It was the contrast between these struggling underfunded charities and plugging her mates business ventures.

None of those things bothered me. In fact i found the bump hugging quite endearing.

Problem solved if we just abolish the royal family altogether.

Hmmm you may have a point!

I feel a bit uncomfortable about slating a woman who has done nothing wrong to me.

I don't really understand ig and influencing.

I would happily see the end of the royal family completely. Not by violence, just as a considered bit of legislation.

WidowTwonky · 12/05/2019 23:30

I also don’t see why that one particular link is any different to all those other non-charity links on that post??

SleepingStandingUp · 12/05/2019 23:36

To pay tribute to all of the incredible work people across the globe are doing in this space, we are hoping to shine a light on several Instagram accounts that promote mental well-being, mental fitness, body positivity, self-care, and the importance of human connection - to not just hear each other, but to listen

When you click on her. Ates page, it's primarily full of positive affirmation stuff. I might be 4 clicks away from booking a very expensive holiday but I wouldn't go wading through to that unless I was looking for that. It's like 6 degrees of seperation!

If I wanted my Instagram full of positive affirmations I might follow them. I wouldn't feel like I had to give them thousands of pounds to go stay with them.

It really is a struggle to find new criticisms isn't it.

FireflyEden · 12/05/2019 23:43

OP you will get blasted for daring to state the obvious about her, but facts are facts regardless of who she is, colour, region etc.
It was clear for everyone too see, end off.

Bestfootforward1 · 12/05/2019 23:47

Thanks Firefly. I was starting to wonder if some of these posts are by MMs PR team, they are so wierd

OP posts:
Bluestitch · 12/05/2019 23:55

I saw a post on a recently deleted MM thread that was sympathising with her having to be in the public eye. Apparently she had somehow stumbled unawares into a relationship with a prince and was bravely tolerating the fame for the man she loves. Some of her defenders are nuts.

Orangeballon · 13/05/2019 02:55

I never look at The Sussex s Instagram page, just not interested,to be truthful, I have never looked at anyone s Instagram page. It’s just too boring.

HeronLanyon · 13/05/2019 03:10

I think there are strands of racism, anti Americanism, real throw back ‘outsider divorcee’ ism going on with MM and the uk media.
Some members of her US family don’t help, obviously.

Broken11Girl · 13/05/2019 03:29

MM is hardly from a deprived background, that she thinks an expensive 'retreat' is a mental health resource infuriates me. Just like whoever it was who wrote an article about the horror of being on a mental health ward for what, 2 days before going to a retreat in Thailand Angry with the added twatness of plugging for her friend.
'Mental health awareness' can fuck off, and so can all rich celebs paying lip service to it when if they have an issue they can pay privately for the most renowned therapists etc. No waiting lists of months for crappy 'group therapy' and being turned away from A&E when acutely ill accused of faking. That is NHS mental health 'care'. If the royals and other celebs gave a shit they'd campaign against the Tory cuts to services. Yeah, not holding my breath.

RubberTreePlant · 13/05/2019 03:44

You're absolutely correct OP. It's inappropriate promotion of a friend's business on a royal SM account by a royal.

Unfortunately the obsessive Meghan apologists are as irrational as the obsessive Meghan detractors.

Thank you!! At last a voice of reason!
I wish MM all the best, Im kind of indifferent to her. She seems ok. But advertising her friend's business is dodgy, and I cant believe it slipped through the PR net.
Unless they get some better PR advice they could really start to alienate the public, like Sarah Ferguson did.

OP posts:
NotMaryWhitehouse · 13/05/2019 06:52

To be honest, some of the other pages they've picked out are pretty odd choices. Why are they promoting a pay per month app?! Also: a charity (which I'm sure is very worth while) in the UAE?

I say this as someone who is pretty pro-MM by the way- I'm sure they BOTH spent a long time choosing these accounts, it's just a bit weird and non-royal. Can't really get upset about her friend's account, it's just as weird a choice and presumably they chose it because they have seen the good it/she can do.

isitspringyet · 13/05/2019 07:10

Pretty crass linking her mates business and also the pay mental health apps. It’s such a struggle to get nhs funded help. I must suggest to my friends suicidal relative a Mustique break tho I’m sure she’d fit very helpful. Loads of free yoga stuff on you tube not knocking the sentiment. Adriene’s yoga is fab and no need to take out a re-mortgage😂
