Donning my hard hat and flame proof suit.
I have a feeling it is only me 😣
I have been reading threads for a while now about how horrible Cadbury's chocolate is these days.
Every single time I think, god, I can't bloody taste the difference.
What the hell Blush

M&S chic has a nice creamy texture. I always keep choc in the fridge.

UCOinanOCG · 29/04/2019 07:39

I still think it tastes great too.

Bunbunbunny · 29/04/2019 07:45

So glad it's not just me the eggs was awful this year, tasted cheap and nasty I've put most of it in the bin. It tasted like old chocolate, even though it was fresh. Really disappointed. What have they done to it?

Harebel · 29/04/2019 08:29

Ugh it's not the same it's waxy and tasteless the texture is all wrong!

But if you can't tell the difference all power to you & enjoy!

We boycott all Cadbury's products in this house now.

Genevieva · 29/04/2019 08:43

I think a lot of chocolate has gone down hill. Even Green and Blacks. I no longer buy chocolate regularly and when I do I tend to splash out on something from a small chocolate company like Kernow chocolate. I am generally a dark chocolate fan, but if I have milk chocolate I like it to be creamy, not sweeter, fatty and waxy.

AwdBovril · 29/04/2019 08:48

Cadburys chocolate is vile now, has been for several years. It tastes & feelsmlike itskbeen mixed with wax, no longer does it melt in the mouth or even for cooking. Chocolate shouldn't be chewy. Envy

AwdBovril · 29/04/2019 08:48

Oh dear, typos. Sorry. Blush

bluebellforest · 29/04/2019 08:49

Glad it's not just me then Blush
It must have changed, as not everyone who thinks it tastes different can be wrong.
Wish I had a time machine, so that I could go back to 1988 and do a taste difference test. That would be epic Grin

Lindt or Ritter Sport. So lovely.

XiCi · 29/04/2019 08:58

Irish Cadbury chocolate has not been changed so if you want to do a taste test then you just need a trip over (or my local supermarket has an Irish section with Cadbury choc in, bit cheaper than a weekend away Smile)

spicypickle · 29/04/2019 09:17

I hate it and I used to love it I now prefer guerlian I think I've spelt that wrong though Blush

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 29/04/2019 09:22

Ah so the ingredients have changed!! I said to someone Easter time my 2 eggs I had tasted different and not as nice but I couldn’t explain how, and was told I was imagining things.

iolaus · 29/04/2019 09:27

I've only eaten half an easter egg - the texture is all wrong

I'd rather have Lindt

DumbledoresArmy · 29/04/2019 09:29

Used to love Cadbury's Dairy Milk & fruit & Nut. It tastes bloody awful now.
Tastes cheap.

Crunchie & Double Deckers are ok.

Lindt choccie far nicer!!

I also think Thornton's don't taste as nice now!

littlepeas · 29/04/2019 09:29

I tried to melt some Easter eggs to make rice crispie cakes.......it doesn’t melt!! It’s really weird and a bit of a frankenfood now.

PetraRabbit · 29/04/2019 09:55

YABU! Most Cadbury's chocolate now tastes unrecognisable as Cadbury's. I think what's lacking is actually the very distinctive malty taste that no other chocolate has. Roses are their worst product- vile! In a blind test you'd never identify them as Cadbury's It's so disappointing because expensive brands might taste good but they just don't have that unique maltiness so there's no substitute. I hate the way they ruined such a brilliant product.

Busybusybust · 29/04/2019 09:57

I’ve never been keen on chocolate, but dairy milk is horrible these days, and it’s full of palm oil.

Dragonlight · 29/04/2019 10:28

Another Cadbury hater here too. Aldi choc all the way!

Gardai · 29/04/2019 10:33

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet - Cadbury's use palm oil the last few years which makes the flavour greasy and weird. Green & blacks use palm oil too now I think. It makes it cheaper to produce I imagine.

I don't have a sophisticated palette by any means but some M&S chocolate is nice and not expensive.

englishdictionary · 29/04/2019 10:40

think it tastes of nothing except greasy brown coloured sweet wax

This ^

You used to be able to keep a square of dairy milk in your mouth until it melted into something that stuck to the roof of your mouth but tasted like chocolate. If you do that with dairy milk today it melts into some sort of greasy almost chocolate flavoured mess.

Myusernameisunique · 29/04/2019 11:14

I love Cadbury chocolate it's my favourite.
I hate lindt, Nestlé, Galaxy, Thornton's, hotel Chocolat and basically every other brand! I do like Aldi chocolate, not the same as Cadbury though. I don't find it overly sweet but I do find the other brands too sweet or sugary. I think it's creamier than the rest!

Lifeonmars77 · 29/04/2019 11:19

Ha! At first glance, I thought this thread was going to be about cow's milk vs the alternatives from almond, oat etc. I was already feeling sorry for you facing the wrath of an army of angry vegans.

I still like Cadbury too... along with most others. Least faves are Nestle and Thorntons.

MumW · 29/04/2019 11:38

It does taste and feel different.

When the recipe was first changed, I wasn't convinced it was noticeable. However, I bought a packet of those mis-shape randoms you can get. Wasn't even thinking about it but when I put one of them in my mouth - OMG, it was so old Cadburys that, from that moment, I knew the new recipe wasn't as good. Old Cadburys is less sweet and more chocolatey and sort of melted around your mouth in a way the new version most definitely doesn't.

And if it has palm oil in, isn't that a big ecological no-no these days. I hadn't realised the issues until we were in France last year and a big point was made of products that didn't contain it.

Bottledate · 29/04/2019 12:17

Dairy Milk out of the fridge used to be the absolute best, then it seemed like it just wasn't the same, BUT I actually quite enjoyed my Easter egg; just not bothered about buying bars any more.

19lottie82 · 29/04/2019 12:19

I love dairy milk. I buy a £1 bar every Friday and it’s one of the highlights of my week Grin
