OP posts:
dimdarkashian · 01/05/2019 22:17

I hear you OP. I've been drinking this (see pic) during my pregnancy and enjoying it Smile

Aberforthsgoat · 01/05/2019 22:19

@pictish well of course you’re not going to get the point then. Still no need to be rude to the op.
You don’t like the taste of alcohol, fine. Other people do and when they can’t have it, look for similarly tasting alternatives. I don’t understand why people are having such a problem understanding, it’s hardly rocket science!

Each to their own and all that.

Geraniumpink · 01/05/2019 22:20

I don’t drink much and I don’t like sweet soft drinks either, so I am enjoying this thread. I thought I liked gin until I realised it was the taste of the tonic water I liked!

pictish · 01/05/2019 22:20

Ach I know. I’m just being daft. Wasn’t being bitchy...probably would have come over better in person.
Still though £26 for not gin. Have a fruit juice.

Newadventure · 01/05/2019 22:23

So what do you do with it??
Is it like pop that you drink on its own or do you treat it like a spirit and mix with tonic etc?? Just curious won't be buying

pictish · 01/05/2019 22:26

Oh and hey, I hadn’t read the thread. Sorry it’s a bit of an onslaught I joined in with.
I’ll get my coat...

Twillow · 01/05/2019 22:27

Great concept BUT it has definitely not got, for lack of a better word, the mouth-burning feel of an alcoholic drink - it is soft and water-like. Not for me.

saraclara · 01/05/2019 22:27

It's really hard to find anything non-alcoholic that isn't sickly sweet. So good on the OP for sharing this.

Why people have pounced on her for it, I've no idea. Is alcohol snobbery a thing?

SolitudeAtAltitude · 01/05/2019 22:30

I did not like it at all

Prefer ginger beer or alcohol free German wheat beer. Much tastier.

expat101 · 01/05/2019 22:33

OP Good that you found something that you like. I battle with finding an enjoyable non/low alcohol wine, either flat and flavourless or too sickly by the 3rd or so glass.

It would be great to see more non/low alc options in restaurants and bars too. I'm not a lime Gal which a lot seem to contain.

Smallinthesmoke · 01/05/2019 22:34

I actually went to a big Waitrose with the sole purpose of buying it but found it was £26 Shock I was visiting a non-drinking friend for dinner and wanted to take it as a gift.
Would have tried it if it were cheaper... thanks for this thread, I might try some of the suggestions like the M&S non-alcoholic G&T upthread.

Aberforthsgoat · 01/05/2019 22:37

@pictish hey, respect for admitting it haha. Most just flounce. hands coat politely, holding out a glass of seed lip temptingly

Newadventure · 01/05/2019 22:37

I'm planning on trying non alcoholic ginger beer stuff at the weekend.
Ginger burns a little so I reckon it'll fake nicely.

HBStowe · 01/05/2019 22:41

I really like it too OP. I went to a hen party where we put on our own gin tasting, and one of the girls who was pregnant brought seedlip as her offering. It was really nice and had the same feel as relaxing with a nice G&T.

(Why are there so many sourpusses on this thread puckering their cat bum mouths because someone likes something they don’t?!)

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 01/05/2019 22:46

£26 is utterly affected and outrageous.

AlannaOfTrebond · 01/05/2019 22:48

I really like Seedlip and whilst it might be £26 a bottle lasts me ages as it's concentrated and needs a mixer.

I find most non alcoholic drinks far too sweet and get bored of straight tonic. I'm happy to pay for a more complex interesting flavoured drink rather than drinking 7up or lime and soda all night.

We have a SodaStream. I use it to fizz up all kinds of interesting concoctions. Far cheaper than £26 on a bottle of cordial with some bergamot thrown in.

RainbowMum11 · 01/05/2019 22:54

It costs more than real gin - why would you?!?!?

tenbob · 01/05/2019 22:56

Someone bought me a bottle of the ‘spice’ version when I was pregnant

It’s absolutely nothing like gin. Fevertree tonic with a bit of a nice cordial plus lots of ice tastes nicer and costs a fraction of the price.
Sorry, I know it’s a current drink of trend but I just don’t get it

Hadjab · 01/05/2019 22:57

It’s the worst 😐

M3lon · 01/05/2019 23:20

I'm glad it doesn't taste like gin...the world already has too much of the taste of gin in it.... blurg Envy

I was quite surprised to discover there was anything in the world that tasted worse than gin...but actually adding tonic really does raise the awfulness to world beating proportions.

PhrixPhrox · 01/05/2019 23:34

I'm pleased that I've found this thread as I can no longer drink alcohol (gives me really bad palpitations and I can't sleep for days - aren't I the lucky one) and had no idea that there were so many alternatives that I could try.

Ok, they may be lousy substitutes, but there's only so much lime and soda, tonic water and vile alcohol-free lager that a person can drink!

donquixotedelamancha · 01/05/2019 23:44

I didn't post for snide remarks

I presume OP has never read a single thread on AIBU.
