Thinking of sending Dd to.nursery for 1 or 2 days a week.

Looking at prices just now and ranging from £30-50 per day, meals included, time 8-6

Can I ask what you pay ? Just trying to work out what the average price is though i know its relative to where you live etc

I’m in Yorkshire and pay £44 for a full day (8-6) and £27 for a morning session (8-1).

Leftielefterson · 10/05/2019 22:59

I’m in London and pay a ridiculous £75 per day. Meals, nappies etc are included but I think it’s astronomical.

whitehalleve · 10/05/2019 22:59

For 5 days a week it's £1400 or £1500 a month. (London)

Leftielefterson · 10/05/2019 22:59

Friends of mine living in Bristol pay £52 approx per day 7.30 - 5.30

DerrenBrownings · 10/05/2019 23:00

If you're getting the same for £30 as you are in the £50one then go £30! But I didn't really care about cost when I was finding a nursery for DD, we just went with our gut instinct when we visited them all. Bit like when you view houses - you just know which one is right. Ours is £44 per day only breakfast included.

Magicmonster · 10/05/2019 23:00

£60-64 a day (London zone 2)

AragonsGirl · 10/05/2019 23:01

Just over £40 per day for 1 year old, includes 2 snacks and hot lunch. Reduced to about £35 a day for 3/4 year old (not taking into account the free hours). I’m in the north east of Scotland

River86 · 10/05/2019 23:05

Wow London prices seems crazy.

The more expensive one seems fabulous. Country side, all out doors lots of space for kids . Other one seems smaller and sits on a main road but would be easier in regards to drop offs etc.

Still to view them properly though.

So price generally reduces the older they get ?

GunpowderGelatine · 10/05/2019 23:06

£49 a day

Tobebythesea · 10/05/2019 23:08

Yes but that’s due to the 15-30 ‘free’ hours.

piglet81 · 10/05/2019 23:08

Yes, staffing ratios are slightly lower for children over 2 (I think). And then you get some free hours at 2/3 depending on circumstances.

Don't forget to look into tax-free childcare if you're working.

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 10/05/2019 23:11

8-6 would be £75, if we need six thirty we have to pay £80. That includes nappies and food. DS have actually started yet but we had to get him on a waiting list for when I go back to work in October. South east, not London

Tobebythesea · 10/05/2019 23:11

And older children have larger staff ratios.

UhOhSpagettiOs · 10/05/2019 23:11

£60 a day, Warwickshire. Food included but not nappies etc

FenellaMaxwell · 10/05/2019 23:12

£54 per day, includes meals, snacks and, nappies, plus weekly music, singing and ballet classes with external teachers.

whitehalleve · 10/05/2019 23:13

I think the only thing that really matters, aside from safety issues, is who has the most loving and caring staff. The rest is just detail.

River86 · 10/05/2019 23:13

So I dont 'have' to send her to a state nursery to get the free hours at 3? (I'm in scotland).

The prices they gave were 0-2 Dd 20months.

OP posts:
HappyDinosaur · 10/05/2019 23:16

£57 per day, SW

Cottipus · 10/05/2019 23:17

£48 per day for under 2 in West Yorks- all meals, nappies etc included, open 7.30-6pm.

MumOfOne92 · 10/05/2019 23:18

£50-£70 a day in the Basingstoke area.

AragonsGirl · 10/05/2019 23:20

No, we use private nursery and get the free hours. And definitely sign up for the government childcare scheme, saves you 20% of monthly bill, up to £2000 per child per year

River86 · 10/05/2019 23:36

That's good to know. I always thought the hours had to be with local authority nursery. Makes things a lot easier actually

Thertruthisoutwhere · 11/05/2019 00:20
