I gave a dress to my neice nearly 3 years ago (it was my eldest girls and i was hoping it would be passed back for my yougest daughter) and it has been ruined, all of the tulle has been cut off. Do i have a right to be angry?

Sagradafamiliar · 01/05/2019 17:40

Pathetic

Sorry i ment to just respond to the person who commented about the mice helping out. I get the disney reference there. And also we have cats which i dont think would help repair it. But it is what it is, end of the day it is indeed just a dress. I needed to hear everybody elses responses to work out what to do/how to feel about it. I think angry was probably the wrong word to use, maybe disappointed would have been better. But it is what it is. Move on, buy a new dress, dont share things with said person. Discussing things with people is important to find other points of view.

I don’t get the joke - can someone explain please !!

pictish · 01/05/2019 17:47

“Thank you for the giggle, you've just made my day haha‘

You sure did trick us with your dress story OP...you master of deception you.
Glad it hit the spot for you. You’ve got some time left for further cunning today. Go round and tell your neighbour there’s a dog in his garden...even though there isn’t!
Mwah ha ha ha.

Sagradafamiliar · 01/05/2019 17:48

It is literally an old, cheap dress for playing in. They're not even machine washable. It's no loss

pictish · 01/05/2019 17:49

Oh oops! Blush Grin
Thought you were outing yourself as a troll there.
Nvm.

Sofagirl · 01/05/2019 18:23

You gave it away as a gift not to be returned

It no longer belongs to you

Just buy a new dress for your own kids

You can’t give a gift and expect it back with conditions!...

Expressedways · 01/05/2019 18:42

Don’t share things with said person
You didn’t share it with them, you GAVE it away 3 years ago. Sharing implies you let your niece borrow it to wear for a party or something, at which point you’d be totally justified in being annoyed. I think you need to clarify the difference between giving something away, at which point you no longer have any say in what is done with the item, and sharing/borrowing where you agree that it will be returned after a short period of time. You generally don’t lend an item to someone for several years, especially not when it’s something cheap that wouldn’t normally be expected to last that long anyway. Moving on/buying a new dress is the best plan OP and for the future, don’t give away items that you want back!

BettysLeftTentacle · 01/05/2019 20:06

Oh I thought you were weirdly playing out the plot of Cinderella but getting details wrong.

But I guess that shows how batshit this all is to be fair....

JaneJeffer · 01/05/2019 20:18

You might want to take that down if it's your real name on there.

JaneJeffer · 01/05/2019 20:21

I don't understand this thread?

And when I posted there seemed to be only about five replies and after I posted there was loads! How did that happen?

Confused

£60 for a kids dressing up outfit is, needless to say, an absurd amount of money.
