Dairy Milk tastes just as good to me.

Donning my hard hat and flame proof suit.
I have a feeling it is only me 😣
I have been reading threads for a while now about how horrible Cadbury's chocolate is these days.
Every single time I think, god, I can't bloody taste the difference.
What the hell Blush

I don’t dislike it, but I do find it a bit more sickly, like it’s weirdly sweet, can only take a few bites

Readytogogogo · 29/04/2019 01:44

I can't tell the difference either. I do wonder how many people would think the taste had changed if it hadn't been widely publicised....

DeRigueurMortis · 29/04/2019 01:45

Can't help as I've always (even as a child) found it taste awful.

Same with Galaxy.

Far too sickly, fatty and sweet.

Thornton's chocolate is equally vile.

DramaAlpaca · 29/04/2019 01:45

I've no idea because milk chocolate always tastes disgustingly sweet to me. Give me a tiny bit of a really bitter dark chocolate & I'm happy.

Alicewond · 29/04/2019 01:46

I wasn’t aware that the taste change had been publicised?

sootspritez · 29/04/2019 01:49

I remember finding DM horrible in the early 2000s but since around the time they brought back the wispa I think they're back on track.

However I do think the taste has suffered badly from the change from foil wrapping to plastic. Easter egg chocolate is the best chocolate - the foil just seems to make it taste fresher somehow

ReapersHowler · 29/04/2019 02:05

Try melting it in a bowl it just sort of sits there in a glob.

HelenaDove · 29/04/2019 02:36

Yep Agreed I had a Dairy Milk Easter Egg. And it was lovely. I bought it for £1 after Easter for the mug. The shape is perfect for my cappucinos.

PurpleFlower1983 · 29/04/2019 02:46

I still love it!

Whizzler · 29/04/2019 02:47

I tried a bar of Dairy Milk today for the first time in ages. Commented to my DP how disappointing it was. It tastes....cheap.

Whizzler · 29/04/2019 02:48

I do like a Wispa though. Maybe the bubbles in the structure of the bar improve the flavour as well as the texture.

GoosetheCat · 29/04/2019 04:46

I agree that it tastes a lot of more sickly than I remembered. Much prefer Crunchie or Galaxy.

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 29/04/2019 05:16

I used to eat tonnes of chocolate, but now I don't really bother. It all tastes so...so... synthetic? I'm hugely against palm oil production anyway, so I've just stopped buying it.

vampirethriller · 29/04/2019 06:25

It tastes the same to me too. So do crème eggs.

Divgirl2 · 29/04/2019 06:28

I didn't know they'd changed the recipe and thought my tastes must be changing. It tastes like wax to me now

Stravapalava · 29/04/2019 06:39

Have a square of Dairy Milk and then a square of Ritter Sport or Tonys Chocolonely and then tell me you can't taste a difference. Dairy Milk is just sweet, not chocolately and kind of just goes lumpy and claggy in your mouth.

Gardai · 29/04/2019 06:50

I think it tastes of nothing except greasy brown coloured sweet wax.
I suppose if you had nothing to compare it to it might appear ok.

I didn’t even bother with Cadbury’s cream eggs this year they’re so shite.

Redorangeyellowgreen · 29/04/2019 06:55

Not just you OP.

When I read this type of thread I always think I must be terribly unsophisticated in my tastes as unlike the majority of posters, I have no problem eating galaxy, dairy milk, creme eggs...in large quantities Blush

GrumpyOldMare · 29/04/2019 07:08

It's not just you.I like Cadbury's and Galaxy. Chocolate is just chocolate at the end of the day. Except for Thornton's overpriced horrible stuff.

MadisonAvenue · 29/04/2019 07:11

I haven’t noticed a difference either.

Order654 · 29/04/2019 07:12

I love chocolate and I can’t taste the difference either but I like sweet things.

Cadbury & galaxy are my favourite. I also like Lindt and il go for nestle too occasionally.

TheTrollFairy · 29/04/2019 07:14

I can notice the change in chocolate bar form but things like Easter eggs I can’t notice. Maybe it’s the thickness of the chocolate?
It changed around the time I was pregnant/gave birth so I initially put it down to my tastebuds changing Grin

Mabelface · 29/04/2019 07:32

The new "adult" chocolate they've brought out was wholly disappointing. Just tasted cheap

bigglewig · 29/04/2019 07:37

I love Cadbury's chocolate but noticed a difference in the taste of their eggs this year. I thought it was just me! And considered changed my toothpaste as I thought It was giving the weird aftertaste I was experiencing! Confused

BusterGonad · 29/04/2019 07:37

It definitely tastes different but I'll still eat it until the cows come home!
