To ask if you've ever been banned/barred from anywhere?

Was having a conversation with a friend this week and she's been banned from her local swimming centre for arguing with the receptionist. The receptionist didn't believe her daughters age and said that she was trying to get her in cheaper Confused resulting in the manager banning her for life!

It made me think of the time I was banned from Santa's grotto 15 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can't go into too much detail because it's extremely outing!

Have you ever been banned from somewhere and why?

Lighthearted 😬

I got banned from an MSN group for SW. It was an unofficial group but you’d have thought the moderator was Margaret Miles-Bramwell. She liked tickers and sparkly things in your signature. Hell mend you if you didn’t. She wasn’t doing well at losing weight so those of us that were doing well and didn’t have tickers got flung out with a story that we had set up a rival group 😂

Got barred from a local pub as a drunken 16 year old. They refused to let me in as I was underage, being the dickhead that I was I started shouting about how crap they were and how I would go to the other decent pub in our tiny town and they said I was welcome to. Also couldn't get into the other one, so came back to try and grovel. They didn't want to know, I kicked off, got barred.

It only lasted about a month though.

DonFatale · 11/05/2019 18:33

Not exactly barred or banned but years ago a friend and I went to a local cafe. She didn't have a bag with her, so she put her pack of cigarettes down on the table, with no intention to smoke (although this was pre-indoor smoking ban).

The waiter came out and dramatically harangued her as if she'd just lit up. We walked out in annoyance.

"COME BACK WHEN YOU QUIT" he shouted after us, which has been a favourite catchphrase of ours ever since.

@FaFoutis

Where was this? I'm guessing it was a small town as I was a goth for years and this never happened to me! However I rarely went in pubs but I'm actually shocked at this!
Petty twats(and that's being polite about it)! Like a goth would cause more trouble than a chav!!!!

I've never been banned from anywhere yet I'm actually surprised I haven't so far since I will moan in a loud voice about crappy service and cause a general stink if need but then I do think sometimes I don't go far enough when I do!!!

As for online, I was blocked from some little hipster artists page for commenting that his valentine card jokes were not funny. They weren't.
Oh and got blocked by some bloke trying to cheat on his wife when I made it clear I wasn't interested. Yeah, I have morals unlike him.I don't do that. He's one of those that follows more women than anything and is always commenting and liking on their posts.
I'm sure I've been banned from tons of FB pages though for pointing out bt.

Not so much as snowflakes but a blizzard these days.Hmm

Oilyskinproblems · 11/05/2019 18:42

Not me but my friend got banned from a cafe we frequented at for having an “offensive laugh”

IrishNinja · 11/05/2019 18:44

I was banned for underage drinking at a local pub. I was actually 19 at the time but had been drinking there for 5 years. A week later the ban was lifted as they suddenly realised how much business me and my mates brought in Grin

BiBiBirdie · 11/05/2019 18:44

Banned from the PTA at the DCs original primary school. My crime was to comment to the heads of it and the head teacher that they needed to up their safety game.
School had an outdoor pool. This had an outbuilding which housed PE and PTA supplies. The summer fayre took place and people had to queue up next to the fence of the pool and the gates to get in.
I twice shut and locked the (uncovered, deep) pool gate. Only to have a parent give me a bollocking as it had been unlocked and left open again and her daughter had wandered in, missing falling in the pool by seconds.
We also had a gent collapse, and no one could find either of the first aid officers (1 was a PTA head, the other the deputy head who had fucked off home as he was "bored"). Ambulance crew were unimpressed.
Brought this up during the annual backslap/didn't our leaders do well wine evening and it went down like a fart in a lift.
Shortly after I was told my services were no longer required. Someone had grassed them up to the local authority who passed it to the health and safety executive- I suspect the woman whose daughter nearly went in the pool but they thought I did it as they banned me.

PotsOfJoy · 11/05/2019 18:46

Told to leave Berkshire and not return within 2 weeks after being pulled over in way to a rave.

A nightclub for sniffing K in the toilets. I got caught as I was leaving and taken to the front door. I'd also had some acid and every minute of conversation with the bouncers I was becoming a bit more 🤷‍♀️. Then one of my colleagues from work walked in. She didn't know about my hobbies until then. Told never to return so didn't for a few months.

SunshineCake · 11/05/2019 18:52

I was banned from a chain of shops as a teenager as was caught shop lifting. I was being abused in the care setting and was hoping they'd ask questions and help me but nope. Got bollocked by the police and sent back to be abused more seriously.

jellyfish70 · 11/05/2019 18:53

Got barred form an Indian restaurant and rightly so. After a very merry night, my sister and I decided to throw water over each other, which we thought in our drunken state, was absolutely hilarious!

jellyfish70 · 11/05/2019 18:53

Oh sunshine that's very sad.

funinthesun19 · 11/05/2019 19:03

I got banned from a student union (not mine, I went to visit a friend at university) for calling a toff a "posh cunt" and pushing him into a rose bush.

🤣🤣

pollymere · 11/05/2019 19:09

I was banned from my local post office for getting cross when they bent my parcel marked fragile do not bend to see if they could post it cheaper. I didn't swear but apparently my crossness was aggressive. My dd was devastated her precious parcel had been trashed and was crying so I was upset. I had a letter from Royal Mail clearing me, and saying I wasn't banned but they won't serve me. I just use a different one.

chickengirl77 · 11/05/2019 19:10

Got banned from Woolworths after a school friend was caught stealing, even though I never took anything, was guilty by association, walked back in there few months later and no one said anything 🤣

mnahmnah · 11/05/2019 19:23

Banned from Guides for sabotaging a tea-tasting contest.

Banned from live broadcast as a student radio newsreader. My fellow newsreader was intentionally making me laugh while I was reading a very serious story and I got the uncontrollable giggles. Station manager not amused. I was only allowed to do pre-recorded segments after that, which were vetted

Banned from Guides for sabotaging a tea-tasting contest

Confused Grin Did you mix them up?

mnahmnah · 11/05/2019 19:31

I invented a type of tea with a whole backstory, but it was really Tetley tea cut out of the bags in a random old tin of my mum’s! I won the contest. Then gloated about conning her rather too loudly to my friends Grin

hmwhatsmynameagain · 11/05/2019 19:34

I got banned from the regular pub and club every fortnight, can't remember what the first ban was for but continued to enter each week with various hats etc til they chucked me out

Hereshopingforimprovement · 11/05/2019 19:58

I got banned from a shop when I was a delivery driver because I asked if they would give me change. When they refused I tried to buy chewing gum so I could get change and they threw me out and banned me. Slight overreaction I think!

Bubblegumgal · 11/05/2019 19:58

2 types of people on this thread:
Those that got barred for not putting up with the service & those that got barred for having too much fun 😉

Blacklisted from a taxi company after they were an hour and 45 minutes late (I was 8 months pregnant & it was February) so called another company, they both turned up at the same time, told the 1st one to do one & they blacklisted us.

Got banned from a pub for being underage.
Despite spending my teens stealing random things from big shops I never got caught. A friend did though & got barred from Asda.
Banned from a few places as a teen for being loud & obnoxious. I’d always go back to see if they were going to stick with it. Was a lot braver? Back then 😂

Never dtd anywhere in public- feeling like I should now 🤔😂

Nickpan · 11/05/2019 20:00

I was banned from a conspiracy Maddie McCann Facebook page last year, for demonstrating weapon grade frustration. Someone posted a news headline, saying look at this. And my god, the parents have been arrested, what a development! Turns out it was an article from 10years earlier, it was VERY old news, but posted as if it was fresh. I complained, someone said it was just an article being posted, what was my problem, and it spiralled from there.

Flowersintherainandsun · 11/05/2019 20:00

McDonald's drive through .... Drunk one night I was pushed through the drive through in a Tesco trolly and banned!!! ... Since changed management/staff abc I can use the drive through freely Grin ... (many moons ago)
