to be super puzzled why my elbow stinks

what on earth...... I am clean. I am always clean. However for the past few days my right elbow (the crook of it) has been omitting a god awful stench. I can't wash it off. It is foul.

It smells like feet and rot and awfulness. There is no broken skin, it just looks like a normal elbow. WTF.

why is this happening? anyone got any ideas? soap isn't doing anything!

NO buster! I am with the poster's mother who could solve any medical emergency with sudocrem!!!

BusterGonad · 10/05/2019 07:15

OnlineAlienator Only if the medical emergency involves a sore ass crack!

GarthFunkel · 10/05/2019 07:25

Entry level first aid - wet paper towel
Second tier - sudacrem
Third - dettol bath

An early night comes in fourth, if none of that has worked some Andrews liver salts in the morning should sort it Grin

stayathomegardener · 10/05/2019 07:30

Dd used to call them armbows.

BusterGonad · 10/05/2019 07:38

GarthFunkel so funny, it's like the old saying, if it moves and shouldn't gaffer tape, if it doesn't move and should WD40 😂

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 10/05/2019 08:56

Definitely sudocream and a glass of flat 7up

BoxOfBabyCheeses · 10/05/2019 10:21

DS used to call his knees leg-elbows! Thanks for reminding me OP Grin

I hope you get answers soon....I haven't sniffed my elbow yet. I'm being stubborn and proving that I'm not one of the sheeple. I give it until dinner time til I give in out of pure curiosity,

M3lon · 10/05/2019 10:45

My elbows smell different...but neither is a bad smell.

I think its bacterial...the fact that it kicks off after sweating might mean you've got a proliferation of the skin bacteria that eat sweat and make bad smells. Its not impossible for that to build up in one place rather than generally.

You might need an antibiotic cream for it.

LakieLady · 10/05/2019 10:56

Are you sure that you can tell your arse from your elbow?

That made me laugh so much I've given myself a bellyache.

LakieLady · 10/05/2019 11:04

I would really be worried about something festering under the skin. If there is no obvious sign of anything on the skin but it still smells like a festering wound then you need to get underneath the skin checked!

But record the doctor's reaction on your phone and post it online, so we can see if he/she struggles not to roar with laughter.

LakieLady · 10/05/2019 11:10

I have checked my coat' - no smell in the crease although that was a good call.

That's disappointing. I was hoping you'd come back and tell us that a lump of ageing Gorgonzola had got caught in the lining of your sleeve or something.

AudacityOfHope · 10/05/2019 11:33

Would you honestly not know if there was a 'festering wound' on your elbow?? No heat or pain of swelling would suggest it's not anything that needs to be rushed to a doctor.

You'd be 'that' patient of the week Grin

CustardySergeant · 10/05/2019 11:40

Coldandfrosty "Doctors OP."

Alternatively just dial 999 and yell SMELLBOW! and you'll hear the siren of the ambulance rushing to your aid within seconds.

Innersmellbow · 10/05/2019 12:13

With a smellbow specialist on board custardy.

Persifleur · 10/05/2019 13:07

Haven't rtft, but:
Thrush? Canesten cream.
Flowers

Chartreuser · 10/05/2019 13:15

ERM trying a slightly different track have you tried deodorant in it? May not fix the cause but temp solve the problem at least????

samsamsamsamsamsam · 10/05/2019 14:25

It can't simply can't be festering there's literally nothing there, even the TCP hives have gone.

Giggled at gorgonzola in my sleeve.

It has to be sweat related unfortunately because after every shower it smells fine then if I get hot or walk somewhere it stinks.

Got Canesten. Not doctor-bothering at this point. Will update when I have an updates.

DD smelt it this morning (she asked this time) and then said 'eeeeeeew it stinks of vinegar' and ran to the bathroom and fake-puked. She is very dramatic.

GummyGoddess · 10/05/2019 14:38

Have you washed it with a bar of soap rather than shower gel?

bigKiteFlying · 10/05/2019 14:49

I'd try Chartreuser suggestion and try an anti- perspirant if anti fungal cream doesn't work - would at least help rule out sweatiness.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 10/05/2019 15:11

Sure it’s not your breath?

That comment made me think of this cartoon.

to be super puzzled why my elbow stinks
BuzzShitbagBobbly · 10/05/2019 15:13

itscallednickingbentcoppers Maybe you're one of those people who can smell diseases like that woman who can smell Parkinson's.

And in my skim-reading haste I read that and my brain stored it as Pakistan. I was a several posts further on before I caught up with myself and wondered how the fuck "smelling Pakistan" was a thing.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 10/05/2019 15:13

my generic advice to hypochondriac DC is: big glass of water and an early night, paracetamol if it hurts. I'd be a bit flummoxed with a smellbow tbh.

BBOA · 10/05/2019 17:42

This is why I follow mumsnet😂😂

Lillibee4 · 10/05/2019 17:46

I would have a swab taken for MRSA

Lillibee4 · 10/05/2019 17:49

I would have swab for MRSA seriously
