I saw the end of a rainbow!

Had a shitty couple of days. The very expensive van my son bought to start new business blew up before he got it home and we both spent 2 hours in freezing rain waiting for the AA to rescue us from side of the motorway.
Returned said van this morning and stood in freezing rain demonstrating exactly how the engine blew up.
Long drive home up motorway. Rain stopped. Sun came out, and I actually saw the end of a fantastically bright rainbow

No gold though.

Anyone else seen one? Or maybe you have had a little bit if joy after a rotten day?

I've never seen one! I'm jealous. I'm sorry you've had such a crappy day. Thanks

Foottunnel · 27/04/2019 17:05

The only one I have ever send the end of, ended in the middle of the Thames.

Circlegame · 27/04/2019 17:07

I drove through one once. Took ages as well. It was amazing but no one ever believes me!

hazell42 · 27/04/2019 17:11

It was amazing. Really bright. Just at the side is the road. And then, it just kind of moved.
Really cheered me up.
I heard someone on the radio once saying that they had danced in the end of a rainbow. That would have been even better, but was just happy to see it

There were two that ended in the field behind my house. No crock of gold. But the septic tank lives on to see another day so that was good enough for me.

donquixotedelamancha · 27/04/2019 17:41

Rainbow don't have ends and they are not at ground level.

CuntyMcBollocks · 27/04/2019 17:46

I have twice. One of them ended in a field that I was driving by, and another was on the park across the road during a sunny thunder storm.

MrsMozartMkII · 27/04/2019 17:48

Wow! Excellent. Hope can thing gets sorted.

Circlegame Me too! The colours and effect was amazing.

PissOffPeppa · 27/04/2019 17:50

I saw the end of one once outside my bedroom window as a child. I went out to touch it and I was very disappointed when it kept moving away from me

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 27/04/2019 17:50

We’re there Leprechauns?

AbsolCatly · 27/04/2019 17:51

Once - at work outside job and early in the morning - had to walk through it to get to the animals, they had breakfast a full minutes late as the colours were marvellous :)

DrVonPatak · 27/04/2019 17:52

@donquixotedelamancha

Congratulations, here's the party-pooper award of the year, and it's only April.

I once drove under one, it was quite an experience Smile

LetsDialDownTheIanPaisley · 27/04/2019 17:52

Rainbows are round

outsho · 27/04/2019 17:52

A rainbow is an optical illusion. You can’t drive through one or see the end, sorry to burst those bubbles Wink.

Hope your day picks up though, sounds like a G&T is in order!

MrsMozartMkII · 27/04/2019 17:54

outsho I know, which is what made it even weirder than the colours alone. They were definitely there and I definitely drove through. It of all the times I've ever seen a rainbow it's the only time that there was anything like that.

TrySinging · 27/04/2019 17:55

I saw the end of one too once. It was in someone's front garden and I was taking a driving lesson - the instructor pointed it out. We then had a conversation where I discovered we had the same birthday and it all felt a bit magical. 🌈

bridgetreilly · 27/04/2019 17:56

Migraine?

Circlegame · 27/04/2019 17:58

Have a look at some of the videos on YouTube of driving through a rainbow.

mimibunz · 27/04/2019 18:00

A gift from the universe! I once saw a double rainbow; felt like a lovely treat!

Tartsamazeballs · 27/04/2019 18:05

I've seen one! And I took a picture (so nyah nyah to you @donquixo Grin )... I'll see if I can find it

Tartsamazeballs · 27/04/2019 18:06

Ta dah! (Hope this works) was in the River Thames between Sonning and Caversham.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 27/04/2019 18:10

You can’t drive through a rainbow. They aren’t a fixed thing. They are relative to your eye and the sun.
You can never get close enough to then to get to the end, hence the whole thing about finding the end of a rainbow.

yoshismother · 27/04/2019 18:10

Rainbows are circular if you look down on them I believe.

Butterflycookie · 27/04/2019 18:13

I thought rainbows were actually circular. On another note, did anyone watch Bernard’s watch when they were younger? (He found a pocket watch at the end of a rainbow)

LarryGreysonsDoor · 27/04/2019 18:17

Rainbows are circular. They are caused by light refracting through water droplets. However sometimes the ground gets in the way of the circle. When I’ve seen them from a plane the are circular.
