AIBU to ask my husband to pick up some bits on the way home?

I realised I'd run out of Sanitary towels...and shampoo...and bubble bath...and we're out of toilet roll too. And husband is out tonight and I could do with a glass of wine but don't have any. Oh and we're pretty much out of bread too.

DH said I'm taking the proverbial. He asked me if I wanted anything so I told him......AIBU???

You are definitely NBU! My DP goes to the shop on the way home whenever I ask. If it's more than a couple of things he will call from the shop so I can tell him what to get when he's there and incase there's anything I've forgotten.

Bubble bath for his children, toilet roll and sanitary towels are necessities so I don't understand what the issue is or why he can't just pick up an extra few things while he's there?

Even if he just wants to get home after work, he chose to have a family and sometimes he'll need to do a few extra things for said family!

YANBU - I send my DH to the supermarket for everything as I just hate going lol

NoSquirrels · 02/05/2019 18:34

WTF? He didn’t buy the sanitary protection. Possibly more vital than the bloody bread!

Gettingthroughthedays · 02/05/2019 18:35

Glad all is well but he was definitely being a boob.

PrincessCessy · 02/05/2019 18:35

No one is suggesting you leave the children alone. Where are you reading that?

Hollanda · 02/05/2019 18:39

I said it up thread as I was being sarcastic lol.

Yanbu he’s being a knob

Ninkaninus · 02/05/2019 18:41

Seriously though, I’d pull him up on this. He’s out of order making a fuss about it.

EjectorCrab · 02/05/2019 18:43

I do this to my DH all the time. :)
He’s fine with it, unless I criticise his purchases because they’re not quite right. Then he gets cross. So I’ve learnt to simply say thank you.

cardibach · 02/05/2019 18:43

He should definitely have bought everything and is ridiculous for not buying sanitary protection. There was another way though, if his sensibilities were too delicate. You said:
I would buy them but I'm at home with the kids. When he gets back the toddler will need changing for bed and DS needs a bathand I won't get chance to go before he goes out...
Well, there you go. He could do bath and bed for the kids and you could go out.
HIBU however you look at it.

cuppycakey · 02/05/2019 18:43

I don't understand Confused

Why did he buy some of the things you needed but not all of them?

Hollanda · 02/05/2019 18:44

He said he only went to one shop and didn't expect to buy the whole shop.

I said oh.

Ninkaninus · 02/05/2019 18:45

Did he seriously not buy sanitary pads for you?? Or had you already found the unused ones and let him know you didn’t need them?

SunshineCake · 02/05/2019 18:45

How pathetic he didn't want to buy sanitary towels. I'd be embarrassed he's such a pathetic specimen. I suggest you find yourself not able to buy condoms in future.

CalmDownPacino · 02/05/2019 18:46

Is this because he's embarrassed (wtf!) about buying sanitary towels, or because you're a SAHP and he thinks that means you're his housekeeper?

GabsAlot · 02/05/2019 18:48

charming so youre stuck in all day plus doing bedtime and he cant buy some sanitary tweols for you

what a lovely man youre with

arethereanyleftatall · 02/05/2019 18:49

Sorry op, but I wouldn't want to live with someone like this.

arethereanyleftatall · 02/05/2019 18:51

It's a tiny thing, but actually, it isn't.

GabsAlot · 02/05/2019 18:54

*towels

ILoveMaxiBondi · 02/05/2019 18:54

Maybe you need to plan ahead a bit better and buy loo roll before you run out!

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Meanwhile in the real world...

Herland · 02/05/2019 18:55

I don't understand adults who get embarrassed about sanitary products. It's weird. If you can buy toilet roll you can buy sanitary towels.

Ispini · 02/05/2019 18:55

What a twat! I’ve been married for 25 years and my DH always calls me on the way home to ask if we need anything. Stop shopping for him! I’d teach him a right royal lesson after this.

Ginkeepsmesane · 02/05/2019 18:55

I had an ex bf once that was so embarrassed to buy sanitary towels, that he stole them!
I told him he'd look even more ridiculous if he got caught and he had to say why!

I'd almost be inclined to make DH wait to go out whilst I went to the shop, obviously I'd take a lot longer than normal as I'd have had a glass of wine so couldn't drive. Let him explain that to his peers.....

AwakeNow · 02/05/2019 18:57

Why did he not get your san.pro or loo roll? He sounds inconsiderate. Feed him a lot of exlax brownies then see if he thinks loo roll is not so important.
