to be super puzzled why my elbow stinks

what on earth...... I am clean. I am always clean. However for the past few days my right elbow (the crook of it) has been omitting a god awful stench. I can't wash it off. It is foul.

It smells like feet and rot and awfulness. There is no broken skin, it just looks like a normal elbow. WTF.

why is this happening? anyone got any ideas? soap isn't doing anything!

To all the people saying infection, the signs of infection are redness, swelling, and loss of function.

The loss of function bit would be hard to assess.

A swellbow would need to be checked for infection definitely.
Are you sure you haven't fellbow?
Are you otherwise feeling wellbow?

Sorry to elbow my way into the smelbow fest, but google tells me that the antecubital fossa is susceptible to strep skin infections, and the fact that the smell went away with alcohol would tend to support that - however, common sense would say it would be sore and red?

Do you have access to a dog? They will sniff that region possibly if it's a problem.

Do you have any small bumps /nodules/cysts under the skin? Sometimes a hair follicle can get blocked, gunk builds up inside and then can leak out when it gets over full. It smells exactly as you are describing. If so, a visit to the GP for proper evacuation and cleansing will sort it out. Home remedies just fix it temporarily as they have a habit of repeat offending if not dealt with properly.

Maybe it's a case for the School of Tropical Medicine...

Fossa means ditch, which could explain the smell.

I'm rather disappointed that my elbows actually smell of nothing. Thankfully they're not smellbows but they don't smell like my perfume or body wash or anything, and I definitely washed my entire arms in the shower this morning. DH somehow hasn't noticed that I'm sitting at the other end of the sofa audibly sniffing my elbows though so I'm not sure how long it'll take him to notice.

I smelled my elbow and managed to smell the back of my knees as well, though my boobs got in the way- happy to report I smell of Moroccan body oil .
