AIBU to ask my husband to pick up some bits on the way home?

I realised I'd run out of Sanitary towels...and shampoo...and bubble bath...and we're out of toilet roll too. And husband is out tonight and I could do with a glass of wine but don't have any. Oh and we're pretty much out of bread too.

DH said I'm taking the proverbial. He asked me if I wanted anything so I told him......AIBU???

Get reusable sanpro

Liverbird77 · 03/05/2019 08:32

Whoever asked whether you are a sahm...why is that really relevant?
I am, and yesterday my husband picked up stuff on his way home, as he often does.
Aside from generally looking after OUR baby, I took him to a baby class, followed by swimming, followed by a walk. I cleaned the living room and kitchen, did a load of laundry, dishwasher and bins, read stories etc. Then I prepared a healthy meal.
I'm not saying it's amazing, it is just life, but I did not have time to go shopping. I was knackered by the end of the day.
Luckily my husband agrees and values what I do. He even made us a Martini!

Damntheman · 03/05/2019 08:37

I would be spending my days casually sticking (probably unused if I felt kind) sanitary towels on him until he stopped being a tit about buying them.

justmyview · 03/05/2019 08:40

What can I use instead of loo roll? In the past, people used newspaper

ControversialFerret · 03/05/2019 08:54

Any sanpro even if it's the 'wrong' kind, is better than no sanpro!

I despair of the stepford wife contingent on here, I really do. And I say that as an anal retentive who has a fully stocked utility room with bulk bought toiletries and household items! I like being organised; it's a control thing. However I can also be incredibly absent minded. If I texted DH and asked him to pick up 7 items from the shop because we were running low, there's no way he'd only come back with 5!

Megs4x3 · 03/05/2019 08:59

Glad it’s all sorted op and you’re feeling better soon. It’s easy to get the wrong end of the stick when you’re not feeling well. Even more glad to hear your husband’s not a fossil after all. :-)

Why can't a parent go to the shop with a 7 and 2 year old!
This bit confused me?
Then you can get the bread, wine, bubbles and San pro that you desire!

The DH is also a parent. Why can't he pick stuff up from the shop on his way?

Whenever either of us are out and on our way home we both always ring to see if anything needs picking up on the way. And we'd both also get whatever was asked for. Why wouldn't you? Confused My DP has bought me tampons before, because he's, you know, an adult.

Karwomannghia · 03/05/2019 10:09

Have you got the loo roll yet OP?

outvoid · 03/05/2019 10:11

YANBU. I ask my DP to get things on his way home most days. Poor organisation from me sometimes but I also hate going into the supermarket.

notacooldad · 03/05/2019 10:51

Have you got the loo roll yet OP?
Yes she did.it says everything is ok in the update.

This is another bonkers thread, sometimes people miss out on household items or run out quicker than expected.
I know I've been into a shop needing a few essentials and forgot to pick something up, big deal! Dp will pick it up on the way home.
People here just post nonsense.
If Dp is coming home theres no worry about stopping and running into a Tesco metro or co OP or whatever, save taking two kids out if you are doing sonething else.
In my book it's team work and it has served ts well.

LakieLady · 03/05/2019 10:58

What can I use instead of loo roll? Wibu to use a torn page from a book of his???

Bit late now, but I'd fashion reusable arsewipes from his favourite shirts. And make him launder them after use.

Karwomannghia · 03/05/2019 10:59

She said

He forgot loo roll but zipped to the shop this morning whilst the kids were eating breakfast and got me proper towels.

So I thought maybe she still hadn’t got it!

TotHappy · 03/05/2019 11:45

What is the point of people asking WHY the op ran out? You must know there's no answer. What are you expecting 'because it was a test to see if he can remember the list or has early onset dementia', 'because I'm exploring an idea for a new reality TV show, 'Slatterns of the Westcountry'', 'because I have given up hope of living through the impending apocalypse and now just buy gin and cartridges'.

I ran out of loo roll during my daughter's christening party, with 40 guests in the garden. WHY??? Maybe I thought God would provide.

MRex · 03/05/2019 11:50

I don't get it. If you need stuff from the shop and he's out by himself, then of course he should get it. If you asked him to leave work early to buy you bubble bath then that's taking the piss, but of course he should get stuff. Is it the sanpro that he got embarrassed by? I doubt the shop assistant would think they were for him if that was his concern. My DH has picked up tampons for me before, I had no idea it was a big deal.

nicenewdusters · 03/05/2019 12:26

I love these threads. So much unconscious bias. SAHMs should be doing everything, 100% organised, irrespective of shingles, toddlers, whatever. Also of course laying in front of a roaring fire wearing nothing but a smile and offering a g&t when the hunter gatherer returns home from the prairie.

Hollanda · 03/05/2019 13:22

LOL!!

YES he got the loo roll. No he's not embarrassed to buy San pro for me. No we don't live in chaos. Yes I'm feeling OK thanks and yes I'm determined to have a glass of wine this evening!!!

No my hubs isn't a fossil. He's just forgetful, the kids keep us on our toes and life's busy! We're both prone to forgetting bits but not everything at once, it's been that sort of week!!!!

On way home after half day.

AIBU to go to the pub!?!?!
