Washing up

Hoping to settle a difference of opinion... Do you rinse the dishes under the tap as a last step when washing up?

Yes

Suzysleep · 04/05/2019 19:05

God yes

SansasSnatch · 04/05/2019 19:06

No

FatandSassy · 04/05/2019 19:06

Yes! And moan at my two teenagers for not doing it. (And no doubt will get flamed for it)

Also wash up and rinse as the tap is running into the bowl before it's full.

OldUnit · 04/05/2019 19:06

Yes!

MachineBee · 04/05/2019 19:07

I do now. Didn’t used to until I moved down south and got fed up of horrified looks when washing up at friends’ houses.

Chouetted · 04/05/2019 19:07

Yes. Started recently. Massive faff but worth it.

My dream is a kitchen with a double sink.

Faster · 04/05/2019 19:08

Nope.

Totorosfluffytummy · 04/05/2019 19:09

Yes yes yes

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/05/2019 19:09

No.

RedSheep73 · 04/05/2019 19:09

Certainly not. I must be a terrible slob, but I've never done that, and neither does anyone I've ever lived with. What a lot of water that must waste!

aassll · 04/05/2019 19:09

Yes yes yes. I don't want dried suds on everything

Passthecherrycoke · 04/05/2019 19:11

No. Can’t be bothered. Most stuff does go through the dishwasher though so don’t wash up that often

AliceRR · 04/05/2019 19:12

Yes to this except I get annoyed at DH for not doing it

My dream is a kitchen with a double sink.

Also want a double sink when we do the kitchen for this purpose

One day my DH did the washing up and I don’t know what was in the bowl (presumably some kind of food) but it smelled and some of the “clean” dishes on the side also had this same smell. Had to wash again.

🤮

Chouetted · 04/05/2019 19:21

@RedSheep73 it's not actually a huge amount - so long as you don't leave the tap running. The ideal is to have a second bowl with rinse water in, but not everyone has room for one of those.

BetsyBigNose · 04/05/2019 19:25

Nope - I've not done any washing up in 15 years since DH "doesn't mind it" and I'd rather do pretty much anything else! Grin

Thank you!!!

I dip in the second sink which is full of unbubbled water. I couldn't do it under a running tap, too much water waste and too inefficient to keep turning it on and off.

TeddiesAreTakingOver · 04/05/2019 19:30

I don’t know anyone in real life that leaves the soap on dishes. I think it’s really strange. I’ve only ever seen it discussed on here. I don’t fill a bowl with water either, I wash dishes with a soapy brush under running hot water.

JenniferJareau · 04/05/2019 19:35

Of course not

Coulddowithanap · 04/05/2019 19:37

No, but we usually dry up straight away so there is no dried on soapy suds left on the dishes.

RLABC · 04/05/2019 19:38

I'm Muslim and always wash unddr running water. I've not always been Muslim (was brought up C of E) so my parents and I (before) use a washing-up bowl, no rinsing. When I visit them it makes me gag now to think of what's possibly left on the crockery/utensils etc. Same with taking baths - I used to love a long soak and on a recent visit I (thought) really wanted a bath, until it came to it. I just couldn't do it. Sitting in my own muck? No thank you Grin

PinkBuffalo · 04/05/2019 19:43

No

Iwantacookie · 04/05/2019 19:44

Err no I wash them up in the sink then leave them on the draining board to dry.
Wouldn't be able to anyway as ide just be running water into my sink which would overflow.
I'm baffled how others can do this Confused

thepointt · 04/05/2019 19:44

@RLABC I really don't see what being Muslim or any religion has to do with it Hmm , at all actually.
